Course Description
I was stuck in a job I hated and wanted a better paying career in industrial automation. PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming seemed very intimidating and I didn't think I was smart enough.
Even though I had learned some things about PLC programming from a theory perspective, I didn't have enough knowledge to be successful. I felt stuck like I would never be able to make it.
Then I started asking for help from an experienced programmer who seemed to make everything look so easy. He was programming these complex systems and I remember thinking "How does he even know how to program this stuff? It seems so hard!". He sat down with me and explained that even though I had learned some theory, I needed to start programming the RIGHT way and he was going to help me get there.
Over the next year, he would give me projects to work on. He would give me his example code as a starting point and explain why you had to program things a certain way in this industry. He had years of experience, years of trial, and error to reference back on. He knew what worked and what didn't, and that's what I was missing.
I implemented the techniques he showed me, and within just a few short years I went from going nowhere in the automation industry to being the lead automation engineer of a facility that produced millions of dollars of product per day, with over 100 PLC's on-site!
I compiled all of the techniques and other advanced skills I have learned from working as a controls engineer for 15+ years now and recorded those techniques on video.
Hi, my name is Robert Simons. I am the founder of PLC Training Academy. Today, I’m excited to announce that those videos I recorded are ready for release and are available online here on Udemy.
I call it, The Complete PLC Programming Course - 10 Day PLC Programmer
And inside, I am going to teach you how to go from just knowing what a PLC is to being able to program PLC's so well you'll make all your co-workers stare in amazement. And you'll get there in just 10 days.
Here's What You'll Discover..
Project-based lectures. We don't just have you follow along. You learn best when given projects to complete. Don't worry though, if at any time you get stuck we always cover the solution afterward
Program using real software. We show you how to download free PLC programming software that is used in the course
Real-world projects. I took over a dozen real-world projects that I have used in the field and turned them into labs, giving you an accurate programming experience
Here's what others had to say about the course:
Man, your course is awesome... the course was 10/10. Unlike typical training of "this is what you do, and that's all there is to it" your course was engaging and very easy to follow along… Being able to immediately apply the lesson into a program makes a huge difference… I feel I gained more from [The complete PLC Programming course] than I have at any of the (overpriced) vendor "trainings" I've been to in my career.
-Bryson Pendley, Instrumentation Technician
OK so I think this guy is underrated. Love his videos. Simple, easy to follow through and you make it look so easy although it's not so easy lol but thank you Mr Robert!
-Gloria Solomon
I have been programming for over 4 years, and I wish I had this course available when I started. This course would have saved me a lot of time… [The complete PLC Programming course] helps the student develop strong fundamentals for programming PLCs
-Christian Ramirez, Controls Engineer
Great presentation. The instructor's voice is monotone, however very informative. There are quizzes throughout the presentation for reviews. Also the instructor is very helpful when it comes to providing material and instructions to follow him.

Robert Simons
Hello, my name is Robert Simons and I am a Sr. Controls Engineer and PLC Programming Instructor. I have been programming PLC's for over 12 years, and most of that time was spent as a system integrator where I programmed and troubleshot just about every PLC, HMI, and Instrumentation equipment out there. I also taught PLC programming at a local university where I have taught dozens of students how to program PLCs.
While working in the field, nearly every time I have a conversation with an electrician or technician, they mention to me how much they would love to learn how to program PLC's. Because of this great need, I created both a course on PLC programming and a course on AutoHotKey. My goal is to create high-quality training material for you, available online, any time, at an affordable price so that you can advance in your career or just be a better you. Either way here's to your success! I'm glad you're here!

some points get skipped and some points are not explained clearly and for that we have to use some other means and it becomes kind of hectic, even if it seems easy but still some points are to be said so that we have a better understanding of what we are learning. but overall the content is nice I love it and keep it up.

Up to section 11, the course was good, informative one what needed to be known and taught step by step. From section 12 onwards, it was difficult to follow using a different program, also the step up from the previous programming to what is asked is vast which makes it difficult to follow the code on RSLogix. It would have been really helpful if the big projects was explained on RSLogix so we are able to follow the logic an understand what has been done.

Overall it is a satisfactory training class that provides a holistic overview of the PLC programming aspect. However, if you are a beginner with little to no electrical circuitry knowledge this may not be the class to start learning PLC. There is plenty of information presented that is very high-level those may lack additional details to really have a good transfer of knowledge about PLC. No doubt the professor is an SME in the PLC area and additional details would have solidified certain aspects of the PLC programming aspect.

As a beginner it was good...only towards the interesting sections when he switche to Studio 5000 for the advanced programs....Not having access to this studio 5000 software was so disappointing.

The course was great! Rob explains everything with a lot of detail and easy to follow step to step guides. It's also nice that the mistakes aren't edited out of the guides because they are common mistakes that can be made when writing ladder logic and it's good to see how to resolve it.

I work in Industrial Maintenance and work with PLC's quite often, this course certainly helped me gain a better understanding of the "brains" behind the box and I will most definitely be able to use this knowledge to my benefit!

Very good course, if you have no previous experience this will help you learn all the basics to get started. very well explained and the instructor makes it easy to follow and learn.

A really good course - very thorough, presented in a interesting way, and with lots of "hands on" activities. Even the occassional "errors" show what can often happen, and how to fix when it does. Very much enjoyed the three "advanced projects". I recommend!
