SketchUp for Woodworkers: bring your designs to life in 3D (Udemy.com)

Very in-depth course on how to use Sketchup for your woodworking needs :) In the presentation lecture at the end, I was missing the tutorial on how to create exploded views for making your plans. And also, how to create your cut list so you know how much material you need for the project. But once you are equipped with the knowledge from this course it is easy to google the above solutions and understand how to make it :) All in all, a great course!

I took up CNC routers as a hobby a few months ago. I quickly learned the possible software options were overwhelming; until recently, I stayed mostly with 2D drawing programs where the 3d dimension of milling was just setting a depth of cut (what is often referred to as 2.5D milling). As my projects have become more complex, I grew tired of the iterations of drawing/cutting/modifying drawing/recutting required to get a project completed. After too much research, I chose to learn SketchUp and I am thrilled with the content of this course. I can now model in 3D, export the results into my CNC CAM software to lay it out on plywood (or whatever) and cut a project. This course did a great job of explaining how use SketchUp for my purpose of making wooden projects on my CNC router. Only wish would be to see Simon draw and explain a dozen more projects!?!?!?

Perfect for me as I will be using SketchUp drawings for the projects I will be making in my shop.

Great course! I was looking for a course specifically for Woodworking and Sketchup. I am new to Sketchup but learned a lot of new tips and tricks that will make my drawings better and more accurate.

So far it is very basic and the presenter is not very engaging. On the 4 short segment, he went into a more advanced skill - components but didn't give much background for new users. It should either be more advanced all around or more basic.

So far it has been a good match for me

The course is somewhat outdated, but even so the instruction is not very detailed for beginner Sketchup users, so I would not recommend this course for people trying to learn sketchup for woodworkers. If you're already somewhat familiar with sketchup and are looking for a refresher, I would not recommend this course either, since the information that you will learn from this is showing you some of the techniques that the instructor uses for his workflow, which might not work for everyone. I would recommend searching youtube for other tutorials on this subject

Still have no clue how to begin. At this point, I think I wasted my money.
Hopefully it gets better.

So far, there are no "hands on" exercises....just the instructor talking. My rating may change as I progress through the course, but as of where I'm at now, I'm a tactile learner and need to "watch and do" rather than "watch and hear."
