Course Description
This complete course is designed to educate and transform you into a job-ready, employable web developer. You'll learn by building real applications with features found in sites like Facebook, Hulu, and Dropbox.
You'll also build and launch a real startup that you can customize for your own business idea or online store. This course includes a downloadable ebook that details the steps to get hired as a freelancer or full-time web developer.
By the end of this course, you'll have learned HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Ruby on Rails, e-commerce and more. You'll have built and launched a startup from scratch and your own portfolio of sites to share with employers and get hired.
Why learn Rails? It's one of the highest paying programmer job titles out there with an average salary of over $100,000 in many cities and an entry level salary of approximately $77,000. It's easy to learn with the right instructor and the job market is excellent because there are simply not enough developers right now. The included ebook will show you exactly where to find the best, flexible jobs and how to do well with the interviews.
How does the course work?
Duration: Over 175 lectures and 22+ hours of videos and over 30 hours of exercises. The course is designed to also point you to a curated set of even more advanced topics to continue your learning and fill out your knowledge.
Learn: HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Ruby, Rails, Git, E-Commerce with Stripe, Servers, Heroku, Bootstrap, Databases, and more.
Build: You'll create your own portfolio of 14 sites (from the exercises) and you build and launch a startup that can sign users up and earn money by charging for premium memberships. You'll be able to customize this to launch your own business, online store, or startup and earn money around the clock.
Get Hired: The included ebook walks you through everything you need to find jobs, do well in the interviews, and get hired and paid entry level or more.
Take this course if you want an amazing, flexible job and lifestyle. Half-day Fridays, free food and beer, working from home are all common perks for Ruby on Rails web developers. And, if you have great startup ideas, this course will show you how to build them.
I tried so many courses, books, and tutorials when I was learning, but I was disappointed with what I found. That's why I made this course - so that you have one place to learn everything you need to become job-ready. Join me inside!

DO NOT PAY FOR THE COURSE: It's avail here for FREE - http://upskillcourses.com (But you might get spammed though) ============================================================= Got stuck on a lesson, email the instructor and TA a few times, ask so many other students ... in fact multiple students got stuck at the same place... none of us had any idea how to fix it... I redid the chunk of lesson (about 6 tutorials) 3x... then gave up... No support! it's a huge waste of time ... took me 4 weeks to get 75% of the entire course done... took me 5 weeks to try and get past that one spot...all these good reviews are probably people who just started the course... it starts off really great but you hit the harder materials (the stuff you can't google for free online) the quality goes downhill real fast...

IN A FEW WORDS: If you are very determined to learn and have a LOT of patience (to get through confusing videos with a sleepy narator, that you will probably have to watch multiple times to fully understand), then this course will teach you things, but you can find cheaper (or even free) courses, that are WAY better. IN A LOT OF WORDS: I got this course in a sale (I think $10) and that was good for the price. While the content in this course will eventually teach you things, I cannot rate it any higher, because of these reasons: 1) Instructor's voice: By far the most annoying thing. It made me so sleepy and feel like he is so bored of what he is saying that sometimes I stopped the videos and did something else. He speaks so slow I had to watch the videos in 2x speed. 2) Lack of explanations: For the biggest part of the course I was in the dark about what I was typing and why. The instructor tries to explain things, but fails to make you pay attention to major information, that will guide you down the line. He just says to keep that in mind and that we will explain something or dive deeper into it down the line, but when you actually get there, you don't remember where you did this before or why. It would be much better to first spend some time explaining things and THEN go put them into practice. 3) Content flow: The flow of the resources provided is backwards... First you follow through with the instructor's confusing train of thought and in the end there is a link to codecademy courses which are waaaaay better in terms of provided information and flow. I realised that doing these courses first and THEN watching the videos of the section, made me understand the content way better. The external resources from codecademy made the videos from that course seem so lacking, that it's funny people pay so much for the course. The instructor also often trails off to explain something minor, but takes 5-6 minutes to get back in course, which was highly annoying. I wish he spent as much time to explain actually useful and important concepts.

You are not majoring in computer science and try to learn web development skills? Complete this course first, and then deep dive in any further courses such as Javascript, node.js, or even iOS app development. This will give you such a full-milestoned picture of whole development process, how the front and server side communicate together, how each UI is built and working properly. However, this course does not dig in out more about each concept because it is just a bootcamp course. If you expect to have something advanced class that makes you more expert, this is not your course. If you are a first-starter and want to know the whole picture, and then want to learn more deep level on each concept, this is the best course for you.

I really loved the course and would have given it a five star rating. The reason why I won't give it a five star rating is because after the ruby on rails section, there's too much self learning on the javascript part. I am not saying that self learning is a bad thing, its just that I thought the instructor would walk us through the javascript track instead of giving us links to reference materials. I think if he had handled javascript and javascript frameworks the way he did with ruby and the rails framework, then this would have been the best course on udemy. Anyway I loved the course but still I stick to my four star rating

My only complaint would be that I'm too lazy to read books or I would have done that instead. I want to watch videos. Since I have to look stuff up and read while I'm learning all the stuff you can't teach me, I suppose I should just get over it! The instruction is great! The only recommendation I have would be how to troubleshoot misbehaving gems in the Ruby on Rails tutorials. It's a great program, but there is always something that goes wrong. Because of that, you have to READ... all the documentation, go through StackOverflow (which can be a mistake sometimes), go through all the forums to make sure it hasn't already been solved and basically work with alternatives until you get it right. In the process of all of this, you will learn a LOT!! There is so much information in this course (without the above-mentioned research) that going through it in 12 weeks is tough. But, this course sets you up for success. You are not going to be disappointed!

One of the best course I have taken with Udemy and I have taken a lot. It is also complete, not like the other courses I have bought or gotten free. The instructor speaks very clearly and makes sure you are following him step by step. He will pause and tell you which line he is on, so students will not be lost. Also, he will scroll up and down on his screen slowly, which helped me through the course. In contrast to other instructors, he tells you where he is clicking and placing the code in very detail manner. Other instructors will just place the code in and scroll away leaving student placing the code in the wrong area. More importantly, he will explain why he did it and how the code works as the students get deeper into the lessons. He will show you other resources to continue to grow as a developer. He truly cares about his students successfulness unlike other Udemy so call self proclaim instructors. It seem like other instructors that I have taken are creating multiple courses just to make money. However, Robeen Dey really wants each student to grow as a developer. Thank you so much putting this course together. If you do decide to put another course together,I will definitely take it. Maybe you can make a course on debugging. A great web developer should know how to debug and find a solution. Even the answers are online, if the student or web developer does not know how to word the question or send the code over. The answer can not be found....maybe get all the best questions from students or common mistakes... just a suggestion.

This is a great course especially the Ruby on Rails Dev Match project part! I've learned a ton from this course and the instructor is very attentive and will give you quick feedback if you have a question (extremely valuable)! Will look forward to what this instructor puts out next. Some constructive criticism for the instructor IMHO: at least for me I tend to watch a lot of the lectures right in a row, so it can be a little redundant if you don't pick up where you left off and have to cd back into your workspace/project everytime. I can understand this for the first few lectures of course for people who don't quite have the hang of it yet though. The other thing I would do is scrap that intro to every lecture, its a little annoying. Just a few little suggestions to make the pace of the course a little faster. Other than that I loved it, thank you! Quick note too, I would LOVE to see a lecture added on how to integrate AWS to host the paperclip images. I am having a VERY hard time with it and actually ended up having to scrap the whole project and start over because I messed everything up so bad trying to integrate AWS.

I love how Robeen just got right into teaching of coding and developing. - He has very unique teaching skills. Rob is easy to understand and gets straight to the point. For a while I had been trying to understand Ruby on Rails(as well as HTML, CSS,BOOTSTRAP,JAVASCRIPT, JQUERY) and I did so many courses, which talk about the basics as well as advanced features. But none of them gives a Total picture on how to customize the web app close to the real world. With other courses you can gain knowledge on what is Ruby on Rails and why is it used but the knowledge on how to assemble the bits and pieces to make your own application, is what I have learned from here. I had access to amazing skills, but I did not know how to put all the pieces together. Long story short, this course educates and transforms you into a job-ready, employable web developer. Thanks Robeen, you are the really Best of the Best. Looking forward to more courses from you.

I appreciated Rob's demeanor and professional delivery across each lecture. Rob also seems very responsive and happy to help anyone having trouble, or answer a Rails-related question. I signed up for this course already having a solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and already having completed all the assigned Codecademy courses but the one for Rails. I'm thankful for all I've learned so far about RoR. I've actually used Ruby for several years as an automation developer, but I'm pursuing a career in web development, and Rails recently occurred to me as a logical path to take. I also know some PHP/WordPress, but it's not as common for a developer to make a full-time living on that platform. Having finished this program, I'm not in a position yet to dive right into full-time employment using this technology and framework, but Rob definitely has me going in the right direction. Now if I could just think of an idea for a web application of my own...

First person to finish this course, had 1 consultation with Rob on Skype since then heard nothing so much for helping students find work Rob. Please don't bother contacting me after you read my review update im not interested. I have seen other courses on the ruby on rails subject but have to say what Rob has prepared in this course blow's everything else away. The patience he shows in explaining each individual parts that makes the applications work is amazing, his instruction is clear and his voice is easy on the ears which has been a big let-down in other courses I have followed not being able to understand what the tutor is saying. 175 lectures is not for the faint hearted, but nothing in life is easy if you want to be successful. So I have no problem recommending this course to anyone don’t waste your money elsewhere jump on board with Rob as I believe he is the best tutor I have seen on Udemy and this guy definitely knows what he’s talking about. If you’d like to speak with me about my honest review or are still undecided about jumping on board this course please don’t hesitate to contact me directly through Udemy, and just for the record this is the first course I have followed of Rob’s and have never met him.
