Course Description
Inflammation is at the root of almost every chronic health condition. The list of symptoms of systemic inflammation is a lengthy one including joint and body pain, weight gain, brain fog, anxiety and depression, digestive problems, migraines, skin issues and persistent fatigue to name a few of the more common ones. Inflammation is at the root of almost every autoimmune disease as well.
In this course, we are going to cover how to heal inflammation naturally using food as medicine and integrative medicine practices such as meditation and exercise. We will begin with understanding how the immune system works, then discuss inflammation when it is doing what it should and when it is not. We will discuss what causes inflammation, leaky gut syndrome, dysbiosis and how to determine where your “weak link of inflammation” is. Students will learn what foods to avoid, and how to create a diet plan that works right for them.
I too used to suffer from inflammation-related issues. I had brain fog, fatigue and skin issues. I was on the edge of adrenal fatigue and burnt out. As a practicing Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this was hard for me to accept, but it was my reality. I used the principle and techniques in this course to heal myself, and hundreds of my patients.
There is a new fad diet every day. Someone telling you “do not do, that do this!” In Nutrition for Inflammation, we address the root of the matter. We address the cause of the problem, inflammation, and in doing so, we treat all the branches – the symptoms. We explore the latest health and nutrition research to reverse chronic inflammation.

I am a practicing Doctor of Tradition Chinese Medicine and Integrative Medicine. My practice has been tremendously gratifying, and through it I have had the opportunity to work with many people helping them heal, body mind and spirit. Through my practice, I soon discovered my true passion, however: teaching. I have been teaching in the classroom for the last five years, and have been told by students and colleagues alike that it is my purpose. The focus of my lectures has been Psychology, Personal Growth, Nutrition and Orthopedic Assessment. My passion however is in self-development of any kind. I am a true believer in becoming the best version of yourself. I see Udemy as the perfect platform to bring my lessons to more people.
Between my clinical practice and teaching experience, I have gained a wealth of knowledge in the world of Health and Wellness, but I offer more than that. I am an avid outdoors man, adventure lover, and seeker of truth. I use skills and knowledge from many fields of study and interest to provide my students with unique, down to earth and always informative lectures.

Excellent course! The instructor demonstrates knowledge of the subject and provides very practical and valuable guidance. His experience really shows throughout the content and in the way the process is presented. The materials are excellent, well-structured, and provide information that can be useful. This course is not only for people dealing with health issues, but also for anyone who wants to improve their diet and take a more preventive approach to their health. I really recommend it.

I was looking for something that explained lived experiences with evidence based nutrition and this was just the perfect course. As a practitioner of ayurveda, this was exactly what I was looking!

Easy to follow and very straight forward, actionable steps and good breakdown of the material. I do wish it had a chapter discussing sugar supplements as this has a lot of different opinions and I would like to hear how it could be incorporate or not in this diet.

Yes, it is a great intro to integrative medicine and good review of factors contributing to inflammation, as well as the immune response. Great information about specific/common activators leading to leaky gut and dysbiosis of the microbiome.

It's a really good understanding of the basics, for someone living with an auto immune condition, this course can be mind opening and helps you understand your body, its workings, symptoms better, something which no doctor till date has been able to do for me. A highly recommended course for anyone struggling with chronic issues. You atleast are now equipped with the right information. No doctor till date could tell me the stuff in learnt from this course. Thank you.

While there was some discussion on plant based, it was very minimal. I would have like to see a bit more on this area (or consider doing a part 2 course for plant based viewers). I took this course because as a certified nutritionist I wanted to zero in and extend my education on more specific areas of nutrition. As a whole, I did find this course to be quite informative and worth the investment. I believe in the 'practice what you preach' approach, so I will be doing the 9wk plan first, before I suggest it to others.

Completely impressed with this course! Though I have learned a great deal about the importance of nutrition, this course has brought so much clarity about how and why nutrition works in helping us maintain our health.

I am very happy to have taken this course. Jess is an excellent instructor, very knowledgeable. He explains each topic in a clear and dynamic way. Personally, most of the foods he proposes to eliminate, I had already eliminated from my diet, just not gradually as proposed in the course and (added to intermittent fasting) I noticed significant changes in my body and mind, more energy, vitality, concentration, better physical performance when doing my workouts and an increase in my cognitive ability, so I already came with some experience. I got used to eating differently, and discovered a whole world I didn't know about, and I feel so good that I really don't want to reintroduce gluten, sugars or processed foods. However, I took the course to expand my knowledge and see if I could do anything else and it turned out that there is a lot more I can incorporate (and eliminate) from my diet for better results. Also several supplements that I had not considered. The resources are very comprehensive and have many options. I have loved this course. Thank you Jess!

Thoroughly enjoying this class. Everything is broken down to make each subject easily understandable and interesting. No boring details and great presentation. Hats off to the instructor for making this an enjoyable course. Would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this course Dr. Reynold's teaching style is very , simple to understand and informative. I have been suffering with inflammation for many years, and I never would of thought that someone would teach a class on it. It's more than a class it's a new way of living and living with less pain and eventually without pain all together. I always google about my pain, but this class has taught me how to live and eat the correct foods for my symptoms. I'm so excited, its a challenge but, I'm ready after buying all the ingredients and vegetable I'm getting creative in my cooking . it's somewhat less challenging due to the fact I don't eat meat, only salmon and dairy, wheat, gluten causes me to have a lot of phlegm, and sugar causes my body to hurt, that's when I stopped eating them so i thought. Dr. Reynolds taught me that its a lot of hidden ingredients that I didn't know were in gluten , and hidden sugars in foods. He's awesome and has a very calm clear teaching style. I'm making my week by week improvements and now my husband is on board, of course all he has to do is eat! lol! Question in my 2nd week I ate some cantaloupe and i got dizzy and then felt weak and exhausted I had to sit down. That wasn't the really sweet fruit i was suppose to give up, when your giving up sugar should you also give up any sugar? That was the only question I had. Great Work Doc, this class is a life saver. Happy Student and Patient!
