Course Description

A Verifiable Certificate of Completion is presented to all students who undertake this course.

Training Course Duration: 5 Hours - 55 Lessons

In this Photo Restoration training course from Andy Anderson, you will learn the art of restoring photos, using Adobe Photoshop. Andy is an Adobe Photoshop expert, and his entertaining teaching style makes learning what can be a complex topic, easy and fun. This video tutorial is designed for someone who already understands the basic tools of Adobe Photoshop, and wants to learn how to specifically apply those tools to restoring photos.

Andy starts this tutorial with the setting up your workspace. You quickly move on to learn some basic techniques for straightening your photo, removing red-eye and moving from grayscale to color. As you progress, you learn how to reassemble torn pictures, remove scratches, clean up stains, correct exposure, correct color, and repair and remove details. You will even discover how to add details to your pictures! Finally Andy introduces you to some finishing touches, such as vignetting and creating matts for your images.

By the conclusion of this computer based training video, you will be comfortable with the tools used in Photoshop to restore images, and have a clear understanding of how to correct and fix your own images. Working files are included to allow you to use the same files the author uses throughout this training course on Photo Restoration With Photoshop.

The course was very helpful. In the past I have read about many of the techniques used, but the exercises provided with the reading material were difficult to follow at times. The videos in these lessons were pretty easy to follow. I would like to see the course upgraded to use Photoshop 2024 because of the improvements over Photoshop CS5.

Solid course and Andy put some life into this course. The only reason I didn't give it 5/5 is because the course needs to be updated. There are new and better ways to do many of these things, for example: sky replacement and auto colorizing photos are available in photoshop. Without knowing those things, people are going to be putting much more unnecessary effort

Andy's passion for history and photo restoration inspired me to learn more about the subject. He has a lot of respect for people in each image and helped me understand the importance of doing a good job in restoring images which otherwise would be lost for ever. In this course he helped guide me step-by-step from some basic to more advanced methods in a clear and engaging way.

I loved this course. What struck out to me was the passion of the instructor. He made a significant difference in my interest in the course; he doesn't stutter, mumble, or go on long pauses and he always keeps you engaged. I also learnt a lot from the actual course - one of its good bits in particular are that Andy shows ways to create the same effect using different techniques. Highly recommend

Very clear, and precise descriptions, suggestions, and tutorials. Easy listening voice... sprinkled with humour. Works slow enough to follow and explains very well the 'whys' and 'hows', as well as giving several options for alternate possibilities with a project. Even though it's not a tutorial for Photoshop per se.. Andy explains the program quite well as you follow along. Excellent teacher. I love his style.

Many thanks Andy. Really enjoyed this course and have gained a hell of a lot from it. Didn't work through the examples, just sat back and watched you do your magic. Will now get out all my old photos, some of which are also on plate and will run through the video again while I "restore & manipulate" them and maybe even colorise them. If you have any other coures on Photoshop or photography I would love to see them. Regards Jerry Mallett (Northern Ireland)

The presenter and the presentation is so good, please do more photoshop courses. I love that we get to play with the same files as the videos - it helps so much. The presenter is clear, easy to understand, and is neither too slow nor too fast - my favourite one so far on udemy. My only issue is that this course obviously hasn't been updated in a while. There have been a couple times so far where I've had to go away and google, as some functionality has changed (e.g. rotate and crop using ruler). I would give it 5 stars if this was ever updated.

Very informative step-by-step instructions. I will have to see if he has written a book because a lot of these instructions are very detailed and precise which I will probably not remember at a later date. Overall, Andy presented some very knowledgeable and promising techniques that should help me in my restoration of family photographs.

Disappointed to be honest. While many of the tips are still relevant this course uses an old version of photoshop. The restoration content is ok but needed to set out how to create a plan to restore. The sound is poor and it looks dated.

I try to do too much with Photoshop, and photography in general, and have been narrowing my scope to what interests me the most. Restoration is at the top of the list. This course covers all the tools and tricks you need to accomplish simple and sophisticated restorations. I've been using Photoshop since it was invented, and am one of the people the instructor speaks of in his closing comments: someone who thought it was all too complicated. It is, of course, to some degree, but once you get familiar with the tools, it all comes together. Andy Anderson's love of this topic comes through, he keeps you interested. Take this course, you'll learn enough about Photoshop to use outside of specific restoration tasks.
