Our take
Based on the ratings of 13,694 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a long lecture series on mindfulness, taught by Kain Ramsay, who retired from the military in 2005 and now teaches applied psychology through Achology. It runs 33 hours across five sections: foundations, self-awareness, self-discipline, an applied psychology view, and social and relational awareness. It is pitched at beginners, but also at coaches, therapists, educators and healthcare workers who want to bring mindfulness into their own work. A certificate comes at the end. Nothing in the listing says it is formally accredited, so treat it as a completion certificate.
Most of the praise is about the teaching. Reviewers call Kain lively, charismatic, thorough and relatable, and one says they have read his book. Others like the audio and video quality and the download options, and the listing adds an MP3 version. The complaints are narrower and they repeat. Several three-star and one-star reviewers say he preaches non-judgement and then talks down to monks, breathing practices and energy healers in the early videos. One reviewer just says they are still waiting for the good parts. The syllabus has no quizzes, and the section titles read more like psychology talks than guided practice.
The numbers are strong. It holds a 4.7 from 13,694 ratings, with about 58 percent giving five stars and fewer than 3 percent giving one or two. The content was last refreshed in August 2025. It is paid, and one reviewer calls it very low cost. Next to the meditation-focused certificates it is listed with, this one is more about ideas and self-reflection than practice. It suits people who learn by listening and thinking things through. If you want guided sessions, look elsewhere.
Pros
- Instructor described as lively, charismatic and relatable, with reviewers pointing to his energy
- Good audio and video quality per reviewers, with downloads and an MP3 version for learning on the move
- Five clear sections that run from foundations through self-discipline to relationships
- Aimed partly at coaches, therapists and educators, with a certificate at the end
Cons
- Low-star reviewers say he is judgmental about monks, breathing and energy healing
- No quizzes listed, and the section titles lean toward talks more than guided practice
- Long at 33 hours, and one reviewer was still waiting for the good parts
I really enjoyed the course. The content was thought provoking and very insightful. I would highly recommend this course.
Beginners can start cold, since no prior experience is needed, though it also targets coaches and therapists.

The course itself is good so far but the tutor isn't really practicing what he is preaching. He is saying as a mindful person we shouldn't be judgemental yet he is constantly bringing up breathing and monks in a derogatory and judgemental way a number of times in just the first few videos. Also referring to things he clearly knows nothing about such as energy healing, no self respecting practitioner would claim to be able to heal someone as he seems to say they all do. This would be a much better course if he just stopped trying to undermine others beliefs and practices and teach the information he has regarding mindfulness.

The course is highly valuable, as most psychological therapies require a strong emphasis on mindfulness. The instructor is excellent, delivering the material in an engaging and enjoyable way. The course itself is outstanding, comprehensive, and detailed, providing a wealth of information that is both thorough and insightful. Overall, it offers an exceptional learning experience.

course is quite awesome. however, this is for people who are already quite free from their past and ready for the new. Kain may say that you do not need psychologists and you are a decision away and get rid of people in your life who are holding you back like thorns but it is just not feasible in Asian or African cultures. you have to continue living with them if spouses or remain connected with your parents or they can just disconnect you from all your relatives as well. Divorce from spouse is a judicial nightmare of decade+ in many a countries - you are stuck with them. You also have to grieve out your past, especially childhood beliefs and negative thoughts either through more relevant self-help books (consider Lindsay, Pete Walker) or psychologist, similar to how Kain did. Though he has made our path quite easier. after this grieving exercise, the course is quite helpful.

I struggled to get through the course, not sure what the problem was exactly but I had to watch several videos several times. I would watch videos it will tick that I watched it as I move to the next one then the tick will disappear and I had to watch it again. The content was very good and informative and changes one' s perspective on self. I benefited a lot it has opened up an insight into myself. The course enables me to better provide services as a professional Social Worker.

The course broadened my perception of what mindfulness is/can be. I find myself more self aware and looking at things with less judgement. I still find breathing techniques and other mindfulness exercises helpful but have a greater appreciation for importance of addressing the why and giving myself more grace to just be. The stories and lessons were engaging and Kain does a wonderful job and painting a picture to not only help you see but you can picture how the approach can help you and help others.

Its an excelent reminder for a former yoga and mediation teacher of 15 years. Ive had almost 7 years off my business Yoga Studio due to getting into drugs, at 42, strange, but, I was empty. So now I am starting my life over, Mindfullness has been a part of my meditation practice, but 8-10 years ago. I love this intructors teaching style and the information is wonderful, its nice to be the student. I love learning.
