Course Description

Welcome to the SwiftUI course

My name is Steve DeStefano, an iOS / macOS developer, and I created this course for anyone who wants to learn how to build beautiful apps with Apples new framework SwiftUI.

SwiftUI is Apples new Declarative building framework that actually might forever change the way apps are made.

Gone here are the familiar story boards, as well as auto layout, which was at times very frustrating to work with… this has all been replaced with intuitive new design tools within Xcode that make building interfaces with SwiftUI as easy as dragging and dropping, and using about 5 times less code then working with UIKit and storyboards.

SwiftUI is a declarative approach to building apps and it includes all of apples platforms… so build the app once, and deploy it on the other platforms very easily.

What is Declarative Programming?

Declarative Programming is a non-imperative style of programming in which we describe, or declare, the desired results without explicitly coding out the commands or steps that must be performed.

imperative programming is a style of programming that uses statements, in explicit steps to change a program's state…meaning, we would have to code the various components or views ourselves to make them show and hide...this is what we do with UIKit and storyboards

The key contrast between the two styles can be summed up with two words - WHAT and HOW -

Declarative programming focuses on what the program should accomplish, and imperative programming focuses on how the program should achieve the result.

This course will show you how to use this declarative approach and the SwiftUI features, and walk you through the process of building fun and stylish apps.

You will learn all about:

• Text views

• TextFields

• Images

• Modifiers

• State

• Object Binding

• Environment

• Lists

• Navigation

• Passing data back and forth

• Integrating SwiftUI with UIKit

• Stacks

• Animations

• Core Data

• CoreML

• SwiftUI and the Camera

• Shadows

• Shapes

• Gradients

• Forms

• Tab Bars

• Learn the Swift Language in the language section - here you can learn from the beginning on how to code in Swift with dozens of lectures that cover all you need to know to be proficient in writing code.

• Swift Language quizzes help you solidify your progress as you work through the language lectures

and much more…

So code along with me working with an incredibly cool and insane set of design tools - SwiftUI - and get a head-start on the future of app building.

rather clear. still I have doubts on the suggested way design is executed. it's a bit rough, this does not happen in real production environments where you have more design specifications. Some exercises seems to be overlooked.

Really great course. Stephen takes us through everything needed to build apps using the SwiftUI including all the essential elements including structs, initializes, functions etc so we can get a solid understanding. This is the perfect course for anyone that wants to get to grips with app development and Xcode. Highly recommended.

This is by far one of the best course on iOS 13 and Swift. I am not new to Swift, but learned it 5 years ago (wrote a couple of non trivial apps) when it first came out and then forgot most of it. I needed a course that offered a strong recap of the language fundamentals I could use as a reference and this is right on spot: comprehensive and to the point. I also wanted clear and to the point, course on Swift UI, because StoryBoard was seriously a barrier for me to write apps, it was important that the course be dedicated to SwiftUI entirely. Again right on point. The course format is different than most, where the code is entirely provided for each coding lecture. This was a bit difficult, because I am used to learn by doing/imitating. However, I found out that listening first and then trying to "re-code" the examples works well. Sometimes I would just create more Content Views in the same file and code/along, having more context about the code I am writing, because I listened to the lecture first.

I am at the beginning of the course, but I have learned more than I could have imagined. This course explains many things that the books I have gloss over. I have completed a shorter Udemy course on SwiftUI that was extremely helpful, but this is rather like going “Intro to Programming” to an advanced course.

Stephen is very good at explaining concepts. For me it would have been helpful to have more explanation up front on the "big picture" of Views, particularly about the syntax of the body property: what's allowed in the body. Also, modifiers can be confusing: how do we find documentation on goes in a View argument vs in a modifier, and what are the options for modifiers?

Great course. Finally all the basics described in a way I can understand. Stephen is an awesome tutor. looking forward to the sections where we start building apps.

The best course on iOS development using Swift UI, hands down! I love it. I'm excited about the opportunities that this course has to offer. Stephen DeStefano does an excellent job of explaining iOS developer concepts, especially for someone as inexperienced as myself. I'm certain that if I practice, I'll be an app developer in no time thanks to this course.

By Stefan Vogt on 10/6/2019

The SwiftUI Part is quite good. But this whole course is - to some extent - a bit of a rip-off. Since a basic understanding of Swift was required, I thought that these 11 hours videos would be all about SwiftUI. Well, it's not. Practically half of the course (chapters 4 to17) is about explaining Swift! It almost seems as if Udemy is trying to make it look more than it is.

I highly recommend all of his course. There is much reason why I recommend it? courses are always updated He is a very kind person who answered every my questions He has worked with Paul Hudson (Hacking With Swift) for a long times

I love your tempo and how you present the content. I have come across many programming instructors, you sound like the best of them. I am looking forward to the rest of the course
