Course Description

This course is purely built on practice. And it's built on three main topic. Spring Boot, React and Test Driven Development.

After completing this course you'll be able to see the use cases of these frameworks and why they are so popular, and also you'll experience the power of test driven development methodology. We will do refactoring a lot, and nothing will be broken. Because our tests will be confirming the application is behaving as it's supposed to be.

We will be building a real life application. Each code piece we write, will be for our actual application implementation.

In each section we will gradually build our application. We will not jump ahead and add functionality not needed for that moment. We will implement one requirement at a time. Each implementation will bring the next requirement to us. And following this path will help us to feel and understand what are the frameworks doing and how they are easing application development.

We will see various practices about

  • how we can build a restful web service with spring boot with all necessary functionalities like validation, internationalization (i18n), static resource serving, caching, json manipulation

  • how we can handle database operations with spring data

  • how we can secure our application with spring security

  • how we can build a single page application (spa) with react

  • what is redux and how we can use it

  • how we can use react router

  • how we can replace class components with functional components by using hooks

and we will see

  • how test driven development (tdd) works.

  • how it's affecting our code quality, reusability

  • how it's giving us the confidence about refactoring our implementation

because of the tests we have for our components, we will easily convert our components from class to function. And we will use hooks and tests will make sure nothing will be broken after that changes.

The course is up to date with the latest Spring Boot version 2.5 and React 17

I think it was a very good course. It was easy to follow, the project was adjusted in a manner that there was not too much repetition and the topics were diverse enough. For example, I liked the fact that both ways of handling files was shown. It equipped me with the knowledge necessary to make a similar application. There is for sure much more about react and spring that could be shown. One of the missing parts would probably be deployment of the application: how do you set up prod. I do not treat it as a disadvantage to have been shown how react used to work in a previous version, although it does result in some confusion.

I wouldn't say that I am completely a newbie regarding Spring Boot or React. But still, I have problems following the instructor. The instructor doesn't explain sufficiently what he is doing and why. The instructor doesn't explain sufficiently, why he is using certain classes and what they are for. It seems to me, as the instructor would take some codebase, transcribe that in front of you and claim to you it is a course. Besides that, the instructor is too fast. I just have to slow down the video to follow up on the changes in the code that the instructor does. If you are new to Java / Spring / React world, start rather somewhere else.

i would have given this course a 10 star out of 5, had instructor talked slow. his commitment to TDD was excellent in this course. His knowledge is awesome and project is good one to learn. it is just course is too fast and students need time to grasp as he talks. it made me lose confidence at times, as instructor was talking fast and was hard for me to understand concepts in some of the lectures. i am sure this course is still the BEST if you have time to listen to lecture twice on some hard topics. This course can definitely help master react/boot, provided you have patience and time to listen twice on some hard topics. i would strongly recommend this course inspite of my mixed review as i dont think you would find a better react course than this one. This course covers some advanced topics in concised lectures.

With 50% of the course done, I have to say that this course is way above my expectations. I'm learning a lot of things about how to do the projects. The instructor gives various alternatives and says why that option is a good (or bad) way of fulfill the requirements. So, not only I'm learning TDD (real TDD, tests for everything!!), but React, Spring Security configuration, JSON Views, how to work with image files... Very happy with this course.

Excellent course from a really amazing lecturer who explains process clearly and some nuances that other courses simply miss out on. The out-dated material has an upgrade section and what's nice about it is that I picked up skills and the process of how to upgrade personal projects from out-dated dependencies. Overall I highly recommend this if you wish to step up your development skills, build more robust and reliable software and in general grow to be a better developer.

In the part with dependencies there are not mentioned newer versions of Spring Boot - e.g. 2.5.9, 2.6.3, 2.7.0 and how to deal with dependencies for these versions, especially test dependencies.

The course is excellent. The tutor's explanations are crystal clear and to the point. All lines of code in both frontend and backend are tested. I don't have experience on test driven development but I am 100% certain that the level of the tests done in the course are industry standard. Absolutely no shortcuts. Excellent refactoring as well. I had no previous experience with Spring boot but still enrolled for this course because I enrolled also for the Node JS TDD course and it is excellent as well. Also the tutor is very responsive so you will have all your questions responded to in record time and great detail.

This is a fantastic course for intermediate & above developers. If you know bits and pieces of React and Spring boot, then you can go ahead and buy this course just like I did. You will not be disappointed. Basar has done a great job in explaining the nooks and corners of everything he has covered. Not only does he give great tips for better coding, he also shows many ways to achieve certain functionalities and then chooses the best one out of it. Overall, I feel much confident in my Spring Boot and React knowledge after viewing this course along with a added plus of learning Test Driven Development. Note: Once again saying it not a beginner course. If you have basic understanding of Spring Boot and React you can take it up.

It's the first time that I write my review before ending a course (I'm very close to finish it anyway) but I do it because I can't wait to the end to let everyone know that this is the best course that you can find about Spring Boot and React and as if this were not enough, it's also the best course about TDD. I'm gonna take this course as a model to my everyday work and my personal projects. Also I'm very grateful with Basar because he always answers to all my questions in a short time. Just I wish that this course has hundreds of thousands of students because he deserves it. It's incredible how for 11 or 12usd you can get material like this. Don't doubt one more minute and buy it!.

This course enlighten me even as a 10 years of software developer. It is a very well packed and organized. It is also super beneficial to see how a complete web application created and understand the basics of the java and react foundation. Testing part is also very well explained but it might be better if you can also give us a brief of information on how a functional testing should be and what are the automation possibilities for it. Thanks again.
