Course Description

This is the tutorial you've been looking for to master building dynamic web apps with Meteor JS, with all the most important topics covered in great depth!
Authentication? Covered. Routing? Of course! Security? We got it.

Meteor JS can get you a position in web development or help you build that personal project you've been dreaming of. Meteor is the ultimate framework for developer productivity; it is bar-none the fastest technology you can use to make fast and interactive web apps in just a few hours.
This course will get you up and running quickly, and teach you the core knowledge you need to deeply understand and build interesting apps with Meteor and React.
We'll start by mastering the fundamentals of React, including JSX, "props", "state", and eventing. Source code is provided for each lecture, so you will always stay up-to-date with the course pacing. After an introduction to React, we'll dive right in to Meteor, covering topics like Collections, Meteor Methods, Subscriptions, and Publications.
If you are new to Meteor or React, or if you've been working to learn it but sometimes feel like you still don't quite 'get it', this is the course for you! To learn Meteor you have to understand it.
  • Learn how to secure Meteor applications with enterprise-grade security. Don't let your data leak!
  • Set up user authentication and permissions using Meteor's built-in auth system.
  • Use React to render your Meteor data; master the process of breaking down a complex component into many smaller, interchangeable components
  • Grasp the difference between "props" and "state" and when to use each
  • Develop complex applications that scale in complexity by mastering Meteor
I've built the course that I would have wanted to take when I was learning Meteor. A course that explains the concepts and how they're implemented in the best order for you to learn and deeply understand them.Who this course is for:
  • Programmers looking to learn Meteor
  • Engineers who have researched Meteor but have had trouble mastering some concepts
  • Web developers who are looking to build a full-stack web application
  • Entrepreneurs who want to make their own apps without relying on others

The code presented doesn't work. I've needed to google other documentation and tutorials to find working examples to fix the code presented in the course. I'm wasting a lot of time here instead of learning.

really nice course, I wish there was an advanced version, I could use another 20 hours of advanced examples. thank you!

By Alan Reid on 10/12/2020

Working on this at 2020, there are enough answers within the Q/A to get through this course. You will have to add function hooks on your own though nothing stops you doing class components if you want however this seems like a dated practise. Apart from that and some very small things you will have to figure out, this is a great course. I do hope Stephen updates the course in the future with more projects as this is a quick and fantastic way to understand react and meteor together. I sure would buy it again if it was updated.

React part wasn't detailed. Meteor was good. Many issues due to course being old & therefore most the things don't work with newer versions of libraries.

install of react incorrect

By Eduardo Orozco on 9/11/2020

It is outdated, had to do a lot of digging to make it work

By Rohan Rayon on 8/20/2020

Din't cover much topics on Meteor

By Mandi Haase on 8/10/2020

this is a great course but perhaps a bit dated

By Jrgen Klingler on 6/25/2020

The complete course is well structured with very good code examples.
The only thing is, questions are rarely answered.
Nevertheless it is a 5 star course.

Unfortunately the content is out of date, a lot of libraries had updates along the time (including Meteor that brings a new boilerplate including the React library already) and would be nice a refactoring of the examples bringing up modern concepts like Hooks, and a better implementation of login only using React (the course gives an example using Blaze).

So far, a very clear and concise explanation.

Would just like a more updated version.
