Course Description

Learn Network Programmability and Network Automation using GNS3 and Python version 3.

This course is based on Python 3.

Want to program networks using Python, but not sure where to start? Well, this course will show you how you can start programming Cisco networks within 20 minutes.

This course was created for network engineers. There are too many other Python courses out there that try to make network engineers software developers. Instead of teaching network automation, they teach you Python theory. This course is different.

This course is practical. I won't talk about programming in abstract terms and make you wait before you can start automating networks. I will show you how you can quickly and easily start network programming by using GNS3, Cisco IOS and Python.

You will see demonstrations of the configuration of both Cisco routers and switches in GNS3. For example, how to configure multiple VLANs on a multiple switches, or how to configure OSPF on a router and more.

This course shows you practical examples of using Python to programmatically configure Cisco network devices rather then just talking about it.

The days of configuring Cisco networks only with the command line interface (CLI) are drawing to a close. You need to add network programmability using Python and APIs to your skill set.

Learn how to automate networks using:

- Telnet

- SSH

- Paramiko

- Netmiko

- NAPALM

Tools such as NAPALM and Netmiko make it easy to configure and interact with network devices using an API such as NETCONF or using SSH. Don't reinvent the wheel. Use the tools available to you to quickly and easily automate your networks.

Some comments about the course:

"Knowing the material from just the first video would have saved me hours of work and rework in the past."

"It's the easiest, most fun, and most valuable course I've completed yet on Python Programming for Networking. Love it! Thanks again David!!!"

"Excellent course on Network Programming using Python with lot's of practical network configuration examples."

"Great way of explanation.Nice video and inspiring words! Thank you so much David. You are genius."

"I've been doing network automation for a while, even so, I've learned new things through this course. The instructor start from a basic example, adding improvements in each step. It's a skill that's worth it."

"A must for all network engineers who want to learn python!!! I had very "very" basic programming skills, and couldn't just get the bridge between network and programming (mainly Python - since that's where the hype is now), this course was amazing, I have never been glued to a training course since I can remember. The couple of things I loved the most about this course: 1- David's clear voice. 2- Real world application, not only will David interduce different real-world practical modules that you can import and use, but he shows you how to apply them on ios devices."

"Excellent course on Network Programming using Python with lot's of practical network configuration examples. High quality content."

Awesome presentation. I have taken other Udemy python3 courses, which covers the fundamentals. This covers that plus how to create scripts to connect to Cisco IOS devices. I have taken some of the function codes and changed it to connect to Arista switches. Automation is so much better than cut and paste methods of the past. I have done some automation with CiscoWorks and CiscoOne with mixed results -- once I got locked out of a router and had to console into the router. WELL DONE! Thank you! PS I have taken your Udemy CCNA courses to prepare for CCNA. I took exam in June 2023. Many thanks!

It will be nice to have video going over some other topics in python (is , is not, return, break, and , or , and more logic). Also, how to find pre-built codes or libraries to import. Beside, Netmike and Napalm, how to /where to find other libraries ?

It was very easy to follow the instructor as he walked through the course step by step. He went the extra mile in explaining the downloading the procedures and making sure we loaded our preferences first before starting the program. Possibly the best instructor I have experienced. He was the right man for the job.

I already have fairly amount experiences in working with Cisco IOS like XR in 5K, 6K and 8K serious. I like the course begins with GNS3 basic gui installation and create a simple topology so far. Hopefully it also easy to install VM during the upcoming session. I used to worked with VM ESXi, but they're not free to public. Nice you can provide in next session which VM is kind of free or affordable to purchase for this course. Updates: Just finished the entire course. Excellent materials and easy to follow. Still 5 stars review. Only thing maybe just include a note at the very beginning in lab setup that VM workstation is nice to have for $200.00, but VM player is free and can do the same for this course. Also heads up for VIRL annual subscription is around $200.00 if need to download the IOS router and switches images as minimum requirement to install them to GNS legally. Otherwise the Cisco VIRL lab cloud version is free via reservation systems but limited to couple hours etc. Since I can use VM workstation pro for my company, that's okay for me as company expenses for future commercial uses. But the free VM player is as good for Non-Commercial use. Thank you so much for putting together this course. It's a must for someone to get jump start on Python or Python3 if working in Network testing/engineering. Would recommend to add/offer new courses to use Python with prominent network/protocol test tools like SPIRENT or IXIA API with python libraries as alternative to the more mature TCL API.

The best course for Python Network Programming. Just finished the other course from David Bombal, "Linux for Network Engineers: Practical Linux with GNS3". And now need to jump to python. It covers everything you need to learn and practice. Excellent course, David Bombal! Thanks
