Created by: Matt Greencroft
Last updated November 2020
What you will learn
- How to build responsive and reactive front-ends with Angular
- How to get up to speed quickly with the Typescript programming language
- How to connect Angular to a REST back-end developed in Java (Spring Boot)
- How to ensure that the application and REST API are secured using industry standard techniques like JWTs, HttpOnly cookies and more
Course Description
This course is for existing Java developers who want to learn the popular Angular framework for developing front-end Web interfaces.
In the course we cover all of the main principles of building websites in Angular, including the Typescript Language. This is taught with reference to Java and Java web technology examples, making it a very quick and easy way for Java developers to upgrade their skills to Angular. No prior knowledge of Javascript or Typescript is needed, although some basic HTML is useful.
We then learn how to create a REST API in Java (using Spring Boot) and configure it to work with an Angular front end. Some experience of Spring Boot will be helpful.
And finally we cover securing the Angular site and the REST front end in quite a lot of depth. By the end of the course you'll understand CORS, Cross Site Scripting (XSS), JSON Web Tokens (JWT) and importantly how to ensure that the site is built and secured to production standards.

A great Angular content indeed !! But not recommended to a newbie as it doesn't explain the basics of angular elaborately. The tough part are thrown to the reader at the beginning itself. so, some concepts are difficult to grasp initially. However, as the video progresses on, it slowly takes hold on the Angular course material. Thanks!!

Course content is well explained. The content is also generally put into a larger context to help understand the larger picture. Cons: my codebase deviated from the instructors because mine required lots more type checking. Very late in the course, I changed a couple of configuration variables in tsconfig.json, which helped out very much. I wish the instructor would have mentioned this and preferably at the beginning of the course.

The lectures are given in an understandable way and it's nice that you build an application during the course. Since I am working with a much newer version of Angular, I had to make some fixes here and there to make it work as expected.

I'm half way into the course and really enjoying it, great and simple way to teach. i hope the rest of the course is as good as this. I will be rating this again at the end of the course.

Pros: 1.Course is good and very well explained. 2.It definitely helped me in getting comfortable with Angular. 3.Fail scenarios are covered upto an extent. But there were real life issues which I faced during development(and were not present in course explanation) like: 1. Though I have followed all the steps of tutorial but still I am issue related to CORS in chrome browser(not able to resolve yet). --------------- Also, Expecting response of questions under Q/A section from the team.

The tutor is a little bit fast, so I am finding a little difficult to follow him. It would be better if he could a little bit slow so that we could get time to understand and process the logic

This is an excellent course to learn Angular for Java Developer. Instructor has put in lot of effort to make the course easy to understand. Good and clear explanation of all the topics with easy methodology. i have already taken one Angular course from another instructor, but not satisfied with the way of teaching and stop that in between, after that i looked for many other courses, this is a perferct course i found and the content is very usefull, in the begining i started with visual Studio code but after that i purchased licenced version of Intellije Idea, 30 days is for trail version and i have completed this course in 5-6 days. Highly recommended for someone who wants to learn Angular.

Matt Greencroft is one of the best instructors I have ever come across - so much so, that I simply search for his name on udemy sometimes just to see if he has released anything new. I love the way he rationalises each step that is taken and rationale is really important unless one is a robot - its what helps things stick for me. "Angular 8 hands on for Developers" does not disappoint. One gets a very sound and fundamental understanding of how Angular works and why. (*This is not an advanced course in Angular).

I think the course was excellently planned. I kept me interested all the time, and it provided me with the knowledge I was looking for. I bought also two other courses on Angular but this one was the most interesting to follow as I have experience with Java and searched to expand to Angular. I may say also that everything worked as shown on videos (I found maybe one thing only which was not mentionned by the author, but I was provided with the starting and ending code for each module so that was really helpful when I needed help due to my mistakes. Matt guided me through the possible pitfalls in the development so now I feel confident to start my own projects. I think this was a well spent money. Thank you Matt!

The texts in the editor of your screen looks very small and as the background is black, its very painful to watch and catch the scripts written. please enlarge the editor screen to make it more clearly visible or have a white background. I need to keep my eyes close to my monitor to see it clearly.. my eyes are burning .:(
