Course Description
As a designer, no matter whether you’re working on UX or UI, you should always aim to design for the highest possible usability. It is something that all of your clients or team members will expect from every interface you design. A usable interface is easy to use, intuitive and does not require the users to think too much when using them. Knowledge of basic ergonomics and cognitive psychology is something that every designer should master and this course will help you start that journey, through learning:
What usability means in digital interfaces
The basics of cognitive psychology
Why understanding your users is crucial for your interface’s success
Why it’s important to avoid errors and overloading your users
The basic aspects of usable navigation, search, form or animation
How to check if what you designed is usable
Principles of usability
Learn what are the core components and principles of usability, through reviewing numerous real-life examples I prepared for you. Understanding these rules of thumb devised by the pioneers of the industry will help you analyse interfaces and look for aspects that could be refined to achieve a better usability. It will be a great starting point for learning about all aspects of usability.
The building blocks of interfaces
There are certain ground rules of usability in digital interface design and it’s important to understand what makes in interface simple and focused, as well as how to make basic decisions to avoid distressing your users. We will cover best practice in usability for common elements such as navigation, search, microcopy, forms or errors.
Validating the usability of your solutions
Creating an interface that seems usable to yourself is relatively easy. Problems often appear when other people try to understand it or when you “let it soak” for a couple of days and review it from the perspective of usability. Over a couple of lessons we will also explore how to validate interfaces for usability with the use of expert reviews, usability testing and analytics.

UX Design is my true passion and I am very fortunate to have found it so early in life. I enjoy working on projects case by case, investigating and then searching for solutions. Through my skills in user research, UX architecture and designing highly usable interfaces, I have helped many companies build real business value through good design. ‘Empathy’ and ‘user-centered design’ are the terms that make me tick above anything else! I also love sharing my knowledge with the industry through giving conference talks, conducting training sessions and webinars, creating online courses and hosting my own podcast - UXED PL (only in Polish for now).

This course is amazing for newbie designers. The information is well-structured, and the examples make the concepts clearer. I believe this course will remain relevant even in the coming years because Michał focuses on the fundamentals of good design. Good design is not just about creating "beautiful pictures" but about delivering usable and clear interfaces.

The ISO definition of Usability is "extent to which a system, product or service can be used by specified users to achieve specified goals with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in a specified context of use". The distinction between 'users' and 'customers' is important because the users are not always the customers; particularly when designing products for large organisations. Overall the course was very well presented and clear; the presenter seems very knowledgeable about a wide range of topics. I felt this could be split into a number of courses on each topic to cover them more deeply and look at them in contexts of different types of products. Some would benefit from more examples and practical exercises. It felt like a very fast skim through a lot of different topics. Useful as a refresher to identify further learning.

The course is very interesting and covers a wide range of material. While I was already familiar with most topics, the instructor delved deeper, provided examples, and maintained a good balance between text and visuals, significantly improving my understanding and knowledge. I must admit that I watched it at 1.5x speed.

I learned a lot - gave me a lot to think about and evaluate for future design. Some of the parts was too long to comprehend without stopping the video and taking in things. I would have appreciated that some to the material also be supplied as extra resources.

Up to now (1st and 2nd absolved) sometimes problems with audio, & can't find materials shown in the lesson - these problems occurred with using my company's citrix-session. Using the course directly from my computer at home showed no problems.

The first three sections are well presented with interesting examples of designs that do work—that said, there should be more examples of designs that do NOT work. The two last sections feel a bit rushed. Since the whole course is rather theoretical, more obvious examples or examples of tools being used rather than just be presented would be interesting. Essentially, after completing the course, I feel a bit more confident in designing but not in validating. The tutor has a good pace and presents the content well.

This course exceeded my expectations. I've been touching on the topic of UX recently and this course made me understand its basics in a concise manner. I like how the instructor gave clear definitions and examples. Such a very good course for beginners like me!

It's like this course was made for me. If you're branching into a more tech side of design, this is a great overview of UX design. Concise, well structured, and covers a lot of material. Michal is a great host, and I really like that they took the time to setup a proper studio setup (shows that they really cared). Highly recommended.

This is a great learning course. As a Product Manager, I learned a lot about UX design and areas that we need to focus on when building a new UI. The downside of this course is that we cannot download the presentation slides. Can you please provide those presentation slides for our future reference?

This course was a great overview of the fundamental principles and guidelines of user experience. All the theoretical content was explained with clear and relevant examples, which I found incredibly helpful. I also really enjoyed that the design and styling of the videos themselves was so professional and aesthetic.
