Course Description
Use Python to Understand the Now and Predict the Future!
Time series analysis and forecasting is one of the key fields in statistical programming. It allows you to
see patterns in time series data
model this data
finally make forecasts based on those models
and of of this you can now do with the help of Python
Due to modern technology the amount of available data grows substantially from day to day. Successful companies know that. They also know that decisions based on data collected in the past, and modeled for the future, can make a huge difference. Proper understanding and training in time series analysis and forecasting will give you the power to understand and create those models. This can make you an invaluable asset for your company/institution and will boost your career!
What will you learn in this course and how is it structured?
First of all we will discuss the general idea behind time series analysis and forecasting. It is important to know when to use these tools and what they actually do.
After that you will learn about statistical methods used for time series. You will hear about autocorrelation, stationarity and unit root tests. You will also learn how to read a time series chart. This is a crucial skill because things like mean, variance, trend or seasonality are a determining factor for model selection.
We will also create our own time series charts including smoothers and trend lines.
Then you will see how different models work, how they are set up in Python and how you can use them for forecasting and predictive analytics. Models taught are: ARIMA, exponential smoothing, seasonal decomposition and simple models acting as benchmarks. Of course all of this is accompanied by homework assignments.
Where are those methods applied?
In nearly any field you will see those methods applied. Especially econometrics and finance love time series analysis. For example stock data has a time component which makes this sort of data a prime target for forecasting techniques. But of course also in academia, medicine, business or marketing techniques taught in this course are applied.
Is it hard to understand and learn those methods?
Unfortunately learning material on Time Series Analysis Programming in Python is quite technical and needs tons of prior knowledge to be understood.
With this course it is the goal to make modeling and forecasting as intuitive and simple as possible for you.
While you need some knowledge in maths and Python, the course is meant for people without a major in a quantitative field. Basically anybody dealing with time data on a regular basis can benefit from this course.
How do I prepare best to benefit from this course?
It depends on your prior knowledge. But as a rule of thumb you should know how to handle standard tasks in Python.

Die Inhalte werden vom Sprecher gut erklärt. Der eingeblendete Text enthält leider viele falsche Wörter. Es macht den Eindruck, als würde eine automatische Spracherkennung verwendet, die mittelmäßig funktioniert. Beispielsweise wird aus "R" -> "out world". Insbesondere wenn man mal ein wort nicht verstanden hat ist der Text leider nicht hilfreich.

it covers a great deal of material but in a rushed manner. I think a great way to compensate this would be to add additional homeworks with various cases. For example add one or two homeworks on multivariate. Also add more complex cases and how to tackle them

Really helpful with many examples to follow through. Learnt more about time series analysis. Provides good hands on with the python libraries to use for time series analysis. Although we still have to put some effort to learn different options in the methods used.

I Had problems with prophet library. I took me many time to put it to work. In general I understood all topics, however, some times I culdn't catch some ideas but I know that I need practice and expertice. Topics I didn't understand well: Amount of lags How to read PACF and ACF plots

The course was good overall but the videos were kind of monotonous and felt more robotic than human. The concepts could have been explained more intuitively because I had a really hard time understanding why things are being done sometimes. But this is my personal experience and could be because I am relatively new to this field. Thanks for putting out this course!

Another highly educational course by Martin. If you've taken other courses by Martin, you'll know that he's extremely technical. No hype. No mistakes (I've spotted). He knows his material through and through ...and the material is by no means simple. He's visuals are always carefully prepared. No copy and paste with Martin. Kudos

Great Course for a beginner like me. Helps to have a better understanding of how Python can be used for time series forecasting. also explains concepts like stationarity, autocorrelation. In all, A good introductory course. Will still require more practice and more cases to master the topic. Thank you R-Tutorials Training.

The video course is great for a beginner to time series analysis. I already knew some Python but as far as time series skill are concerned this was new terrain for me. Overall the course has an intuitive structure and the videos are well edited. The timing of slides and text is really helpful.

Nice course so far. Instructor seems knowledgeable and the video quality is great in combination with all the slides and supplementary materials. Overall there are some things in the course that are now shown elsewhere. Finding these things myself would have cost me a lot of time. For me that was money and time spent well.

Nice course, but somewhat superficial. For instance, it talks about exponential smoothing but does not show the formulas underneath. I would have liked more details on the algorithms, how the fitting works, etc. Still, it was useful and I enjoyed it.
