Alex Dan — Cloud Architect, Developer & Instructor
With over a decade of hands-on software engineering experience, I've built my career at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, web development, and practical education.
My technical journey started in embedded automotive systems — developing Java-based navigation solutions for major car brands. From there, I moved into cloud engineering, building AWS-powered data pipelines for connected vehicles using Node.js, TypeScript, Lambda, DynamoDB, and a full suite of AWS services. I later worked as a Node.js developer at one of Eastern Europe's largest e-commerce platforms, before transitioning into independent cloud architecture consulting.
Today, as a freelance Cloud Architect, I design and implement scalable cloud solutions across industries — from automotive to enterprise — with a focus on infrastructure reliability, CI/CD automation, and modern serverless architectures.
Parallel to my engineering career, I've been teaching on Udemy since 2017, growing a community of over 300,000 students across 19 courses. My current focus is AI-assisted development — helping developers work smarter with tools like GitHub Copilot, VS Code AI extensions, and agentic coding workflows.

This is one of those moments I realize how often I've used a tool without actually understanding it. Alex is very thorough and covers much material in a short time. I can now say I understand how to use VSCode more than before. Great job on the course!

Thank you for the excellent VS Code training session. The concepts were explained clearly and in a structured manner, making it easy for beginners to follow along. The hands-on demonstrations and real-world examples helped me understand how to effectively use VS Code for Python development. I especially appreciated the trainer's patience in answering questions and ensuring everyone was engaged. Overall, it was a very informative and valuable learning experience.

This is a fantastic VS code course which covers everything you will need right from basics to advanced stuff. The pace of the course is really good. Great recommendation about extensions. Good resources are provided for trying on our own. I really liked inclusion of testing part which is very rare. Also C++ was covered. I just wished if this course included demos using Windows OS ...

I really liked this course from the instructor: Alan Dan. I am a beginner in the world of programming, and I am really glad that I chose this course, because I needed to learn how to work with the code editor: Visual Studio Code. This course contains all the necessary information so that anyone can start working with the Visual Studio Code IDE. I really liked the way the information was presented. I do not regret for a moment that I chose this course and I will definitely buy other courses from this instructor. I recommend this course to everyone who wants to start writing code.

Bardzo podobał mi się ten kurs. Jest on wyczerpujący. Prowadzący włożył w niego wiele serca i pracy.

Yes very informative and I appreciate being able to learn about the finer details inside the IDE. I have taken courses in the past that customized way to much. I think in this course it was at a good level (a couple things).

Great course in my opinion. Although I use JetBrains Rider for my work, it is always good to catch up to Visual Studio IDE or the scripting editor VSCode and this course nailed it. Deducted 0.5 points due to AI slop assistant (simulated intelligence not necessarily artificial intelligence imo, marketing gimmick scam altman presented early 2000s' chatbots to the entire globe) asking me why I prefer X over Y and such. Kinda pointless question there are millions of ways to handle programming and it is a personal choice, pick whatever you are most productive and comfortable with. It might be unfair to deduct this though because I am not sure if this AI slop was enforced by Udemy while their website is falling apart, or if the instructor himself so if instructor is innocent consider this course a 5/5 otherwise it is still not a big deal at all because you can skip them all anyway and I recommend people to do that because it is a waste of time. Thanks, very good course overall!

The material is easy to follow and does an excellent job of explaining the topics covered. The examples provided are very helpful, making complex concepts more accessible and understandable. Overall, it's a well-structured resource that enhances the learning experience.

This course feels like a productivity refactor for your brain. I went from using VS Code at a basic level to using it like a fully optimized IDE. Shortcuts, extensions, and workflows are explained clearly and practically—everything clicks fast. It’s like turning on IntelliSense for your daily work: fewer clicks, faster execution, cleaner workflow. If you use VS Code regularly, this course is a solid upgrade.

This Course was very good for me, it made me use VS Code in my day-to-day job(Cyber security Engineer) and helped in having scripting capabilities and get to understand the git , co-pilot and other needed things to start with. I started the course with no coding experience in the past other than general IT knowledge of what is the used script or programming. I would recommed anyone this course if you need a good understanding. I Thank and appreciate the Instructor knowledge and intrest in sharing this knowledge through this coure, i can tell you love doing the work.
