Master EmberJS : Learn Ember JS From Scratch (Udemy.com)

The author switch too many time and too fast from one place to another. Do not digit the code in the video, so I must simply stop and play and stop and play again and again and again. Very very bad. This method is quite right for a book, but this is a VIDEO. You as teacher are expetced to digit, explain and WAIT a second before change page, refresh anything, swith to firefox, and so on.... you must WAIT. Also, your spelling is bad. Sorry., really.

Great overall. Very concise and clear about each subject explained

The good part is most important: The author clearly know is way around EmberJS and positive I'm going to learn a lot here. The bad...the audio is so annoying but I'm so far trying to be patient. I saw some people complain about the author's accent, which I can tell you as a person with a hearing problem is nonsense. He do have an accent, but speak clear and proper english. (speak a bit fast though ) Overall, yes, get the course and stick with it. Better know some basic emberjs first to overcome the "bad" parts.

The audio is jumping most of the time, the content and information are really good but the way it is recorded seems like "words" separately recorded and then compiled together to form sentences... You could feel it in tempo of the delivery as well... I must say If not for this audio i would have rated the course very high because I'm learning a lot and feel that this is the course I need to learn EmberJS

Update: After reading up on emberjs myself I've decided to downgrade this course! It's dated, ember-cli is the recommended way to go by ember core dev. For me, I find the teaching style unfocused, there is a lot of jumping around between code snippets that's already pretyped. So you miss out learning by looking over the shoulder of someone experienced. I keep missing the connection of the concepts because of a lot of hand waving and jumping around. I've watched the early videos a few times and find my mind drifting and I haven't really learned anything. I think this would be good for someone who's done some reading up on ember.js, but someone who hasn't will need to really focus. I am writing this review after having watched 32% of the training material. To put this into context I am a seasoned developer. I guess his teaching style don't fit my way of learning. He does cover the concepts well, so the material is provided, but you will need to think as stuff is not pointed out entirely, or it's quickly mentioned.

The tutor breezes through the content at a crash course speed... which is only good if you already know ember and just want to refresh your memory. That's why the course is only 3-4 hours long. The explanations are lacking in the whys and hows... its mostly "This is how X is done in ember. Moving on". There is lot of 'magic' like behaviour in ember, so good explanations are vital. I didn't care much for the example app that we build in the course... I felt it was too bland to hold my interest. We also don't have the image files used to make the app look good while following the course (they are provided at the last lecture... with no indication of this fact early on). Ironically, in contrast to the speed of the course, the narration of the tutor often has weird mini-pauses in the middle of sentences... its like having, a, comma, after, each, word, in, a, sentence. It puts emphasis on the words while taking away from the meaning of the whole sentence. I found it very distracting and it forced me to go back and listen to these parts multiple times. I could not last the course... dropped out after about 55%. Going to file for a refund on this course... and I ordered the book "Audacious web apps with Ember 2". Hopefully, that goes a little better. Giving this 2 stars as I did manage to learn a little about data binding and routes in Ember. ps: Udemy's review display is terrible. All the formatting is removed and all the text squished into 1 paragraph.

Ember is not a simple nor easy framework to learn. In general i found this course to be a pretty good overview of Ember. The course flow was good and the overall presentation was professional. Ember is ever changing, so it's important to also keep up to date on the current ember documentation on the Ember site. The one down side to this course was the speed of the instructor. He spoke so fast that it was difficult to keep up. It really became frustrating and I came very close to quitting the course. I even tried slowing the play speed, but .5 was too slow. In the end I needed to pause and replay parts of the video. I ended up playing it twice. Had it not been for that I would have given 5 stars. In the end I think the course is worth taking for people who want to learn Ember.

Even through a slight Indian accent, the delivery is very strong. And a lot of care has gone into the editing to keep each section very short. Thankfully, with video, you can pause for specific details if necessary, but I found the delivery carried the message very well. More importantly, the instructor often takes the time to cover the details which lead to the code, so you have many reminders of the thought process. This detailed coverage includes frequent trips to the debugger to glance at the output markup and code to see EmberJS under the hood and to view concrete examples of the desired results. This roundtripping approach is very thoughtful and desirable to get a firm understanding of not just EmberJS coding but how EmberJS works under the hood (not to mention taking advantage of powerful browser debugging to sleuth code). What's missing? No EmberJS boosterism. All business (good). Not much advice or examples of code gone wrong --- makes for tight explanations, but little practice on what to do when things go wrong. Also, the content just touches on EmberJS 2.1+ (which will fully introduce Components and which is the "new" EmberJS). It uses HTMLBars (good), but does not fully embrace ember-cli and just touches on components (future: EmberJS 2.1+). So this very transitional (and practical) approach will suffer once EmberJS 2.1 delivers a full component/pods programming model (2016+). I hope the instructor has the time to update/replace course materials to cover components in EmberJS 2.1+. The ember-cli is a bit of a tradeoff too, since hand coding the directory structure does teach underpinnings. However, ember-cli is very compelling and standard for EmberJS now, so I think the tradeoff would be in favor of full ember-cli treatment. Because all the key information is current now, I give the course five stars but the value of the current content will decrease with time. Going into 2016, I would give it four stars... unless SkillBakery updates key materials to fully embrace ember-cli, components, pods, and EmberJS 2.1+. Strong course, well delivered, with tight well organized topics. Good introduction, and with such short and sweet sections --- good for review/reference too.

This course is very fast paced. Due to this, I chose not to code along and as the course progressed it was clear that I made the right decision. The audio quality was not great. All of that said, I would still recommend this course. If you have any experience in front end frameworks and want to get a thorough walk through of Ember's specific features, this is a great course. If you have no front end framework experience, I would hesitate to use this course as your base of knowledge based on the pace. I know if it was my first I would have been overwhelmed. It was perfect for what I was looking for. I now have an understanding of the architecture and some of the patterns Ember uses and feel comfortable moving forward to create my own application and explore the technology.

The EmberJS version used in this course is far behind the latest one. Instructor's code is bad in Lecture 12: haven't seen in best practices such code: class="{{if isDisabled 'colortext'}}" instead Ember guides show: {{bind-attr class="isDisabled:textcolor"}}. After such code and the way instructor types code (e.g., without indentation) I cannot trust this guy. Anyway thank you for a good try. This tutorial is worth $10, but definitely not $149.
