Course Description
This course will teach you the fundamentals of the C++ programming language, with a focus on Modern C++ features and the efficient use of tools. Start with the fundamentals and work your way up to advanced C++11 concepts and OOP mastery!
This course is presented as a combination of slide-based theory material and screencasts showing the IDE and the author writing programs and running them in the terminal.
Here are some of the things we are going to cover in the course:
C++ ecosystem: compilers, Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) and other tools
The compilation process (how C++ source files are compiled and linked)
Data types: numeric (integers, floating-point), strings, arrays, vectors, etc.
Control flow constructs (if, switch, while, etc.)
Memory management (stack and heap allocation, deletion, smart pointers)
User-defined types (how to define your own classes and class members)
Object-oriented programming (polymorphism, inheritance, encapsulation)
Why take this course? Glad you asked. This course is...
Fast-paced, yet feature-complete — covers all core feature of the language
Covers only modern C++ (C++11, 14, 17 and 20)... there is very little 'legacy' C/C++ covered in the course!
Opinionated towards best practices using latest versions of the language
Additional content – driven by you!

As always, his coverage of newer tech is wonderful. I needed a quick refresher, as the C++98 style I was used to is a bit dusty and worn in the corners..

Yes because I wanted a modern refresher course and something I can go back to check at any time. For a beginner though, it is too fast and not enough in depth. it would be better if there were more code samples, preferably downloadable.

I'm intertwining it with "C++ for Blockchain Developers" at Ivan On Tech Academy. This course is a good wall to lean specialized C++ courses on. Also a good review and update to "modern" features.

As a software engineer already this course was idea for me coming from a non C++ background it has allowed me to pick up the basics of the language pretty quickly. I enjoyed the teaching style of the instructor, the videos are short and to the point. There are a few reasons I cannot give this course 5 stars: - Some of the examples used features which had not yet been explained. - I feel like there could be another section to cover topics such as templates which has been used in some of the examples. - As OOP is important for today's software I thought this section could have gone into a little more little. No mention of static member's or interfaces. I still really enjoyed this course, and have gone on to purchase another course from this instructor.

It was decent explanation. It was too basic but if the audience is absolute starter, it is missing examples. If the audience is a seasoned programmer, this is way too basic. I think it'd be good to add a few real-world examples.

I have several of Dimitri's courses and this is an excellent introduction to C++. I have been meaning to learn C++ as I would like to work in game engineering and that more than C# is the go-to language of the industry. Dimitri's classes are all excellent and I hope he continues to make more as he is a Udemy instructor who is both highly intelligent and highly effective as a teacher. Some will not like how quickly he moves and how he simply instructs you as if you were intelligent, but to me that is the best part. He assumes his students are capable of doing the work and he does not compromise the material.

The course is great to get to know programming theoretically using C++ to explain concepts - which also end up being more C++ oriented, hence the name. I think this course misses practical examples. Doing small projects related what is being passed would be much more helpful to actually deepen the understanding of the subjects being passed.

I thought the course was a great refresher and definitely helped give the impulse to get back on track. It would be nice to have more simple programming exercises to really apply what you learn in each section. A tutorial on installing Cling attached to this set of lectures would be tremendously helpful.

This course is great to review the basic features of modern C++, but it does not teach you how to become a C++ developer. However, I failed to understand that "Introduction" is like "Familiarize with the concepts"... The student will require to check out other courses or read some book in order to get more in-depth explanations about each topic and how to apply it to the real world. Nontheless, the course has improved my coding style and hinted what I have to be looking for in the future.

Concise. Very good refresher coming back to c++ after programming in other languages for a while. Even learned a new trick or two.
