FAQ
- "My company doesn't use Microservices. Should I still take this course?"
Yes! Microservices Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture are core skills for any senior software engineer and software architect. Once your company is ready to migrate to Microservices Architecture, you will play a vital role in this transition. Your knowledge and skills will help your company migrate successfully, avoiding all the common pitfalls and anti-patterns. This will help your company save a lot of money, which will ultimately help grow your career.
- "There are many other courses on Microservices Architecture. How is this course different?"
Unfortunately, many courses on Microservices follow (and sometimes even copy) widely available articles and often outdated purely theoretical books without necessarily having the real-world experience to distill what is important and correct. In this course, I bring you years of my personal experience working on large-scale systems at companies like Google and Maginte (formally Rubicon Project), as well as the most up-to-date lessons of thousands of industry leaders and software architects, sharing knowledge in the most prestigious software architecture conferences. This course will bring you real-world knowledge that you can confidently apply in practice within your company.
- "Does this course involve any coding?"
No. This is a Software Architecture course primarily focused on Microservices Architecture. It is not a programming course. The skills you learn in this course are applicable to any programming language, cloud vendor, or technology stack. One of the main advantages of this approach is while technologies get outdated very fast, the knowledge you get from this course will last you for many years and will be equally applicable to any company you work for.
- "Does the course have any prerequisite?"
The only prerequisite is a few years of software development experience. Taking the Software Architecture & Design of Modern Large Scale Systems or having some software architecture experience is recommended but not required. This course will teach you everything you need about Microservices Architecture and Event-Driven Architecture.

Excellent course with clear, well-structured content that explains Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture through practica. Ideal for both beginners and experienced professionals looking to strengthen their understanding of best practices, patterns, and architectural concepts.

Pace was very slow. The course could have been shortened by 30%. T0o much time was spent on going very painfully slowly through the examples. The actual information on the course was presented in a very superficial way

The course is really good, I notice the experience of the teacher, is worthy to take. One improvement could be show us a technology to learn in parallel how to use kafka lets say and spring boot together with the course.

It is being very clear til now. Michael, the instructor, is very articulated and explains the topics in a very easy to understand fashion. I think the course content has been structured in a successful way, so one can build up the knowledge by just following the videos sequence.

Before taking this course, I only knew the basics of microservices. Now I have a much deeper understanding of the why, what, and how behind microservices and event-driven architecture. What I really liked about this course is that it doesn’t contain unnecessary long hours of content—it focuses only on what actually matters. The explanations were clear, concise, and practical. Thank you, sir

Great source of information. The course covers several microservice patterns, architectural concepts, and industry best practices. I often found myself thinking of questions as topics were introduced, only to discover that the answers were addressed later in the course. The content is well organized and builds naturally from one concept to the next. I highly recommend this course for both developers new to microservices and experienced developers looking to strengthen their understanding and improve the platforms they build and support.

This course was very helpful for me as a beginner. It gives you an overview of everything you need to know about microservices. The explanations are simple, short, and efficient. Now I feel like I can dig deeper into the topics and understand more advanced courses on this topic. I also really liked the workbook that was provided. It's a good resource to brush up on the topics that were discussed in the course. Overall, I'm really satisfied with the course, thank you very much!
By Ruggero Zanco on 3/28/2026
all the major concepts and best practises, pitfalls and advantages are clearly explained. For me it is a good way to put all together and reflect on the big picture with more awareness. I am involved in a big challenging project since a while and I already took a system design course from Michael so I felt the need to take this course too to pragmatically review the overall picture since I believe He is an exceptional teacher.

This course was really interesting and was the second course I watch from this lecturer. The information is really well broken down and easy to consume. There is a lot of room to dig deeper in the technologies but the main idea is well explained.
