Take your WordPress knowledge to the next level

Are you looking to code premium WordPress themes that will pass the coding standards review on websites like themeforest?

Do you have great designs or you work with a designer and you have HTML/CSS/JS/PHP knowledge and you want to convert your designs into great WordPress themes?

Do you have some WordPress knowledge and you want to expand your knowledge and get deeper into the word of WordPress and be able to sell themes online?

Then this course is for you!

This course is the essence of my experience with submitting themes to themeforest. In these lectures, I will share everything I know about creating WordPress themes. After completing the course you will be able to create themes coded to match WordPress's and Themeforest's coding and security standards. You should have no problems passing themeforest's code review as long as you have a great design!

This is not a Design/CSS/HTML/PHP course!!! If you are looking for that, I am sure you will find a lot of other resources. In this course I will just focus on WordPress functionality. I will load some prewritten basic CSS I did for the theme that we will create, the goal is just to create WordPress functionality and understand WordPress in more depth. I will however teach you how to organize your CSS, compile SASS and minify your files automatically. Also you should have some basic PHP knowledge. I will not teach you PHP from scratch here, so if you are interested in taking this course, I suggest taking a beginners PHP course first!

Who is the target audience?

  • Developers who have HTML/CSS/JS/PHP knowledge and wish to create professional WordPress themes from scratch.

  • WordPress developers who want to take their WordPress knowledge to the next level.

  • WordPress developers looking to create premium themes that get approved on websites like themeforest.

  • Anyone interested in learning advanced WordPress and Javascript concepts.

I found this course to be of great value. Before starting it, I had some experience with PHP around 15 years ago. My career, however, moved to graphic design and later to photography. Recently, since COVID hit me hard in financial terms, I decided to go back to coding. I did a couple of FreeCodeCamp courses. Next, I decided to move to WordPress, as I used to work with it quite a lot before. I got a request from my friend running to reanimate her online shop, based on WooCommerce, as it was a total mess full of unnecessary plugins, not really responsive, and utterly slow. Thanks to this course, I was able to get 100 points in Google speed score for her shop. I think it speaks for the quality of Ali's work and is the best review possible. I also decided to buy his course on developing Guttenberg blocks, as I already trust his ability to teach such topics. Now what could further improve the course: 1. At times, sound quality is a little low, 2. It is slightly outdated as WordPress is heavily moving from shortcodes and widgets towards blocks, 3. Lack of WooCommerce support, and though you will be able to understand how to work with Woo templates after this class, it would be nice to get a quick overview of the files and process.

The information in this course is pretty good, however it is quite dated, but the concepts carry over for the most part. I definitely learned a lot about WordPress in this course. My biggest complaint is that sometimes Ali goes WAY too fast. I know you can pause the video at any time, but sometimes he goes so fast he's switching screens right after he finishes typing or pasting his code and it's tough to get to where he stops to finish writing my part. In the end, I enjoyed the class and I'm glad I took it. If Ali made a new class with updated WordPress concepts, I would probably take it.

I went through various WordPress development course and some valuable tricks were missing and This current one made me understand more on WordPress Theme Development and I even got my Theme (frannawp) approved on the repository. This course will always be a reference if there is something I need to do. The basics about Gulp and NodeJs are very useful to me and they make my work so easy and fast. The instructor is friendly and he answers all questions. I felt like talking to a friend I know from a long period. Waiting for more updates on the course

This was a course with the deepest inside into WordPress I have seen so far. The course may have some glitches compared to other courses on Udemy, but what maters for me is the technical skill I got from the course, not a bleeding shining video that covers only the surface of a topic. I would recommend every developer for WordPress this course, but also the other course from the same author for Gutenberg ( I did that course first ).

While going through this course I expected to not give it a great review. I can understand other peoples 'issues' with the course. The language issue is only minor, it made me go through at 1.5x instead of 2x, and as an English speaker I had to focus a little more, but it's not a bad experience. There are quite a few typing errors that happen through the course, some caught, some not. I see that as more of a challenge and a benefit than a problem. Troubleshooting and figuring out problems on your own is a crucial skill. All in all I think this course has some solid information about getting started building custom themes. It is more of an intermediate programming course / beginner Wordpress course. You will want to be comfortable as a programmer to web search specific functions and dig through documentation.

I'm in the middle of the course and I have to say that I'm more than satisfied. Most of the courses I watched before this were very outdated and this was the most recent one so I decided to take it and give a try. What I did is installing the very same versions of npm plugins and Wordpress in order to successfully follow Ali. You would guess, it wasn't easy at some points and there were problems with installing some npm plugins (this is my first time I've worked with those). But luckily Ali is a great man and tutor and he responded on Q&A very fast (I've expected days/weeks) like in next couple of hours. He helped me resolve the issue and I've continued with lessons. Regarding the course content itself, it is awesome. Resources, both in terms of files and links are provided in lessons, so you can follow everything properly. Ali explains things in details, explains how code works, what is used where and why, and what it is the important part for me, his voice is not boring so he keeps attention, and he talks in some pace in a way that you don't waste time listening about something for too long or rewinding to hear it back. Everything is precise and well explained. TL:DR - If you want to learn Wordpress, I think Ali is a great teacher and this course covers more than you need for a beginner!

My Feed Back: The weakness point on this course is : 1) poor quality of explain The reason about functionality. 2) Not Clear Accent. 3) The Errors Which he Make in the course is to much !! i give him A star only for a quick super respond support

By Ankit Jindal on 10/20/2018

Ali Alaa explains each topic clearly and comprehensively. I have been able to follow his steps, mostly quite easily. Sometimes, my site is different from his, perhaps because I've set up a different theme and npm setup. he is very responsive to questions providing very detail answers. 1 Great course with valuable knowledge and information! It would be better if the course being updated with videos or notes on how to build the Premium Wordpress themes I can't imagine how this 17-18 hours passed away so quickly! The style of teaching is excellent. Almost covered most of the important & modern workflows and features Overall it's still a worth taking course. I highly recommend this course.

Really great course. Even if you already have a pratice of WordPress for years (like me), you will learn new things in this course. The topics are very usefull, the author masters his subject and the content and practice usages of WordPress are up-to-date for the last current version (I even discovered new functions that I didn't know it existed: exemple the_archive_title(), introduced in 4.1). I'm at 25% of the course but I can't wait to discover the following chapters. Just one very little minor point: sometimes the accent of the teacher makes you have to rewind a little bit to really understand what he said (and in this case the traduction does'nt really help), but overall the spelling is good and this doesn't affect the comprehension of the course. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS COURSE
