Web Design for Beginners: Real World Coding in HTML & CSS (Udemy.com)

I'm a beginner, and I experienced this course as a great introduction and great exposure to HTML and CSS. I had to go through the course without taking a lot of time to practice coding in Code Pen. So for me, I would need a more thorough A to Z course on HTML and CSS that progressively builds skills so that I don't have any holes in knowledge or skills. The best outcome for me is that I'm more comfortable now working on pages on my WordPress website that may need additional CSS code, and I'm no longer afraid of it or tinkering with it and ruining my website. You are a very good teacher, Brad, and I would take another course with you. Thank you.

The course started strong and was easy to follow, especially in sections that included setup files so I could code alongside the instructor. I initially worked in Visual Studio Code and later realized that some lessons also provided follow-along CodePen links, which made the process much smoother. However, many of the more advanced sections only included completed files, which made it harder to actively follow along. I wish all of the sections had the follow-along files available, as I learn best by doing rather than watching/listening.

I have started this website learning journey part time during the covid pandemic of 2020 (I was a print type of graphic designer for many successful years before that, I'm 55 now) and I like to say this guy is awesome. I found this course recently and I am going through it now (Oct 2025) He teaches you in a fun and simple way everything you need to know about web design and I thank him so much for this! I did have a good understanding of web design and coding using VSC but thanks to this course, I am even better today as my knowledge will grow for sure. Thank you again!

This is a very nice course about HTML and CSS. The course creator is very knowledgeable on the topics that he teaches, the pace is great and I also liked the fact that he shows many real world tips and tricks and why we do things a certain way instead of just showcasing how to use these technologies. However, I would like to see one or two real world projects being developed to showcase HTML/CSS in action. Because of the absence of a real world example I felt that this course was a little dry from a point on (the CSS section in particular).

when u decide to become a web developer and start searching for online courses, u will find yourself being lost with abundance of options and not knowing which one to choose. I am consider myself lucky that i chose this course by Brad because the way of his teaching and explaining of the materials is most simple and thorough, also he shares his real life experience insights during the course!

This course has helped me learn the basics , even though this is review that I am giving halfway through the course. Basics of html5 and CSS3 - markup and styling. Connecting certain parts of the course to the previous lessons were a bit difficult, because in some of the lessons, it was prewritten and modified. Even though the prewritten codes are the examples of the previous lesson, the changes made to the code should have been explained like for this page - we are using this template - the slight changes made to the code are these and these are the changes that we are about to make in this lesson, like a bit of spoon feeding is required for total beginners I suggest. Also, I would suggest a bit more elaboration on real life project codes , even if they are complex , can be explained with key concepts, the very basics and from scratch to help people get into the job market or improve their skills and knowledge a bit more and make it full fledged.

I have never used HTML before, so I have found this course absolutely brilliant it easies the beginner in to HTML in easy to understand language. Everything technical is really well explained. I would highly recommend this course to beginners. Now that I've reached the end of this course I realise that there is much more to building a webpage, this course is very informative and easy to understand.

Lovely start to learning html and css. There was a lot to take in but no one can do it better than Brad. He went into details and made you understand each step he makes. All I need to do now is practice more and hopefully move to javascript. Before I started this course I knew nothing about this field of study(not even opening and closing tags). Thank you Brad.

The instructions, and visuals to go with them, are so clear you can't go wrong. Half way through 'Web Design for Beginners' and the learning curve is getting steeper but suspect that more and more repetition will help. Since my first review I have now completed that course and Brad's 'Git a Web Developer Job' and his 'Learn Javascript: Full-Stack' courses which are also excellent. He also updates some of the lectures when new developments make old ways redundant which is a really important feature. I still revisit all his courses to remind me of things I have forgotten and that in itself just reinforces my understanding of the fundamentals. I have done other courses with different tutors but none come close to Brad's exemplary teaching and his explanations why you should do things the way he suggests.

I've given these tutorials a five-star rating because they are simply the best and most professional I've come across. I've written HTML code before, but my wife hasn't. Nor has she ever wanted to. However, she's watched a couple of these tutorials and is now enthusiastic to have a go herself. Well done! If I were able, I would add a further 5 stars to my present five. I now have two HTML & CSS gurus: Jennifer Niederst and Brad Schiff!
