Course Description
Want to learn to rig and pose an anime character in Blender? And at the same time, learn the more complex aspects of 3D modelling such as topology and edge flow?
In this course, you’ll learn how to model anime characters and develop skills in box modelling techniques. This is a very technical approach and different to the sculpting workflow, which we cover in other courses.
You’ll make clothing for your characters, and learn basic to intermediate techniques which include rigging the clothing and texturing. These simple, yet effective, techniques will prepare you for more advanced modelling and topology
This course is aimed at intermediate Blender users looking for more advanced techniques and a “stepping stone” course to make the jump from beginner to pro!
You’ll need a reasonable understanding of the blender interface, ideally having gone through one of our more beginner friendly Blender courses.
You’ll get full lifetime access for a single one-off fee. The creators are qualified and experienced with modelling and coding, so are able to explain complex concepts clearly, as well as entertain along the way.
All students have access to the Q&A where our Instructors, Teaching Assistants and Community are ready to help answer your questions and cheer on your success.
Note: access to this course comes with an optional, free community site where you can share games and 3D models, as well as connect with thousands of other students.
Level up in Blender and create your own anime characters now!

Grant Abbitt
I started learning blender in the late 90’s and started using it for some motion graphics work for a small film company that I ran.
I went into teaching which was meant more as a backup option when the film work was not so regular. The teaching gradually took over and I have been teaching now for around 15 years. I moved into teaching games design 6 years ago which rekindled my excitement for 3D animation. I then started to find bits and pieces of freelance work and created my youtube channel Gabbitt Media.
Since then my channel has over 450,000 subscribers and I have worked on game models for the game Atlas Empires along with many other interesting projects from engineering to 3d printing.

The course was very simple to understand, I somewhat understood most of the topology building, but I would've appreciated a little more explaining or maybe a model that had good anime character topology. But I did learn a lot and that is what I came for and I am satisfied with my new knowledge

Translated English: It’s really hard to find courses that teach how to make a character in Blender. Most of the time, they’re either very simple ones or high-quality courses with more than 40 hours of content. There are also some anime-related ones, but with questionable quality, sometimes even looking like the instructor is using something. But this one is really good. The instructor is amazing, teaching step by step and also explaining the famous “why” behind things, showing other ways to do the same task and following everything along with you. Some criticism though. I took longer than necessary, in my opinion, mainly because I lost motivation while modeling the character, which is honestly very tiring and repetitive. But once I decided to continue, everything flowed smoothly. The unwrapping, painting, and rigging parts were actually very easy, and I managed to absorb a lot from them. However, I believe that if I tried to make the character again by myself, I wouldn’t be able to model it that well, since this really comes from practice. On the other hand, the parts I mentioned I did better at (which are probably the easiest ones lol), I’m sure I could do again without much trouble. So maybe adding more character modeling practice, like making variations of different body parts, would help build more experience. The course is great for those who already know the basics of Blender and want to learn more, especially about characters. Of course, I’m not the best person to judge this, since it was my first character ever. Still, I believe that getting good at this really requires practice, training, and a lot of time invested, doing it over and over again. Anyway, I highly recommend buying the course, it’s totally worth it.

I already knew the basics of Blender and had created a few characters by following YouTube tutorials. However, this is by far the best video series I’ve learned from. The instructor explains clearly and at a steady pace, sharing many useful techniques. Highly recommended if you already have some basic knowledge of Blender and want to learn the full process of creating a character.

Outstanding and very comprehensive course that exceeded my expectations, even in light of the already glowing reviews. I’ve done a couple hard surface modeling courses in the past and had a decent basic grasp of the tools, and this course was the perfect next step for me, Grant is obviously a fantastic instructor with a patient, empathetic and thorough teaching style. I’m certain I will be referencing these lessons as I attempt to work on my own characters going forward.

wow awesome course, at first I didn't like it, then he gave me the basics (such as texturing, modeling and other) although I have already taken many courses, Personally I really liked the course, I RECOMMEND!!! but 1 min: Where can I find similar references to create my model?

I bough the course to learn about character creation and I'm happy with the contents of it. I think course should be look as a starting point, it teach you the fundamentals and I think it does it well. This is the second course from Grant that I complete and I think he does an excellent job, I'd totally recommend it to anyone that want to start with character creation.

Just like the other courses I've taken featuring Grant, the topic was explained with an upbeat cadence and with an unreal talent for teaching. Challenges aplenty throughout the course to help more involved individuals in spreading their wings. I can't wait to get to work on my next course, hopefully featuring Grant once more!

This course is perfect for learning the rope to create a humanoid character! But strong basic skill of Blender is needed. Nevertheless, Master Grant Abbit is an excellent teacher for teaching this course. Anybody can be good at Blender but that doesn't mean they are good at teaching it. Master Grant is both good at Blender and good at teaching Blender.

Amazing course, while the character in question may not look "anime-ish" for some people, the topology, rigging and texturing techniques are the useful for anime style modelling. My suggestion is to do this course as it is, and then re-do it with a more japanese style concept art following the same topology and techniques, I did that and I am glad with the results from the course.
