Loved the step by step clear explanation and that you had tasks to ensure you had learnt everything.

I really enjoyed learning various techniques on building patterns. The instructions were mostly very clear as she moved through each process, step by step. She does move a bit fast but I tend to like that style. You can always stop and re-watch parts which I did often. The one critique I have is she often mentioned something she was doing or a specific tool without stopping to explain why, or giving a bit more detail about the tool. I would have appreciated that since I am brand new to Illustrator. So I would say this class is excellent for basic pattern making concepts, and good at learning many Illustrator basics, but not great if you are looking to learn Illustrator more in-depth. Also, the instructor was quick to answer my question and I think it's cool she's willing to make a new video to address students' questions.

I've literally learned more about how to use Illustrator in the last week than I have this past year trying to teach myself; and while that self-teaching left me with a great base making it easier to jump right into this course and having a sense of the tools, panels and menu options, for the first time I can actually say I have a good grasp of Illustrator and actually feel like a designer - if you are struggling to teach yourself not only graphic design, but creating and selling digital assets then Helen's courses will be the single best investment you can make in yourself, and will pay for themselves in no time. Plus, her voice and accent are just plain lovely to listen to, if I could just get her to record guided meditations to listen to, I'd be set!

I've been following Helen for many years now on YouTube. Bought this course because I know she's an amazing teacher and she has such a flair to explain everything with clarity & simplicity. I'm not completely a new beginner with AI. I have been trying pattern making in AI & PS and Helen has made it easier for me. My journey hasn't finished and I'm convinced that the end will be a worthwhile knowledge seeking trip with Helen. Thank you Helen for being a gem of a teacher!

This course was perfect! I am a beginner and wanted to get up to speed quickly in a skill I could immediately utilize. Many courses are comprehensive, but in the end, you have a bunch of information without practical application. This course was direct, fast-paced, to the point, and practical. I especially like that each lesson is self-contained meaning the instructor explained each step for every pattern instead of relying on the student to remember a step mentioned in a previous lesson. I liked this approach a lot because now when I want to go back to a particular lesson I can just pull up the exact pattern I want to review instead of going back to the beginning to refresh myself on how to do a step that may only be found in lesson one. I have purchased the instructor's other courses and am excited to get started!! Thank you Helen for an amazing course!

The teacher does a great job of clearly explaining all the steps to making repeating patterns. And she explains the techniques in a few different ways several times so that if it was confusing the first way you heard it, you would definitely understand if you kept watching. I've been trying to learn pattern making on Illustrator for awhile now and this is the first instructor who explains how and why Illustrator is working the way it does to make the pattern which helps my comprehension immensely. Thank you!!

It's a good course for beginners or users without any pattern making experience at all. For me the focus was too much on basic patterns then the more advanced. At the end to much of repeating how to align and ... It's nice that questions of students are added in extra subjects so that anyone can learn about their questions. Since I finished this course there were 2 updates added. That's very positive! For users of older versions it's interesting to know what they can do with their version and what the newer versions can offer but for newer version users it was not relevant to know how to make a pattern in an older version.

I made gingham! And it blew my mind how easy it was too! I would have done an elaborate multi-square, color mixing mess thing. And I didn't even notice the recolor artwork button compared to the change fill color which does not work well with this technique, even before its been made into a pattern. I learned as much about ways to use illustrator successfully in all aspects as I did about the simplicity of making patterns. Also, I'm very glad I have the current edition of illustrator, but super impressed with how patterns used to have to have been created a few years ago. Its one of the things that made me shy away from creating my fabric line, because it seemed so complex. But not anymore! Thank you so much for showing me a great foundation to get started making patterns, I learned more in your few hour course than I could have learned in 6 months of trial and error on my own. And honestly, I never would have learned to do it as simply as you taught. So thank you thank you thank you!

Helen is an amazing teacher! I’ve learnt a lot from her YouTube tutorials too! Loving what I’ve seen so far from this course, easy to understand and follow along. Very excited to finish this course:) Also just purchased Helen’s other related course too:). I’m halfway through the course and absolutely loving it! Overall this is a great course - as this is new to me I had to slow the audio down otherwise it was a bit too fast and left me behind - also as progressed into the course it felt as if most of this had been produced on a CS6 version as some techniques were not fully explained in the CC version and options weren't available/didn't function the same etc which was frustrating, and typically right near the end of an exercise so didn't quite get the desired result (but very nearly!) - otherwise, lots of variety and a very good base to develop from thank you!
