Our take
Based on the ratings of 34,611 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in January 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a two-hour primer, not a hands-on class. Anand Rao Nednur walks through DevOps practices, the history, the roles, continuous integration and delivery, and where AWS and Azure fit in. It is 21 lectures in a single section, plus one quiz. The description is upfront that it is a handbook: you learn which tools belong to which phase, but nobody demonstrates them. It suits people who hear Jenkins, Terraform or IaC in meetings and want the vocabulary.
Students like it for exactly that. Reviewers call the explanations clear, the pace good and the course a quick start for a beginner, and one says it made a difference in their job role. Two others liked the animations and the role play option. The complaints are consistent too. Lower-star reviewers call it slow, basic and dull, and want hands-on assignments. One found the AI-generated podcast section a jarring break from the slides, another disliked the accent, and one spotted typos in the text.
With about 94,000 students and a 4.5 rating across more than 34,000 reviews, nearly nine in ten of them four or five stars, it clearly does its job for beginners. It was last updated in January 2026, which is recent for a course built on concepts. Experienced reviewers say it was not a good match for them, so treat it as orientation, then move to a hands-on course on the tools themselves for the actual skills. It is paid, short, and honest about its limits.
Pros
- Explains DevOps terms, roles and history in plain steps that reviewers call clear
- Only two hours across 21 lectures, short enough to finish in an evening or two
- Shows how DevOps ties into AWS and Azure and which tools fit each phase
- Refreshed in January 2026, with animations and a role play exercise reviewers liked
Cons
- No tool demos or labs, so reviewers who wanted hands-on assignments came away wanting more
- Slow and basic for anyone already working in DevOps, according to the 3-star reviews
- Lecture-style delivery felt dull to some, and one reviewer found the AI podcast section jarring
Really a good start for a beginner who need to understand quickly on what DevOps is
Beginner is accurate: it only asks for basic IT knowledge and assumes no DevOps or cloud background.
