Good course! I found the last part on Dashboards very interesting! Was hoping for more of that sort of content. The charts are very specific to a specific situation, so good to know, but don't think I'll be using them much. Recommendation is to keep the content for general use like advanced examples of Set Actions / Parameter Actions / Dashboards designs.

Some great examples and valuable techniques that thoroughly demonstrate more difficult data vizzes that I will be able to incorporate into my work. There is a thorough understanding of what Tableau can do, where some could be used with their JS API, it's really useful to have these skills included as well. Thanks again for all of your tips and tricks!

This course centered around the using of the To Pad and Padding functionality in Tableau to create some innovative charts. I found the Hexbin and Dashboard Navigating sections to be the most useful sections for me. Be sure to have a good foundation as the Instructor may go fast over complex functions. I had one computer running the video while working on another.

Many good things in this course. Helpful for someone at an intermediate level. I’m deducting a half staff for the Hamburger menu. It was insanely complicated. After hours and hours, I still couldn’t get the containers to fit correctly. This is not the fault of the instructor. Containers have a steep learning curve and are really hard to manipulate. Tableau really should make them more user friendly in future releases.

I loved this course. Too be honest after the first few topics I felt out of my depth and struggled with densification and padding and the Viola chart and did not appreciate their usefulness. However, the later videos do a great job explaining their importance and the rest of the course actually gets easier when you grasp these concepts. This is truly advanced stuff and requires actual hands on practice to grasp it but the homework exercises particularly are well structured to help delivering this level of understanding. The instructor is excellent and explains not just how to do something but why and gives good examples for the common pitfalls you may encounter. I would recommend this course but you need to have mastered the basics before considering it.

Yes, this was a good course for me. I want my tableau skills to stand out just a touch and so far this has helped with the theory behind some visualizations which is great! Understanding what is going on and being able to let the end user know what is going and how it is beneficial has been extremely helpful instead of just saying "Look what I made! Cool right? Not sure if it answers your question though..." Really wish I knew some of the techniques a long time ago!

Was quite impressed with the amount of information in this course. Explanation (history and people who helped develop it in Tableau), theory and then practice was a great format and was consistent with each visualization. The instructor was concise, clear and made sure to go more in-depth than some other instructors I've had. Thanks for the knowledge!

A fantastic course that helped me learn some of the most advanced tableau visualisations to enhance the user experience in any report. It taught me concepts like domain padding and data densification, tableau table calculations, visualisations like Viola chart, Hexbin chart, Sankey diagram, Likert scale chart and Hamburger menu navigation feature to make the dashboard stand out.

Great course. I learned a lot. Couple of comments. 1. Theory parts, hope to be strengthened. Of course I did not imagine I could get all the theoretical backgrounds after finishing the class, but it's too condensed I think. 2. Several charts was introduced. Some were great, but some were questionable. For me, the best was Likert scale chart, but the worst was Viola chart. In case of Viola chart, I thought this is not that efficient. It means we have to know so many concepts - like t and sigmoid - and have to go through very hard working to build it, but it does not represent the meaning of the data not that much. In terms of beauty of the visualization, Viola chart might be good, but in other respects, I cannot give high value on it. It's just a game of two dimensions and one measure. We have so many other ways to visualize those three beautifully. That's why I deducted 0.5 star from total of 5. 3. Before building a chart you introduced who invented such techniques for the first time and in which cases the chart can be used. This was especially helpful for me. If I hope to learn more, I can search their piece of works and their blog. Great annotations! 4. Hamburger menu, needless to say such a great skill. I really learned a lot from this capstone. Excellent way to learn this tool at a deeper level and the power of Tableau. But it's also refreshing to hear Ben talk about how long it takes to master things and how he struggles and how it took one guy 10 years to explain Table Calculations in English. Nice to know that your struggles are real and all the experts have experienced and this is not so easy as it looks!
