Course Description

Understanding Docker and using it for the Selenium automation course is designed in such a way that anyone with zero knowledge of docker and its related concepts can get up to the speed easily without much effort.

This course is divided into the following sections, to make learning more streamlined and easier

1. Understanding the ABC of Docker

  • · Basic commands

  • · Working with Multiple Docker containers

  • · Understanding simple examples with WordPress and MySQL

  • · Understanding Docker file

  • · Understanding Docker compose file

2. Running Selenium Test with Containerized Selenium Grid and Application

  • · Writing Selenium C# test

  • · Writing Selenium test with Dynamic Selenium grid

  • · Writing Driver Fixture and how to handle problems accessing the application

  • · Parallel Selenium test execution

  • · Parallel Selenium test with Multiple browsers

3. Selenium Tests project to run as a Container

All these three sections are intrinsic, meaning they are interdependent on each other and hence sometimes students may need to go back and forth to get into some related concepts.

The first section helps you understand the basics of Docker and get up to the speed of dealing with Docker and its related commands, whereas in the second and third sections we are going to automate a 3-tier application with Selenium C#.

We will be using the industry-standard way to use automate an application with Selenium and run a dockerized Selenium docker container along with the Application using docker-compose

it is very good. It has all I need as a automation QA to get Docker into my framework. The only issue is instructor's Power shell. It has existing images and running containers so when looking at it for the first time I am getting confused about what should be on my terminal. Instructor should try to make sure: 1. His power shell terminal is clean and as close as it can be to the students. 2. Instructor should try to have videos for Mac OS installations. currently there is only for windows

The course content is good to know the basics .It can be a bit elaborate with respect to executing grid using Dockers without using the link option because as per the official github page, the option works only if both hub and node runs on the same machine and is not suggested in the longer run.Integrating Dockers in Jenkins pipeline can also be added.

The explaination and content is Ok.There were some improvements to get complete picture to a beginner. 1. The code or practices like docker-compose.ymls are to be attached in the same course. 2. While explaining wordpress and mysql connect, there should be come code/explanation on error handling scenarios like "Error Establishing a database connection with wordpress" will be faced if sql and wordpress are not linked properly or any credentials mismatch. 3. Setup of selenium grid is v good but if you explain more on how to change the required properties like java version, chrome version in the corresponding nodes would be a better one.

I like that the instructor tries to explain WHY he is doing each step. Wordpress example doesn't work, it is possible it worked in the past when video is created but it doesn't work these days (WP cannot connect to DB, is some parameter missing?). The last two lectures refer to videos from other course (or YouTube?).

Very good content, Compaq approach to understand and performed practical to implement selenium grid with docker and easy to understand. Hoping for more free video content with some more interesting topics on docker with selenium. Please upload more videos on how to execute it on no. of test cases on multiple machines with same browsers just to save time for Sanity suite execution in very less amount of time if distributed on several machines.

Clear step by step explanations of why code is written in a certain way. Enjoyed following along. The only issue I had was with the Wordpress/MySQL setup example - I think it's outdated. I had trouble setting this up even with Docker Compose so I ended up skipping it and continuing the rest of the videos.

Excellent course. Very well explained. In the Docker-compose example, if you had installed MySQL first and then wordpress, you might not have got the error at first time. You got the error as Wordpress was up and was trying to connect to MySQL which was under installation at that moment. Excellent tutorial. Thanks.

The teacher, as in his course ‘Cucumber with Selenium Java (Basic)’, talks quickly and to the point, but can be understood by non-native English speakers. The first section is a nice introduction to Docker and how to use it with Selenium. However, after this section, I started to get confused. It looks like there is a gap between sections 1 and 2, as the second part starts talking about Docker Compose, which is not explained before. Sections 3 and 4 are fine, but in the fifth section, the teacher starts to use Bash scripts, and it is really hard for me to follow. Also, the section ends in a strange way, with a lot of errors after every execution. I have learned from this course, but I have really mixed feelings. I think there could be greater cohesion between the different sections of the course.

This course is very helpful. Instructor talks so directly to each topic. But he need to response some questions from audiences as well. Generally, if you need to get knowledge about Docker and Selenium integration, I think that this course is 1st choice. Thanks in advance. I hope you will have more useful courses in next time.

It's a very good cold start for beginners, so thanks a lot for offering this for free. There's very little self-promotion only compared to other free courses! I've only given 4.5 because sometimes things happen too fast and it can only be regarded as a first starting point and a base for a more comprehensive course.
