Course Description
This course provides students with the fundamental knowledge and skills to use Windows PowerShell for administering and automating administration of Windows systems. This course provides students the skills to identify and build the commands they require to perform specific tasks. In addition, students learn how to build scripts to accomplish advanced tasks such as automating repetitive tasks and generating reports. This course provides prerequisite skills supporting a broad range of Microsoft products, including Windows Server, Windows Client, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SharePoint Server, Microsoft SQL Server, System Center, and more. In keeping with that goal, this course will not focus on any one of those products, although Windows Server, which is the common platform for all of those products, will serve as the example for the techniques this course teaches.

In the past, I worked in a mixed environment where my preferred scripting tools were Shell and Perl. Now that I've returned to a Windows-based workplace, I needed a scripting solution to help automate tasks and reduce manual repetition. Sean's course gave me the solid foundation I needed to quickly start writing scripts, combining new material with my experience in other languages to make project execution more efficient.

It's a decent course, but not exceptional. CONs: - There's an innate assumption the the students are system admins, and are familiar with some terms and commands, or are using ActiveDirectory, and understand how it works, also that they have access to network infrastructure to make use of all ActiveDirectory commands. - Neither is System Administration, nor Power Shell basics covered, so I believe these two topics must be split. Focusing only on Power Shell, respectively using commands and modules more useful for an ordinary user. Then a second course can fully focus on system and networking administration. Using solely SysAdmin modules. I personally, won't make my PC accessible remotely in a 2-3 PC LAN network. I won't install ActiveDirectory module, so most commands used in this course I took on faith if they will work or not. - There are occasions where where the code is obstructed by the camera stream - Some topics are unclear and some contain mistakes, which tells me this course is unmaintained. - The PS Profiles are mentioned several times throughout the course and briefly explained at the end, as if users know it or should know it at the beginning. There should also be comparison between *nix terminal profiles and Power Shell profiles. After all PS profiles are based on what *nix systems do. - There's no comparison with *nix based system's shell scripts and PS shell scripts. It will be helpful - I'd love to see a few lectures on Forms instead of ActiveDirectory stuff. PROs: - the course is structured and consistent - There is a solid idea behind it, alas not good for people with little knowledge about ActiveDirectory Overall, I took some knowledge from the course: scoping, variable declaration, remoting, scripting, dictionary types (hash tables) were particularly interesting as well as loading parameters from files, formatting, regex usage. I didn't know power shell supports win forms. Even though they were only mentioned, not explained, I'll take it as a good knowledge and look for more information elsewhere.

You should be familiar with the Active Directory playground first, this won't teach you to be an admin or setup Windows Server, but this course was able to touch on most of the useful topics and it gave examples. Sometimes the examples felt a bit contrived, but for the price of a course this packed, no one should be complaining. As wide as PS is, you could always find something left out. Thanks.

Very informative and Great Course !!! The way of explained things is very useful, Approach to explaining the subject material is very clear and easy to understand. Provided useful examples that have real world use with clear speech. This is definitely a worthwhile course, I am happy that I took this course and learnt a lot. The content is structured well and instructor is very knowledgeable.

Understanding and using PowerShell to automate daily tasks as a System Administrator has given me the edge that I really needed. I'm finding some things in Server Manager, Active Directory, or in Azure AD can only be done with PowerShell or can be scripted for efficiency. For instance, I'm able to pull information and compile a daily report in minutes that would otherwise take hours to do. This course has allowed me to do just that and get up to speed fairly quickly! It's a process and a time investment that will pay huge dividends and already has! Shawn Stugart does an awesome job explaining PowerShell in this course... five stars and two thumbs up!!

This course is really well made and covering relevants topics about Administration and Automation. It is not about script but rather understanding Powershell concepts and most important command lines. What we need to know to as a Windows Admin in fact. I am not giving 5 out of 5 because I think challenges within the courses would be great (explaining a challenge and pushing the student to learn by doing (or at least trying by himself)). Great course anyway and I am looking forward the next one :)

The course is very informative, in fact - and the teacher have knowledge about the subject. But, in my opinion, into the current IT scenario we need to do more practices classes. Was used muc PDFs and images. I think the real IT its with hands on keyboard and complex projects. Resume: The teacher is good (I really would like to have him at my company, in IT area). But the course could have more practice projects. Rating 4.0

I enjoyed this course! The explanations are always clear, concise and to the point. The small videos for each 'sub-topic' are easy to digest and to remember. The course gives a comprehensive overview of Powershell. The only thing I am missing are more exercises to practice the topics, besides the demonstrations in the lectures. Overall a very well done course that delivers useful professional knowledge by a clearly very experienced teacher!

Before I say anything else, this instructor knows what he is talking about. I purchased this course thinking I would learn specific automation tasks. Instead I learned how to automate tasks. I went through maybe 30% of the course disappointed, but looked down at the amount of notes I'd taken at that point and realized I was learning a lot more than I thought I was. I got about 75% through the course and realized how often I will refer to the course to help me set up tasks and I appreciated the simple examples given. Well put together. The instruction is clear. This is a very good course.

Well, the knowledge that was poured out of the lectures was phenomenal! So many useful bits of information to incorporate in your daily aspirations of becoming super proficient in using PowerShell...and that's the secret... building PowerShell into my daily use is the only way that I'm ever going to commit the information to long term memory! This is a fantastic course, but can leave you feeling daunted with how much there is to take on board and get proficient with. Definitely a course I will have to refer back to as it's simply not possible to take it all in in one sitting!
