This course leverages Python to build a fully functioning eCommerce website and application using the Django framework.

Why eCommerce? Why not social networking?

I do have course called Tweetme that covers building twitter-like service. That course will show you how to create a social network step-by-step. I do encourage you to take that course but I'll say this course should be taken first for a key reason...

Validation. Proving any project is worth your effort and time can be very challenging. Proving that a social network is viable is also VERY VERY challenging. eCommerce, on the other hand, it's very clear if your project is working: it's either making sales or it's not. 

Here's the thing. I want you to build a super successful project and change your life as a result of that project. I believe the only way you can do that is by committing yourself to working through projects from start to finish. This project is the result of everything I've ever done and learned in programming.               It all started with an idea. I wanted freedom... badly. Freedom from work, freedom from boredom, and, most of all, the freedom to choose. This simple idea grew to define me; it made me become an entrepreneur. 

            As I strived to gain freedom, overtime I realized that with everything that you do you can either (1) convince someone, somehow, to do it with you or (2) figure out how to do it yourself. 

              Due to a lack of financial resources (and probably the ability to convince people to do high quality work for free), I decided to learn. Then learn some more. Then some more. My path of learning website design started a long time ago. And yes, it was out of need not desire. I believed I needed a website for a company that I started. So I learned how to do it. The company died, my skills lived on... and got better and better. 

              It took me a while after learning web design (html/css) to actually start learning programming (web application, storing "data", user logins, etc). I tinkered with Wordpress, believing it could be a "user" site, but I was mistaken. Sure there are/were hacks for that, but they were hacks/work-arounds and simply not-what-wordpress-was-indended-to-be. Wordpress is for blogs/content. Plain and simple.

A very detailed and comprehensive course on Django covering almost every feature in Django. If you are totally new to Django, check out Justin's Try Django series on his YouTube channel as this course is not for beginners. For someone who has some experience with Django but wants to get really good at it, this course is perfect.

Justin is really experienced on Django and best in teaching. As someone mid level, sometimes i find his style sloppy and overcomplicating things yet he grasped well django internals and make new comers meet many related concepts like managers, signals and custom user models. I am expecting him to deliver a good project based on DRF and React, which is a much more modern stack and easier than spagetti views.

The course is horrible and extremely erratic. The author tends to change his mind and do things in a different way halfway through the explanation. Very often he randomly remembers something and changes the code retroactively. He loves to show approximately 1 trillion ways to do one thing, which is unpythonic by definition. As a result, the codebase is a mess, the code quality is low, there are tons of commented parts and unused code blocks with "different ways to do a thing." In the end, you won't learn systematically from the course. The course is just an erratic and messy overview and should be named "How to write some messy eCommerce spaghetti code with Django."

the course videos are on two sites. the videos on udemy and https://www.codingforentrepreneurs.com/courses/ecommerce differ slightly. Tutor asks students to join on codingforentrepreneurs but requires sign up and extra payment. I was able to only access first two sections of videos. others sections keep asking for payment.. The Tutor need to solve this issue. I reported this issue but no answer until now..

I haven't completed the course yet, but I have completed up to section 8 of the course. So far the course has been pretty good. I like course content and the instructor does a good job covering things. My biggest complaint against the course is that the instructor is completely absent from the course questions nor is there a TA to help assist either. It's unfortunate because this could have been an excellent course had the instructor been more involved with the students.
