An introduction to GIS and QGIS 3 (Udemy.com)

I had attempted to learn GIS in the past, and it felt like I was being taught in a language entirely different from my own. I told myself GIS probably has its own language I have to learn first, but with this training, I am so confident that I understand what QGIS is and can do some exercises on my own. I previously attempted to learn GIS, and it felt like I was being taught in a completely different language. I then assumed that GIS has its own terminology that I needed to master. However, after completing this training, I am now confident in my understanding of QGIS and feel fully equipped to tackle exercises independently. Thank you!Thank you

I really loved that the course was focused on getting more familiar with the interface, and the quizes which got trickier towards the end were quite stimulating! As an Archaeology student, it means a lot to me that I can work with map-making with relative ease. It's only the beginning, but I look forward to maps that are relevant to my areas of study. This is an excellent course, which introduces QGIS in an easily digestible way by using a fun project involving volcanoes in central America. -A really good way of getting started in GIS and inspires you to want to learn more. Oliver is a great tutor! - I'm also currently on his brilliant 10 weeks oxford uni short course in QGIS, mapping and spatial data.

The course was pretty basic - would like more advanced material dealing with GIS data usage and analysis. The Udemy player is buggy on Mac OS so I was forced to use mobile on iPad, which works but reduces screen size and also puts tutorial on a different device then where I’m running the app - please fix your desktop Mac browser platform or provide a Mac desktop app.

This is a well-taught course. which gives a good basic understanding of how to manage the data provided. I would like a little guidance on creating my own base-map with the right coordinate system and use of plug-ins. This may be provided on another tutorial;) Oliver is available to help with queries and you feel supported in your learning throughout.

I enjoyed the course and found it very useful. It was though a little bit light on content.

a good introductory course

First time I have ever taken an online course like this in COVID times, and I was very impressed. I thought you built up each section well, so that we weren't overwhelmed with technical knowhow off the bat! Easy to listen to, well put together, and straight forward to follow. I have learned a lot more about mapping! The only thing I would say, is that things have moved around a bit more in the software since the time of your recording, so it was a bit harder to find some things for the course. But it wasn't a huge problem, I managed to get round it easy enough! Might be something worth thinking about later on when the software gets updated again in the future, as you might lose some of the less techy folk. But other than that, spot on, thank you! :-)

Concise introduction the QGIS... Covered enough of the basics to get started on a project. Highly recommend this course.

Great course. Really informative, good tone and speed and and I liked how the tutor does not presume any previous IT knowledge of the user. Think it would be great to include more quizzes so the user can be reassured the information is retained.

It covers the basics to start working with gis data. Creating and interact with maps. It also covers basic tools and moving around Qgis. Easy to follow and with hands on exercises.
