AWS & Typescript Masterclass - CDK, Serverless, React (Udemy.com)

I had problems with the "Using AWS inside a React project with Amplify". It was because the code was pasted (not written in the lesson), so I could not keep it in sync. I could not use the files in the resource because they were from the finished coded and could not be used in the lesson. Overall, I think it was a good course. Of course there are always problems with keeping it updated due to AWS changes.

One of the best courses I have ever taken on Udemy. The content was great and the instruction to tackle different problems was awesome. Also I think the way the instructor explained different concepts was clear and easy to acquire in general, despite English may not be his mother tongue. I gave this course 9/10 since there are some out-dated stuffs regarding the Amplify old version. And although this was mentioned, the updated code was not available within the videos. Would be better if this could be updated.

Excellent course overall Alex. It is difficult to find something that walks you through exactly what you want to do but your course comes close. I gave 4.5 rather than 5 stars because I think there are some improvements that can be made, primarily in the organization of the content. For example, I think it would be useful to have the Typescript overview section in the beginning, so to allow Typescript novices some guidance before jumping into the CDK code immediately. Typescript experts can always skip that section. I got to the end, and then went back to do the CDK code again after learning more about Typescript, and it made a lot more sense and was easier to learn. I would also like to see a unified demo application created, including the code on CodePipeline and CI/CD deployment. Making two separate applications for each topic is not as useful as creating a single working application that deploys via the CI/CD pipeline, especially when the deploy code is so different between the Launcher.ts method and the bin/cdk-cicd.ts method. Otherwise, it is a very excellent course and I'm glad I registered. Thanks again for creating it and keep up the good work!

Great course for hands on experience with AWS CDK, API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB and CICD (not to mention bonus Typescript). Really helped to provide a real understanding of concepts that were only abstract to me from other AWS courses. The teacher responds to questions himself typically within 24 hours, which is not something I can say for any other course I've taken on Udemy and I've taken a lot.

I have now completed more than 10 Udemy courses and I have to admit this is by far one of the best courses. The lecturer is competent and did the effort to make sure everything is working and that we students dont face into "nasty" -- one of his favourite words in the course I guess -- bugs. By what I can evaluate the course uses technologies that are cutting-edge. I recommend this course to everyone who wants to get an introduction into Infrastructure as Code with CDK and typescript. I dont recommend this course to anyone who had just a glance into AWS because then you will not really understand what the different types of services represents and especially you will be really confused with the IAM (identity & access management) system in AWS. My Evaluation is that the teacher did his best, and the explanation were good in the most cases. I understand that he had to sometimes skip topics such as jest and that is okay to put it as prerequisite. Nevertheless as a lecturer I would definitely make sure to put all prerequisites in the specific section of the course that are needed. Especially as an example the CI/CD section, what the hell is even CI/CD would the beginner ask. I mean as a developer it is I guess common sense to research or google for terms that are unknown for someone, but then of course would it be nice to have links attached to it so someone that is interested can easily look up and come back. Overall this course is great and it was a hella fun to be a part of this. Thanks Alex for this course and I hope soon a new course regarding AWS.

Exactly what I was looking for to start with CDK. I had read some reviews mentioning that the course lacked sufficient theory, but personally, it fit perfectly for me. It's important to remember that a 14-hour course can't cover everything comprehensively. I suggest approaching the problem from a different perspective. Simply follow the course, try to start CDK correctly, and apply it to your own projects while delving deeper into the subject. Enjoy the learning experience!

The instructor is really good at explaining complex topics in a clear and concise way. I started this course before the update, which was a bit outdated, and as a result, I had to find solutions on my own. However, after the new update in MAR 2023, everything is now up-to-date. I have learned numerous practical examples that I believe will help me in pursuing the ASW developer certificate..

After listening to the whole course carefully and going through all the examples, I think I chose the right course to learn the subject and experience the experience almost like working with a real professional who shows not only how to write correctly and wisely but also how to deal with real problems encountered in professional life. Therefore I highly recommend this course, I would love updates and more courses in the future.

I found a lot of good information in this course, and though it was a lot for me to take in from not having not a background in typescript or backend AWS I think I have taken away a good deal and can come back to better learn after applying some more myself on a personal project now that I am almost done. Not taking away any stars but a point of unpleasantness anyways for me was to find the react aspect using classes which has fallen out of favor in the react world quite some time ago. I ended up having to rewrite it to functional components for myself instead. Though this complaint may be situational to individuals.

This was overall a useful course and it contains a lot of knowledge, but I wish it was a bit more focused. I'm a bit underwhelmed by the amount of use cases of the CDK covered here. I wish instead of e.g. a whole section dedicated to creating a web app in React just to have something to plug into the previously created backend, it would cover more examples of CDK usage, because pretty much all we made with it was a REST API. I liked that the teacher included a lot of quality of life tips regarding the debugging of lambdas, usage of VS code etc. Another thing that was missing for me was some kind of a "do it yourself" assignment. This is the way that knowledge is solidified, at least for me. Without this, to remember how the CDK is used, you pretty much have to invent some project of your own after finishing this course, because throughout it you will just be copying what the teacher is doing.
