Codestars

Codestars is a community of instructors behind 100+ courses and over 3 million students worldwide. We were one of the first coding communities to build here, and we've kept building — across web development, mobile, cyber security,  and now AI-powered  development and automation.

We want to revolutionize the way people learn to code by making it simple, logical, fun and, above all, accessible. Our courses are built to teach real, applicable skills, taught by instructors who know the subject and know how to teach it.

Together, the instructors that make up the Codestars team create courses on all the topics that students want to learn in the way that students want to learn them: courses that are well-structured, super interactive, and easy to understand.

Whatever you're here to learn — from the fundamentals of programming to the latest in AI-powered development — you're learning from a channel that has already done this at scale, with millions of students, and a track record to show for it.

Thanks for the SwiftUI course. I have taken three other SwiftUI courses, which made this course easy to understand. For the WhatsApp clone app, I decided to use CloudKit instead of Firebase. I am looking forward to revisiting the code developed in this course as I move forward in my career developing SwiftUI applications.

I would give five stars if you would put subtitle in English manually instead of Auto as Auto display wrong subtitle almost all the time. Anyway I love your course and hope for more SwiftUI tutorials in the future maybe more on project-based. Thanks

Its a good tutorial to understand the very basics of Swift UI. I felt, instead of digging more on firebase chat related stuff, probably some of the advanced topics like animations, custom views/controls could have been explained.

By Daniel Cutler on 5/9/2020

Since the course required prior knowledge on Swift, I was surprised that most of it so far has been repetition for me, but I did pick up some useful things I didn't know.

While I learned a few tricks, for the most part this course is very bad at showing you how to write code in a clean programmatic way. I'm not a beginner in coding, so I was able to learn some useful things from the course, but there are so many bad practices that it becomes painful to watch, especially towards the end.

It was an excellent course; the instructor has a lot of programming experience so what he teaches is pragmatic just as one would build an app for the App Store. A lot of information was shared, including a nice Firestore tutorial for the WhatsApp clone app. I would say it is not a course for complete beginners as the information flow is large and the trainee is expected to have some knowledge on the subject, especially for the lectures near the end. From the 3 course I have bought on UDEMY, this one was the most comprehensive and best value. As I bonus, the instructor could add a couple of lectures on how to maximise the declarative nature of the language by focusing on an app that is also well designed, to highlight how easy it is to build a pretty, User friendly app.

It's certainly a good intro course but it seems to fall a bit short of being "complete" per my understanding. If you're looking to get started with SwiftUI, this course if for you. However, if you're looking for information on how to convert IOS12 code, then it might fall a bit short. For example, since scrollable CollectionViews were the dominant theme of IOS11 and 12, outpacing Tableviews, one has to wonder why such ubiquitous IOS11/12 features are not taught in these courses. No, you cannot substitute the SwiftUI-equivalent of TableView (List) for the coveted UICollectionView, since you cannot separate the tableview into horizontal groups (a la collection views), decomposed into additional layering (a la table views). I can see from internet searches that others are searching for similar cross-over functionality; some have opted to write their own grid-system. Having said that, it was a good introduction to the basics of SwiftUI. The instructor knows his stuff and the pace is good.

Hi and thanks for hearing back from you. It really was my mistake. The rating was suppose to be 4.5. I really can't give the perfect five and the reason for that is really slow talking pace. I understand that most people need/want this, but it really bothers me. I hope you understand. Otherwise great tutorial so far.

By Tim Roberston on 8/8/2019

Fortunately, I have already walked through a couple of SwiftUI Intro videos from WWDC2019 to understand where we're going. My goal is to get a complete understanding of the new paradigm of SwiftUI and glean some best practices. It was good to start out slowly go through how the controls of XCode which have changed using the Single View App Template.

By Dave McKee on 7/28/2019

Once Apple completes more than what Xcode beta 4 supports, I would like to see 2 topics covered: 1) how to handle/code segue like transitions between different views 2) how to use navigationbaritems to achieve (1)
