Kotlin is a statically-typed, general-purpose programming language used to develop for the Java Virtual Machine and Android devices Kotlin is an amalgamation of the object-oriented and functional programming paradigms and can also be compiled into JavaScript source code

Android development is a software creation process that focuses on applications, better known as apps, that are compatible with devices running the Android operating system (OS) Because Android is an open-source project, developers have easy access to the Android software development kit (SDK) Many use this kit in conjunction with Kotlin, Java, and C++ programming languages to make their apps The Android SDK tools compile your code along with any data and resource files into an APK, or Android package, which is an archive file that uses a apk suffix One APK file contains all Android app contents used by devices to install your app When the app is complete and ready for release, Android developers can upload their apps to the Google Play Store for users to download for android game development

Object-oriented programming (OOP) is a computer programming paradigm where a software application is developed by modeling real-world objects into software modules called classes Consider a simple point of sale system that keeps a record of products purchased from wholesale dealers and the products sold to the customer An object-oriented language would implement these requirements by creating a Product class, a Customer class, a Dealer class, and an Order class All of these classes would interact together to deliver the required functionality where each class would be concerned with storing its own data and performing its own functions This is the basic idea of object-oriented programming or also called OOP

Excellent... I've been learning Java programming for quite a while: the overview is just what I needed as an intro to Kotlin. For over 30 years I developed C++ apps for medical devices. Now I'm looking to develop apps for android.

Android geliştirmeye yeni başlayan biri olarak eğitimden oldukça memnun kaldım. Konular basitten zora doğru ilerliyor ve anlatım genel olarak gayet anlaşılır. Özellikle örnekler üzerinden gidilmesi öğ

Learning Kotlin in Android Studio 2026.1.3. Hello orld and Variables errors when following instructor's steps. > Could not create task ':kotlintest:com.example.myfirstproject.HelloWorldKt.main()'. > SourceSet with name 'main' not found. I could not find away around this and I am new so I have no idea where to go from here.

It was hard to follow the Jetpack compose lectures starting from the Layout lecture, since current code uses Scaffold instead of Surface which is used in the lecture and it doesn't work the same. I did search for that issue in the Questions, which has a comment to jump to another lecture, however that lecture doesn't go deep into Scaffold vs Surface, and mentions that they went into that in another lecture. The Layout lecture should really be updated as Scaffold by default sets max width and setting the Row layout still results in overlap. Also if a student doesn't have that much time it would be good to add a lecture about what they should focus on if they want to write new projects; i.e. prioritizing Jetpack Compose over the older tech.

This is a very good and comprehensive Android course. It first teaches the basics of Kotlin, and then how to develop Android apps with Kotlin. It also includes real-world projects, not just theory. The course even covers the fundamentals of Jetpack Compose. I would recommend it to everyone.

I highly recommend this course! The content is incredibly easy to grasp, even if you are a complete beginner. The instructor explains everything in such a brilliant and pedagogical way that no one is left behind on the platform – everyone is part of the journey from start to finish

Your way of explaining things—your voice and style—is so calming and engaging that I couldn’t stop listening, and I really appreciate that. Even if I had no interest in this field, I’d still get interested because of you. I recommend you to everyone, even to those who don’t know English.

By James Syvertsen on 11/6/2025

Good instruction, but outdated. Most of the content (ie: REST API) is from 2021, and with mobile, and particularly open source frameworks, it is behind. Android Studio and the frameworks are constantly changing and one unfortunate challenge in this course is having to work around that.

By Claire Tsai on 11/27/2023

Overall it is an amazing course, but less about fragments. Anyway, the final part about git is also a highlight. I would recommend to my friends.

By Qobilbek Riskaliev on 2/27/2023

I started this course without any knowledge of android development, but I got a big motivation and experience from this course, thank you Mehmed, and your team for creating this enjoyable and very useful course. I won't forget this course forever as it was my beginning start and great motivation.
