Our take
Based on the ratings of 5,539 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in October 2023. No course pays to be reviewed.
Adnan Waheed's course is a very long, very slow walk through PostgreSQL for people starting from nothing. It runs 67 hours across 629 lectures, and the syllabus covers tables, data types, constraints, joins, JSON, indexes, views, subqueries, CTEs and window functions. Nearly 44,000 students have enrolled, and it holds a 4.5 rating from about 5,500 reviews. The listing also promises PL/pgSQL, triggers and partitioning, though the listed sections stop at window functions. The last update was October 2023.
Happy reviewers like the pace. One says the steps are explained at a level for a newbie, and a developer coming from Oracle says it goes through all possible content with lots of examples. The complaints are consistent too. Several reviewers say there is little on why you would use a feature or how to combine features in real work, and one calls the classes cheat sheets. Others dislike how often the same create database, create table and import data steps repeat, and the many small sample databases. A few criticize the English and the audio clarity, and two note that nothing covers installing on Linux.
On value, it suits learners who want one long course that leaves little out and who don't mind skipping through the repetition. There are no quizzes or coding exercises, so practice is self-directed. Anyone who already writes SQL will find it slow, and experienced reviewers say the harder parts get only a brief explanation. Beginners who learn by watching and copying commands get the most from it.
Pros
- Slow pace and step-by-step explanations that reviewers say suit newbies
- Covers a lot of ground: joins, JSON, indexes, views, CTEs and window functions
- Plenty of worked examples on sample HR and Northwind style databases
- Reviewers who already knew some SQL say they still picked up new things
Cons
- Heavy repetition of create database, create table and import data steps
- Often described as light on the why and on real-world projects, with no Linux install help
- Last updated October 2023, with no quizzes or coding exercises
I haven't finished the course but looked ahead and I can say its easy to learn and practical. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in learning postgres whether you're trying to be a DBA or not.
Labeled All Levels, but it really suits true beginners. Reviewers with SQL experience call it slow.

I would like building a vocabulary straight away. Example: introduced the term schema without explaining what Schema is by analogy with other programming or db environments.

I took this course as an Oracle Database Developer looking at fundamental changes in the way PostgreSQL handles things. This course is intended for complete beginners and it goes through all possible content. Lots of examples to understand the basic concepts. For someone with experience this course may be a bit slow and it only briefly explains the complex parts. I might have passed by, but I don't recall hearing about why the "public" schema should exist in a production scenario. When I used PostgreSQL a while back, it was always recommended to just drop it.

Personally my experience is good. The course was good. It was a fairly in-depth course for the capabilities of PostgreSQL. Best course for learning PostgreSQL from basic.

I'm just in the beggining (section 3 lesson 22) and everything is still very easy, i have a background with PostgresSQL but i never learned with anyone just learned by doing. It's good to get some bases and restart from the basic hopefully in the end of the course i will have a much more solid toolset in my pocket.

This is really a great course. It opened my knowledge of PostgreSQL. Adnan is a great teacher as well. I will always recommend.

It just explained the above side of the course, actually beginners need learn from the core of the courses. Actually Why we learn sql where we use sql, every comma and semicolon uses etc are needed. But this was not seen where I saw video so far.

Thank you Adnan! Absolutely Outstanding PostgreSQL Course! This course exceeded all my expectations! The instructor has done a phenomenal job in breaking down complex PostgreSQL concepts into clear, digestible lessons. Whether you're a beginner or someone looking to deepen your database knowledge, this course is a goldmine. The hands-on exercises, real-world examples, and well-structured modules made learning both effective and enjoyable. I especially appreciated the focus on performance tuning, advanced queries, and practical use cases — it’s clear the instructor knows their stuff! Highly recommended for anyone serious about mastering PostgreSQL. Thank you for such a valuable learning experience!
