Our take
Based on the ratings of 4,760 students and a sample of their written reviews, the syllabus, the course as of September 2020. No course pays to be reviewed.
A free, 87 minute introduction to Selenium WebDriver using C#, split into 17 lectures across four short sections. Tod Vachev walks through the main element selectors (ID, name, class, CSS path, XPath), then the awkward page elements: text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns and JavaScript alerts. He hosts a practice site built for the course, so there is somewhere to try each locator straight away. It is aimed at manual testers and QA interns who have never automated anything, and reviewers with no programming background say they kept up fine. Anyone already comfortable with Selenium in another language will find little new here.
Students praise how clear and unhurried the explanations are, and several 5-star reviews are surprised the material is free at all. About 4,760 reviews average 4.4, with the great majority at four or five stars. The complaints are about scope, not quality. One 4-star reviewer wanted more on creating and organizing projects in Visual Studio, which the course skips. Another wished the final framework section, only two lectures and nine minutes, was more hands on. A 2-star review sums up the mood: it needs to be longer. The last update was September 2020, so the tooling on screen is a few years old.
Treat it as a taster. The other Selenium courses we list are long Java or Python programs that go all the way to frameworks and CI, and this one stops where they get going. It is the only C# option in the group and the only free one, and it comes with no certificate. If C# is your team's language and an hour and a half is all the time available, it is a sensible first step before paying for something bigger.
Pros
- Free, and reviewers say the pace suits people with no programming background
- A dedicated practice website built for the course lets students try each selector right away
- Covers alert boxes, dropdowns, checkboxes and radio buttons, the elements that trip up newcomers
- 4.4 stars from about 4,760 reviews, with most of them at four or five stars
Cons
- Only 87 minutes long; the framework section is two lectures and nine minutes
- Does not explain how to set up and organize a Visual Studio project
- Last updated in September 2020 and offers no certificate
A very simple way to understand how to locate website elements using Selenium. A course clear and focused.
Listed as all levels, but it is a true beginner course; basic loops and if statements are enough, and C# knowledge helps but is optional.
What you will learn
- Work with ID, Name, CSSPath and XPath selectors
- Work with Input boxes, Check boxes, Radio buttons, Alert boxes and more

Course Description
Selenium is a free automation testing tool for web applications. It is able to work with different browsers like Chrome, Firefox, IE, Opera and simulate human like behavior. Selenium is able to interact with all the different elements in a webpage. It can click on them, input text, extract text and much more. By covering all the different functionalities on your website with Selenium tests, you will be able to quickly catch new and reappearing old bugs. This will save your team time and money.
Specially for you, I have prepared a website where you can play around and practice your skills.
The website has special elements designed specificly for the course and for you to be able to easily work with them and learn.
In this course we will focus on Graphic User Interface and Functionality Testing and we will learn how to work with the various selectors that Selenium offers us to use like:
- Name selector
- ID Selector
- Class Name selector
- CSS Path selector
- X Path selector
After that we will learn how to work with some special elements like:
- Input text boxes
- Check boxes
- Radio buttons
- Drop down menus
- JavaScript Alert boxes
We will also have a few theory lectures in which I will explain when you should use either of these selectors, how to inspect elements and what is an Automation Testing Framework and why do we need to learn how to create one.

- Programming, focusing on the C# Programming Language
- MATLAB, because this is a scientific tool that no scientist can do without
- Running Online Businesses that Earn Passive Income
For the past four years I have focused on the above and I have never stepped into the 9 to 5 world, I have worked in a company only once in my entire life and it lasted only 2 months. That's when I realized that, I can't learn the things that I want and I can't buy the things that I want buy working for someone else. You should start working for yourself aswell!
It does not matter if you want to become a developer or to run niche sites around the web, you can do both of these things in your own time as a freelancer or a business owner. And I can teach you how to do both of these things.

Fantastic introduction to Selenium WebDriver with C#. The way the Instructor concisely brings various key tips on the typical issues that face Automation Engineers like dealing with Alert boxes etc; temperamental locators etc, into one quick set of videos is such great value. I can't believe he's given this away for Free!

After finishing this course my confidence level is high without having any programming background able to understand the course. His explanation is very simple and easy to understand. I would advised any one who want to learn Automation, this course very help full towards journey of Automation career. Thanks

Well explained and nicely broken down so that you can chip away at it as you please. There were a couple of more complicated methods which could have been touched upon more thoroughly and I would have liked a more hands on approach with the final module about the test framework but I presume that is covered in another course? Very pleased overall though.

One of the best Selenium Webdriver with c# course I have come across. I Have developed and implemented my first automation script into our one of the project after finishing this course.. The course is very informative. Live website example is bonus point to learn quick in short period of time. Thank you.

The course is very interesting and helpful for beginners. I regret only that course was shown in Console Application project, not as Class Library project and it wasn't a possibility to see a real test in Visual Studio. Themes are described very clearly. The author explains why the element is used and in how we can use it. It's very nice for beginners.

This course enabled me to get my new job as an automation engineer, Tod speaks fluently, very responsive, engaging with students and have real life projects for you to practice and improve your learning What i want him to improve is to update the last topic for Appium and cover a topic on Appium for Hybrid app testing. Also include interview Q&A for Automation roles Trust me it is a money well spent.. keep it up Tod

I really liked this course as it is straight to the point and the examples taken to explain the concepts are pretty straight forward. Just to let the prospects know about the course, this course is just basics of selenium and will only serve to know the fundamentals. This course doesn't teach the actual creation of tests itself. As this is a free course, I could see the intention of the instructor is to pull into the next part of the actual paid course which I think is quite convincing as I thought he demonstrated all the details necessary to create the actual tests for the testing framework. The reason I gave 4 stars is that I would have loved the course much more if there would have been a few more quizzes which are a bit challenging and fun oriented. There are only few right now and are very simple. All in all, I would give thumbs up to the course!

Hi Vachev Agreed your point, actually i got feedback form in middle of training, by that time your further videos which explain about by name/Id/class not finished. Hence got confused. Thanks for your reply. Your videos really good. Spending time on this course its worth. Do you any other videos which will help automation for manual QA guys?

This is a great course for a new person like me; trying hand on the automation. Thanks. However one suggestion, If you can use the element/attribute names bit specific like MyAlert instead of alert, which would help to identify the coding style in better way. Currently individual may not be aware about the syntax - where it is a standard one or provided within the program. Fantastic session, really helped me to be aware about Selenium.

I extremely like Todor's course. Firstly he speaks English quite well, clean this is important for me because my prior experiences was not good with some other instructors. Secondly his codes is truly simple English even if you have no idea about Selenium, Automation this is the course you must take. Todor always responsed me in a minute which was so helpful.
