When I decided to take this course, I expected that I would find some interesting information in it, maybe even something new, and that it would mostly meet my expectations. However, this course drastically exceeded all my expectations! On the one hand, it confirmed some of my already existing habits and knowledge, and on the other hand, it also provided me with some absolutely new views on sketching and digital painting, all in an absolutely unobtrusive and relaxing way. It is full of extremely useful information and practical tips in the process of fast digital painting, it does an excellent job of painting shadows and coloristics in general. It absolutely deserves 5 stars, if I could I would give it 6!

Really awesome course, I've never really drew anything in my life, aside from scribbles when I was a kid. But at the end of the course, I'm drawing some really cool stuff. I thought that because the course was something specific in drawing it would be harder, but things really turned out the opposite, due to the nature of sketching on being more expressive than precise and since I'm a beginner and I don't have the motor skills to draw very precise and clean lines, it became way easier to learn than I expected. I loved it.

This course is a very-very-very good introduction to both drawing and painting. Basics like composition, lineweight and color are all explained very well. So later on when the drawing practice starts it is easier to understand what is going on. I took this course already having a (academic) drawing background, and still found the explanations very useful and easy to follow. For some of the stuff I knew I learned how to explain it better! I mostly wanted to learn the speedpainting, but I think the sketching part was also useful for me. I really liked the exercises shared in this course and had a lot of fun following along. This course also helped me to get more loose with my drawings. Overall speed-skething or painting is very fun! Thank you very much for this course!!

great course, very inspiring, I can not wait to put what I learned into practice, Colton was very easy to follow, very engaging, and very knowledgeable about drawing and I was able to learn from his navigations through photoshop how to use that program. thank you Colton, I would be interested in more of your courses.

I was a little bit annoyed that some of the principles used on the sketching modules were things that I'd already learned previously from a book. And then, there was a moment where, while doing a sketching exercise at the end of the module, everything just clicked and stuff that I usually find really hard just came together. I'm really happy on how that sketch came about and I bet there's still a lot to learn from the speedpainting modules. Once everything comes together, the lessons really work, great course!

I was expecting this course to be half sketching and half speed painting. Alas, this is mostly a sketching course. The sketching part is very good, but the speed painting part is way too basic. I was a little disappointed. I still learned quite a few things.

I really enjoyed this course, the teacher is great! Every lecture is prepared beforehand which makes it very easy to follow and entertaining. I loved learning about the thought process behind every painting and the tips/advices from the teacher were both useful and interesting. I feel like I learned a lot and would highly recommend this course!

At the start I was very intimidated by the the Inspiration assignment which is a bit too fast for a beginner to follow. But as soon as you complete the first few sections it becomes so much easier to draw and get your ideas out, great teacher. Only feedback I would have is to make it clearer when we're supposed to follow and draw and when we're just meant to listen.

I learned a lot by watching. The videos, especially early on, are information dense and a bit of a firehose. I'm taking this on the heels of another Udemy course that had a lot more interactivity and smaller chunks of lessons with loads of exercises. I think adding that over time to this course would move the needle much closer to 5-stars. Meanwhile, thanks for sharing all that you know - it's obvious you love this topic.

I just finished watching all the videos (I learn better when I go back and rewatch things a second time, because of memory retention issues) and I FINALLY understand how to paint a picture. I've been watching people do it my whole life but never understood the thought process or procedure. You explain everything in such a clear manner, and you demonstrate everything properly. Before this course, I've never had an art mentor demonstrate things in a way that I actually fully grasped what what being presented to me. You've helped me get over the fear of actually sitting down and doing the art, now I can actually become the artist I've always wanted to be.
