Our take
Based on the ratings of 58,475 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
David Bombal's course is a long, lab-heavy introduction to networking pitched at the Cisco CCNA 200-301. It runs about 73 hours across 580 lectures and 75 sections, covering binary, IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, spanning tree, static routing, DHCP, DNS and NTP. A big share of it is Packet Tracer and GNS3 labs plus Wireshark demos. Over 300,000 students have enrolled, and the rating is 4.7 from more than 58,000 reviews. The last update was September 2025, so the material is reasonably fresh.
Reviewers who like it praise the practical labs, the demos on real devices and how simply hard topics get explained. One says it covers more than the exam needs, enough to do the job in real life. The complaints are consistent. Several low-star reviewers call it disjointed, like a pile of YouTube videos, with older clips mixed in, topics such as loopback and duplex appearing out of context, and a few broken resource links. Others say he talks fast and assumes background knowledge, which hits true beginners hardest.
Value looks strong for the length, and fewer than 1,000 of roughly 58,000 ratings are one or two stars. Treat it as a lab-heavy companion to CCNA study rather than a clean, linear class. Next to the CompTIA Network+ options on its page, it is the Cisco-flavored pick. Absolute beginners may want a short intro first, while people with some IT background will get the most from it.
Pros
- Lots of hands-on Packet Tracer, GNS3 and Wireshark labs, including DHCP, VLANs and spanning tree
- Covers the CCNA 200-301 topics, and one reviewer says it goes past the exam into real job skills
- Subnetting gets plenty of room: a cheat sheet, two Packet Tracer labs and a set of practice vlogs
- Well rated at 4.7 from over 58,000 reviews, with an update in September 2025
Cons
- Low-star reviewers call it disjointed, with older clips and topics that pop up out of order
- Fast pace and assumed background make it rough for true beginners despite the Beginner label
- At about 73 hours it feels long to some, with repetition and a few broken resource links
It covered more topics than necessary so you could not only pass the exam but actually do the job in real life.
Labeled Beginner with no prerequisites, but reviewers say it suits people with some IT basics best.

Its good and i like the practical stuff, and also it’s more like so integrated course, and we can learn everything in it. I’m smelling that till now.
By Jeffrey Slabas on 8/29/2026
The course was really really informative. It covered more topics than necessary so you could not only pass the exam but actually do the job in real life. It was updated with the current issues in networking. Can’t emphasize enough if your doing CCNA do the labs and watch this lecture

Clear, concise, and very well done. I realized a bit in, that I had forgotten a lot of the terms, and information. I feel more confident now, and my brain is overloaded haha! Great course, thank you!
By Christof Kälin on 7/2/2026
I took this course as a repetition of my studying it 10 years ago. I do not even strive for CCNA, but the fundamentals are teached very good here and can be applied on non-Cisco environments easily.

it is very informative but some basics have to be covered before diving in this course. i recommand the network basics course from ciso to be able to understand some unclear details in this module. i hope this comment will be visible to other students
By Itai Zigdon on 4/2/2026
This course gets the job done but it just seems like a bunch of youtube videos joined together. Some videos are old and of poor quality. Course is lacking coherence and a clear structure, and could have probably been half the length.
By Sviatoslava Ptitsa on 3/20/2026
I took this course not for the exam, but to foster my understanding of networking. Basically, I needed it to speak with my team members on the same language. The result is great! I now understand subject much better. Definitely will re-watch and re-do all labs, if I will ever want to become real network engineer.
By Konstantinos iatrou on 3/2/2026
I tried learning networking in the past so many times . Once in uni, that turned out to be the most basic knowledge ever, and one in an online course which the explanations and the pace were horrible . I thought that i will never be able to learn networks, untill i found your course . I dived deep to it for 5 months, did labs , practiced scenarios on my own , asking constantly "why" and "how" . The amount of knowledge i gained from you is unimaginable . I loved your clear explanations , the immediately practice labs after theory , and many more . Thank you so much David!
By Rajesh Upadhayay on 2/17/2026
It’s a very good course with a nice balance of theory and practical sessions. I have one suggestion: if possible, please add more troubleshooting videos and one section for Wireshark detailed videos. Also, the cheat sheets are missing—I’m unable to download them for revision purposes
By Choedak tenzin on 12/25/2025
I have attended the on-line David B CCNA course with no knowledge about Network. After completing the course, i have started the building my own home-lab and preparing for exam. Thank you, David.
