Course Description

Welcome to the course Operating systems Part 4 : File Systems & Threads

Mastering the concepts of Operating Systems is very important to get started with Computer Science because Operating System is the program which is responsible for the ease with which we are able to use computers today to solve our problems by writing application programs like Google Chrome. The concepts which we are going to study is going to give a very good understanding of File Systems and Threads - one of the advanced topics of Computer Science. But believe me I made it as simpler as possible in this course. Lot of examples has been discussed just to strenghten the understanding of concepts. Also the topics are covered in a pace where even an ordinary student can understand everything.

Without using Operating Systems ,it is extremely difficult to communicate with the hardware devices of our computer. Every computer today has an Operating System installed in it. Through this course you will not only master file systems and threads in Operating Systems and also feel the real beauty of computer science.

In this course ,every concept of Operating Systems is taught in an easy-to-understand manner such that anybody who has covered my Operating Systems Part 1 and Part 2 course will be able to understand.

Come and join me, I assure you that you will have the best learning experience of not just Operating Systems but also the core of Computer Science in a different dimension.

I love how you explain each subject from beginning to end and reiterate the entire processes as you move on to the next subject. You explain subject 1 then explain subject 2 and reiterate how subject 1 moves into subject 2 and keep doing that all the way to the end subject. It really helps me keep track of how everything is moving all together.

Good treatment of subject matter for newbies. The repetition, although excessive at times, reinforces the material. Instructor should perhaps include a couple of problems for User Level Threads vs Kernel Level Threads. Good course overall!

it was really overwhelming and i learnt so many things as basics which i should be knowing in my college days. The demonstration y the instructor is exemplary and i must he has explained with very detailed understanding even tough topics with great finesse.

Very detailed explanations of lectures. Examples are given in an extremely step-by-step manner and the overall structure of each of the four courses are well designed. Very suitable for people even knowing nothing.

The series was very good. Few suggestions are - 1 -> More problems 2 -> Timely response of queries on the forum. The explanation is very good. I did not find any difficulty in understanding any concept that he explained.

Besides covering file system & threads(which is very comprehensive) Mr Vignesh Sekar covers how these work together with the OS. Thoroughly explains how the harddisk operates (not SSD) both from logical/physical view and how it interacts with the OS. Including most commonly used disk scheduling algorithms plus numerous exercises to drive home the point. A top-notch course and a top-notch tutor!!!

As always, repetition of the more important concepts has been the key to better grasp of the topics. Vignesh seems to be very patient while explaining things. There have been instances where he could leave things unexplained but he never does so. If there is something that one should know for better understanding of the concept, he would always explain it briefly and would ask not to worry, in case someone doesn't get it, as it was anyways not that important.

I have completed all 4 Parts all are absolutely easy to understand just because explanation and examples given by mentor. I will also request to make a new series to meet industry needs in OS related add on concepts. Still I strongly suggest those who wants to understand OS one must complete all 4 parts. Thank You

The course is excellent in general, specially the section related to file system. However, the thread section I think need a little more work (I have watched previous OS courses, I Know Vignesh has made a wonderful job)
