Course Description

Unlock the Power of APIs with Python and FastAPI!

Ready to transform your Python skills into building blazing-fast, production-ready APIs? This hands-on course is your definitive guide to crafting high-performance APIs using FastAPI and Python.

Go beyond theory and build a complete backend API for a real-world Delivery Management System. You'll master essential backend concepts like the request/response cycle, data modeling, databases, asynchronous programming, and dependency injection – all while leveraging the power of FastAPI's built-in features: asynchronous speed, automatic data validation, OpenAPI support, and exceptional developer productivity.

Python

Even though having a basic understanding of python is required, core language concepts like type hinting, decorator functions, context managers, async programming and others will still be covered.

SQL Database

We will cover databases and SQL from the basics. Especially if you're a beginner, we will first learn the need for structured databases, what SQL is, how to define tables and write SQL queries.

Then we will integrate a SQLite database manually with our FastAPI application and then leverage modern tools like SQLModel to define database table schema and FastAPI's powerful dependency injection to provide database session to API endpoints.

After covering the essentials, we will move onto advanced concepts like asynchronous database (PostgreSQL), manage schema changes with alembic migrations, define one-to-many and many-to-many SQL relationships and link models.

User Authentication

FastAPI has built-in support for OAuth2 Scheme. Implement secure user authentication with OAuth2 Password Flow and handle user signups, email verification of registered users, login, control access to endpoints with JWT, allow password resets and logout users.

Email and SMS Notifications

In our delivery management system, we will send email updates and sms to recipients on shipment updates. Like sending tracking links with email on order placed, shipment status updates, and sending verification codes or OTP as sms to recieve shipments.

API Testing

Learn the basics of the pytest - testing framework. Write and run simple tests, and use fixtures to manage test state. Then, write test for API endpoints with FastAPI's built-in test client.

We will cover required concepts when testing APIs like setting up test databases, overriding dependencies, authentication in test functions and automate testing with schemathesis.

Frontend?

As a bonus, we will also cover frontend web development with React JS. Covering the essentials like components, state management, hooks, context providers and routing. Using modern and meme proof tools like Vite, Axios, React Router, Shadcn UI, and Tanstack React Query.

Docker

Learn the industry standard tool for packaging applications. We will cover the basics of docker and the essential concepts of containerisation. And run our API Server, PostgreSQL database, Redis and Celery background worker seamlessly with Docker Compose.

If you're a Python developer looking to create fast, reliable, and modern web APIs, and if you're eager to understand and build the backend yourself, then this course is your perfect starting point.

Excellent course!! - Good use of animations to explain complex concepts. - Excellent coverage, it gives you the knowledge needed to build your own production/portfolio quality APIs with FastAPI. - I wish the instructor posted the code as it stands at the end of each section. - Instructor presents the material in a fun and engaging manner.

Hi, I really enjoyed the course and found it very clear and practical. It gave me a solid understanding of FastAPI, Docker basics, and the overall backend workflow. Thank you for putting this together. One suggestion that could make the course even stronger: it would be great to include a short section showing how these concepts translate into a more production-style architecture. For example, demonstrating how to split services, handle traffic, structure endpoints for real workloads, and explain when tools like Celery/Redis are truly needed versus when simpler approaches are enough. I understand course length is always a constraint, but even a brief “production architecture overview” module would help learners connect the dots between the learning project and real-world deployment. Overall, great course and very helpful. Thank you again!

sudah cukup bagus memadai , mohon sekirany setiap video dibikin default untuk subtitle english sehingga orang yang belum terbiasa berbahasa english lebih mudah mencerna maksud konten

The course is very strong in both structure and content. It follows a logical progression, offers helpful short videos that break down key concepts, and includes a real project with practical examples and knowledge that’s genuinely useful in real-world work—not just another typical beginner “to-do” app. It also feels noticeably more up to date than any other course on the platform, which is a big plus. That said, in some sections where technical nuances matter, I would have liked the spoken explanations to be deeper and clearer. At times, the instructor’s accent and speaking pace make it harder to catch the details.

Overall, a really solid course. Coming from a JS background, I learned many valuable best practices. The only downside is that some sections felt unnecessarily long — the course could easily be 5 hours shorter, and the parts where everything is written out at once (routes, etc.) could be more concise.

Too much unnecessary stuff and poor study plan for example, you can learn alembic with postresql, as you are going to use it together anyway. also, not the best realization of dependency injection, you may use context manager and return async generation very easily. React is total disappointment, I actually expected to learn React here, but as he mentioned, it is worth another course and brow, why did u include it here if u aint gonna teach us React. Update: decent reply from instructor made me feel better

A nice course indeed, but would be much better if the instructor mentions or shows what he has changed in codebase along in video. It is kinda annoying when you did not catch up and it is fracturing for beginners who dun know how to track errors. But the instructor's attention to coding standards is commendable and sets this course apart from others. Overall, nice nice nice...

Definitely the best FastAPI course I've ever taken. The video editing is incredible, the pace of the videos is truly spectacular, and the topics are really easy to learn step by step. From the very first sections, there are several things you can already apply to your own projects. It's definitely worth every penny of your investment. The voiceover is very friendly, showing you graphics and images that make some concepts easy to digest. So this course exceeded my expectations. It doesn't go into much detail on the front end, but it uses React Router Framework with TS, so you're using modern technologies and TS, which is in high demand in the market. If there's one thing that could be improved, it would be to leave the source code for each section or some repo. Sometimes, when I finished a module, the file was a little different from the video for the new module. It wasn't a big deal, but it did give me a bad experience, though nothing that would prevent me from continuing. I hope they can continue to add some other things. It would be AMAZING.

i am a beginner, and this course really saved me from backend nightmares the instructor explains things like he's talking to his friend — which helps a lot! i learned how to fix my errors (instead of just panicking) and many small things that actually makes a good dev. Message to Instructor – Dear Rahul Mula, you have done a great job at recording and editing (i assume, unless there’s a secret Rahul 2.0) this is honestly one of the good course in udemy to get started and learn about backend dev also, small pov – for ppl like me who just wanna rush into fastapi and not send emails to anyone (not even my ex ), maybe you can say at start of those optional parts like “yo, skip to react part if you’re in a hurry to see your api talk to frontend”. just an idea

First of all, thank you Rahul for creating this amazing course. I wanted to give the course a 4-star rating, but let’s talk about the course in detail: Till date, the course is up to date, and that alone earns it one star instantly. (Please ensure this remains true in the future.) The course is well-structured and covers extra but important topics like Redis, Celery, and Docker. The instructor (Rahul) has a deep understanding of the concepts and has explained everything with the best of his efforts, which I really appreciated. Sir, please add a section where we deploy everything on a VPS and on AWS, this will help a lot, because there is no proper material available anywhere. Now, let’s come to the cons: I'm speaking from my own experience: I have worked for 1 year with Django and 2 years with Flask, so many of the concepts were familiar and easy to grasp. The course has only one project. While one project is good, I feel that beginners need at least 4 to 5 small projects. I’m not talking about full end-to-end applications, but mini-projects. Repeating steps while learning creates muscle memory and builds a strong foundation. Plus, learners can share these projects on LinkedIn to gain visibility. I feel some parts were rushed. The separation of routes, services, and dependencies made things a bit complicated. If we had done 2 projects with everything combined first, and then moved to the modular structure, it would’ve been great. (Till now, I haven’t seen such heavy deduction or separation, usually schema, DB, routes are enough; maybe utils if something is complex or repetitive, just my opinion.) This course is not for absolute beginners, so please get your basics about backend and Python cleared beforehand. So according to me: If you already have good knowledge and can grasp things quickly, this course is for you. 1. If you’re switching from Flask or Django, this course is a great fit. 2. If you're planning to explore and build projects right after the course, then it’s for you. 3. If you think you can just watch and be done — then sorry, but you’re an idiot Lol I watched the entire course on 1.5x and 2x speed, so I can’t say much there.
