Pros: - Explained in a friendly language, which makes the content easy to follow. - Good to understand Graphql basics. Cons: - Heroku doesn't provide free Postgresql instances anymore, I would have planned the course with a local DB setup instead of relying in third party cloud products. - I believe this big "auth" section isn't needed to understand the Graphql concept. It misguides the user with bad example such as JWT dispensed on signup rather than sign in. Since the purpose of the course is not to focus on web auth itself, why not do a simpler thing? - I don't think a React application is needed for a proof of concept like this, it takes a lot to understand for people that haven't used React. I think a better idea would have been to do with no framework or with a simpler framework, at least.

I enjoyed the course and it offers good value. Laith explains the topics well and the debugging explanations were useful. I particularly liked the focus on the backend. However, I would like to see sections on: - custom scalar types - pagination - subscriptions Overall, it's a great first course and I hope that Laith produces more in the future.

I was quite impressed by the high quality of this course. It took me from knowing nothing about Graphl up to a stage where I have a general idea of it and can create things on my own. That being said, I think this course could be even better if: 1) Addressed subscriptions (like others have mentioned). But I understand that it would require a bit more of work to come up with a project that requires it 2) I had the impression that the quality of section 10 is lower than the other sections. The reasons for that: a) The provided .zip resource is not exactly the same as Laith uses from the first chapter of the section - some logic is already implemented in the provided zip file b) I think it would be better to split the Signin/Signup video into 2 separate videos c) And a last, I think the last section was kind of rushed through, in comparison with the others All in all, this is a top-notch course which I'd definitely watch again if I had to learn GraphQL

The course was a nice crash course to GraphQL for people who are already familiar with JS. If you pay close attention, you'll notice good habits that experienced engineers do, which was prevalent in the schema design. This course isn't an intro to JS so don't expect your hand to be held in that regard. You should come into this course with the expectation of learning GraphQL as a supplement to your Node and React skills, not as a starting point. Btw, Jaylen Brown is an amazing NBA player so thank you for that, Laith!

Thanks, Laith! I enjoyed this and how generally up-to-date the content was. I'd consider posting your current-state-code at the end of each lesson. Sometimes it was hard to follow what you were doing; you'd enter some code and then immediately scroll away, and I'd find myself rewinding several times to see what you had done. I liked the mistakes; I think the debugging is helpful, I think one learns more from that than anything else.

This course is a great introduction to the world of GraphQL. I loved that it used Prisma as a database ORM, since I've been trying to learn it for a while now, but no other courses covered it. Only thing missing are graphql subscriptions, since most applications today have some kind of realtime elements. Other than that I'm happy I worked through this!

I really enjoyed this course and its content. The instructor knows the subject he's teaching and enjoys what he does and that's energy is passed down to the students as well. I wouldn't say this course if for people who don't have an intermediate concept of JavaScript, but everything GraphQL related is very well explained. The only issue is that when the content starts to get more complex, errors start popping up and I understand that it's important to teach how to debug the code and all but those errors weren't intentional and I think this hinders the progress since there's a lot of back and forth looking for this errors. Besides that, I still recommend this course.

Explained things very well. Was also good to see the tutor's debugging process when working with GQL. Highly recommend. Was so great that it was built using Typescript too, that was genuinely a nice surprise for me. (DO NOT WORRY if you don't know Typescript, I truly believe he explains it well enough for anyone who understand JavaScript to follow along). 5/5, thank you

I found this course tremendously educational, I got here looking for a simple and comprehensive graphql approach. Even though some videos feel like there are tought expontanously I also enjoyed that (The mad cat commanding for food and the police siren lol) The course has real application of graphql, real use cases. I felt it short and never got bored. Fresh stuff like apollo client/server and typescript are a big win IMHO.

This is the course I was looking for. I was able to learn not only GraphQL but also the heart of backend development. His explanations are concise, systematic and well thought out. And, and this is very important, Funny. Thank you very much, Mr. Laith. I am looking forward to your next course and tutorial videos.
