I have looked up so many piano classes and this is by faaaaaar the best one! If you’re a total beginner or know a bit and want to actually know how to properly play with agility, then this is the right teacher for you. Really appreciate his clever tips and how he explains the piano. Other classes and teachers go into unnecessary detail on things that don’t really matter. The majority of us aren’t 5 years old! The teaching method feels geared towards adults at any stage of learning. You won’t fall asleep and you’ll learn faster with his tips and pacing and what he focuses on! Thank you!

I want to give the biggest compliments to Kingsley for making piano actually easy to comprehend. Background: My main instrument was guitar. I learned music theory and chord theory/voice leadings, etc. I know scales, chords, improvisation but wanted to learn how to play piano. I had some experience as a child but never went deep into it. I even bought the Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Level 1-3. I spent around a month and finished the first book but was frustrated with the progress. Kingsley jumps straight into chord theory, shapes, and gives a bunch of tips to learn quickly. I can actually play piano and play beautifully- and it hasn't even been a month yet. I've always dreamed of playing piano beautifully in the background for people, and now I actually can. Tips: Kingsley plays a lot of flashy things throughout the course. It's NOT to show off, but to really show his mastery as the teacher. Do NOT get frustrated by this. You WILL be able to play like he does if you stick with his method of teaching. Just listen contently to how he plays and appreciate the direction you're headed. He teaches you almost everything you have to know. For going over the circle of fourths (reverse circle of fifths), do your best to play. You don't need to have it perfect. Just play it and move on. If you pause for a little bit trying to figure out the next chord but actually play it, that's good enough and move on. When there are songs, he challenges you to play in all 12 keys, I STRONGLY recommend doing it. It doesn't have to be perfect. As long as you can figure it out, even with pauses, that's good enough! It took me ~3 days, or 2 dedicated hours of practice to play the song snippet in all 12 keys. You might zoom by it, or take longer, but that's okay. The point is to actually be able to do it all. This will prepare you for the next 12 key challenge he gives. The amount of valuable information and tips Kingsley gives in this course is INVALUABLE. You will NEVER be able to find ANYTHING like this in ANY book, YouTube tutorial, or piano article. His course is literally his life's works and observations he's compiled and made easily for people to digest. If you're totally new to piano, I'd recommend practicing a little more per each challenge he gives. Try ending the session with the practice he gives and start the next session with the same practice and see if it's any easier. I see a lot of comments talking about how there aren't a lot of practice times in this course. PLEASE use google and find your favorite songs. Chances are, if it's not a niche song, someone will have made a chord sheet for it. It's really simple to do and you'll be able to sound good while doing it. THAT'S your practice. Kingsley is also a gospel piano player. He will recommend a lot of Christian songs. I appreciate this since I've grown up with a lot of them and practicing piano to me feels like an act of worship now. I really appreciate your lessons and how you teach. This course is literally the first course I've seen from all of the resources I've bought and gathered that actually clicked in my head. From piano chord shapes to tips on how to play beautiful chords, I love this so much and you have my deepest appreciation. May God continue to lead you and be blessed in what you do. This course was literally an answered prayer. Some criticism: Lesson 46. Major and Minor 6/9 chords explained was good, but the tips to play this easily wasn't mentioned. Lesson 48 was where Kingsley showed how to play it easily! If you added a small section for lesson 46 on how to play 6/9 chords like you did in lesson 48, that would be very helpful for the new students! Thanks!

Learned lots of chords in this course and it can serve as a good reference in the future I can I forgot how to play some chords. Some exercises will take lots of time to master for those without previous piano background and they can be a bit dry imo. More fun if there are more song/melodic practice examples and exercises, add basic lessons on how to play compliment style piano using chords learned, and add basic lessons to simple piano song creation with chord progressions using the chords learned.

I learned a lot about chord voicings that I did not know before. I don't have perfect pitch or even good relative pitch, but sitting down at my keyboard and listening to where you said where to . play the notes was very helpful. I just have one request. The resource documents that you provide are in pdf format. I'm blind and can not read them. Can you give them to me in midi format? That way I can import them in to Logic X, Sibelius, or musescore. My email is rxdunmeyer@gmail.com. Thank you for your consideration. BTW: I purchased all six of your courses.

yes it was a great course. It ist really good subdividedin different topics. In certain cases the reeason for the use of the different chords were not emphasized. The teacher is fluent, the topic easy to understand and chronologically well structured. Added to it are some exemples to demonstrate the application of the chords in songs. Thanks for the Great leasons

So firstly I rate this course 5 stars! Oh my goodness …! I have got to be honest here. This course has been a game changer for me as a music producer. I have always wanted to upgrade my knowledge in music theory after having studied the basics of music theory. This course covers Jazz, RnB , Pop and even Musical Scores due to the in-depth explanations it provides. It shows you all the secrets in voicing basic chords to the most complicated chords as well as how to look at it and easily recognise whiles you play. The tutor is also very knowledgeable, he takes his time to give as many examples as he can and also explains them thoroughly. I have not regretted purchasing this course and it is worth every penny. Thank you Mr. Kingsley B Nkrumah. Now I can produce some RnB beats. ❤️

Best teacher here. I started with the gospel course, but it was too difficult to understand sometime. So stopped that and started this course and now everything is clear to me! Super. Next i will do the course with the scales and then go back to finish the gospel.

Too good to be true! So many complex chords broken down so that they are now achievable to play with lots of practice of course! The Drop 2 Voicings section finally cleared up the confusion I had there. The sections on Extended Chords were also really detailed and clear so that the complex chords now make sense with the "how to" provided to help us build the chords. This is going to be a course that I reference many, many times. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge Kingsley, we really appreciate it!

This course by Ben Kingsley is probably the best course on Piano I ever purchased on Udemy. It was so riveting I had to complete it like a good book. I made several notes on the lectures and I know I will definitely keep coming back to it for reference and instruction. Well done Ben. Like you always say "Excellent"
