Course Description
This course covers Reactive Extensions, a technology for working with streams of data in a reactive fashion. With Reactive Extensions, you can ingest, filter analyze and re-broadcast data streams. You can also build your own components which generate reactive streams for others to produce.
Reactive Extensions started its life as a .NET technology, but has since been ported to every other language imaginable, including even JavaScript. This course shows how Rx can be used specifically with C# and .NET.
Topics Covered
- The reactive paradigm and push collections
- Key Rx operators
- Rx's Subject classes that help working with observable sequences
- Fundamental Stream Operators
- Advanced Stream Operators, including operations on multiple streams
Pre-requisites
This is an intermediate-level course, designed for serious .NET programmers wishing to expand their arsenal of .NET related skills. To take the course, you will need the following:
- Good knowledge of C# and .NET framework
- Good understanding of .NET application development (esp. collections/data storage)
- Good knowledge of LINQ
- Cursory knowledge of TPL may be benefitial
Course Materials
- 100% hands-on, with live demonstrations of every topic covered
- Presented in Visual Studio 2017
- Every lesson comes with a single-file demo
- End-of-section quizzes are available
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students should:
- Understand the use of reactive sequences
- Appreciate key observable/observer .NET interfaces and how to use them
- Efficiently use Subject classes for setting up simple scenarios
- Apply single-stream operators, including operators involving time
- Apply advanced operators, including multi-stream operators

This is definitely not a Mastering-level course. It is introductory at best. The course is completely lacking in anything approaching a real-world example. Everything is super-trivialised, with most demos just being a couple of lines in a console app. That's fine for a survey- or introductory-level course, and is useful for explaining some of the simpler aspects to someone completely new to the area. However, it is nowhere near a Mastering-level. The speaker gabbles ridiculously quickly, never pausing to allow for reflection and with no consideration for the student. That's not the end of the world, but the material becomes just a blur of small, trivial demos, rather than an effective way of teaching. It's not awful, but this is sadly a long way below the standard I was expecting or hoping for. I therefore cannot recommend it.

The course is very good in terms of presentation quality, but sadly does not give the course's title a justice. It is an introductory course, not a mastering one. The course goes over only the simpler operators and doesn't cover more complex things, such as sharing/connectable observables. It does not even mention a difference between hot and cold observables and why it matters (from what I remember), and most importantly, it's missing a lesson or two on schedulers (observeOn, subscribeOn) and other similar things that are a pain in real life code. Most of what was covered in this course can be read and absorbed in a few hours of reading the RX docs. As I said, the quality of content is very good, but the amount (and the choice) of content categorizes this under 101 RX, not "Mastering".

Curso excelente.

On the web I often read that it's hard to wrap your mind around the concept of Rx, and I found it to be true until I his course simply solved my problem. Dmitri provides a clean path to understanding Rx, from the basic concepts to the most advanced ones. I also took Dmitri's other course about LINQ since I wanted to refresh my mind about it before than taking this class, and I was very satisfied as well

I was unaware of the Reactive Extensions library and discovered it by taking another one of Dmitri's courses. It was an excellent find for me and provides a nice alternative to the conventional event patterns. The course covers a great deal of sequence manipulation techniques and are described well. The course is then rounded nicely off with a basic event broker and DI container example.

Dimitri's teaching style is very straightforward and clear. He manages to distill Reactive Extensions into something easily digestible, using real-world examples to help illustrate an otherwise complicated concept. I would have liked to have seen some exercises to help reinforce the concepts he teaches, similar to how he offers exercises for his Design Patterns in C# course, though the Quizes are a welcome compromise.

The course did a decent job of introducing Rx. That being said, I feel the author really rushed through the content. He should be pausing ever once in awhile to allow some of the subject matter to sink in. Instead, he just went from point to point without even taking a breath. Furthermore, I feel I would have really benefited from some real world examples. Instead, everything was implemented in a console application. Because of this I'm having an issue determining in what real world situations I can use Rx and how I would go about implementing it.

This is the best Rx introductory course I've listened although it doesn't cover some topics like Hot/Cold Observables and Schedulars. It explain Observer design pattern clearly and most of Rx functions are covered. I love the video of Rx and Event, the one using Autofac to do Dependency Injection. It would be even greater if there could be a more concrete, close-to-real-world sample project to help students understand deeper.

Very good audio and video quality and explains the topic very well. I do wish that some of the end of section quizzes had a few more questions but the coding it self was very easy to follow and see what it was doing. This is my first exposure on this topic but certainly a great way to get interest built in applying these techniques to personal projects

While this course is suitable for me, I can imagine that it might be a little hard to a beginner to Rx. In terms of coding standard, the instructor might want to respect some of the recommendations suggested by ReSharper (e.g., private variable name starts with an underscore; a constructor in a base class could use a protected rather than public modifier, etc.
