Course Description
In this course, we will cover everything from basic Google Tag Manager concepts, tools, and tags all the way to more advanced topics and interconnected tags.
We will start with the basic theory and transition to over 21 real-world examples so you can build your own tags as we go along.
By the end of this course, you will have a deep understanding of Google Tag Manager (GTM) and be able to come up with your own tag ideas and implement them confidently.
Become a tracking superstar capable of executing advanced marketing experiments and installing 3rd party tools without the need for an IT expert.
With Google Tag Manager, you can quickly add new marketing tools to your website with little to no technical knowledge. This way you can speed up testing and the deployment of marketing experiments.
In short Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a free platform from Google (duh :) ) that allows you to install different types of marketing tools/scripts like Google Analytics 4, Facebook Pixel, and Mailchimp forms,... to your website.
You'll learn how to do all this without any special technical knowledge.

SOME OF THE TOPICS WE WILL COVER
The initial Google Tag Manager installation and browser setup In this section, we’ll take a look at some of the essential browser plugins that will help you debug and troubleshoot problems. I’ll show you how to create and set up GTM on the most popular eCommerce platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace) and on a custom website. We’ll go through some of the most common problems that might occur during your setup and how to solve them.
Google Tag Manager overview and some good practices This section will be a bit more theoretical as we’ll explore and explain different parts of Google Tag Manager. We’ll take a look at what tags, variables, and triggers are used for. I will also give you some of the best practices I've picked up over the years.
Set up essential tags and publish them In this section, we’ll set up all the basic tracking that you would need. Like Facebook, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and LinkedIn … Then we’ll take a look at how to create a new version and publish the container on your website. We will also take a look at how to copy and paste your tags to different containers and accounts. Most importantly we'll learn how to check if your tags work correctly with the help of Google Tag Assistant.
How to improve & expand your tracking data In this section, we’ll build on what we learned in the previous section and learn some new concepts. We will take the tags previously created and improve them. We’ll send custom events to Facebook, learn to track scroll distance, time on site, and link clicks, and send all this data to Google Analytics. We'll also play around with cookies and URL parameters.
More advanced tracking concepts In the last section, we’ll take a look at custom dimensions and how to exclude your internal team's traffic. We will also look at the visibility trigger and how it can replace or improve your scroll tracking. With the help of the data layer and custom events, we will track purchases and mark them as conversions in Google Ads Manager.

Interesting! The content of this course is effective for getting started with GTM. Perhaps it could have been more complete if there had been more videos explaining certain basic concepts or reviewing certain trigger types such as DOM ready or consent initialization for example. It would have made the title "The most in-depth GTM course for 2024" more deserving in my opinion.

At the time of doing the course GA4 was starting to become active, and a lot of the interfacing and structures is still based on the UA Analytics setup. However the creator has stated he is in the process of updating the course so will have to re-check back for this. Overall this course gives you a great startup idea of the functionality of Google Tag Manager and how to use it properly. I had to go back a few times to understand everything, but at the end of the day I am better for it.

Good course so far, with a great instructor. It's just a little frustrating because the instructor is using Universal Analytics, when GA4 is replacing Universal Analytics any day now. I would have appreciated a course that works with the most current tools the industry will be using. Otherwise, it's perfect.

I learned a lot from this course, and enough to start implementing the most crucial triggers and tags. The information was taught clearly, but at some parts the navigation between the windows was too fast for me to track. Also, I wish the instructor would have given more background for why we should set up each component, so that the course wouldn't be too technical.

Sensational use of 4.5 hours of learning. The lecturer explains everything very clearly and raises interesting issues that can be encountered using Google Tag Manager. The only downside I could cite is the explanation of the issues on the soon-to-be-discontinued Universal Analytics. However, the basics of GTM remain the same except for a few issues. I definitely recommend this course to anyone, even those who have never dealt with GTM. Many thanks to you Ziga.

I personally have been having issues with GTM for quite some time as I've always learned bits and pieces about it, but this course was structured well enough for my to properly understand what, why and how. GTM is an exceptionally powerful tool and as a marketer I believe it will improve my campaign performance and data collection a lot.

Great course. Is fairly in depth. I have a good bit of experience with GTM and still learned several things. I feel like a total beginner could follow along as well though. The only "complaint", if you would even call it that, and the reason for the missing half star, is the title is "...for 2022" and the GA4 section seems to have been thrown in as an afterthought. I totally understand this from a creator perspective but I'd love to see this course redone using GA4 in all of the examples since UA is on its way out. Then, it would TRULY be a "...for 2022" course! Overall though, excellent course! Worth every penny!

I wanted to get an easy to follow introduction to GTM as I'm not technically skilled in java, html etc. I found this course very helpful although I would admit that as the course progressed around Section 5 the material became technically challenging for me. I definitely need to repeat those 2 sections. Would be great if you could do a bit more on GA4. Just as I'm beginning to understand GA Google has done a big update . Thank you for taking the time to put the course together. I really enjoyed that each lesson was short with lots of examples

I have found this course really helpful in understanding what is possible in GTM and the trainer is clearly an expert in the field! I'm not giving 5 stars because I find that the course has opened up quite a few questions that are not covered (perhaps because a decent knowledge of technical concepts is expected). E.g. sometimes the trainer covers in a lot of helpful detail how to complete a certain action but does not explain why or sometimes the trainer refers to technical concepts without explaining what they mean. Also, I think it'd be really helpful to cover a little more on GTM structure and best practices when structuring events (especially for GA4) but a bunch of helpful best practice tips are covered. Whilst the course offers a lot of practical scenarios, I think it'd benefit from some conceptual / theoretical background to help understand how the different exercises fit in the bigger picture. Overall, it's probably a fantastic course for someone who's keen to understand what's possible with GTM but those hoping to become confident users of GTM might find that their expectations are not fully met (although I do appreciate that becoming a truly confident and well-rounded GTM expert will only come with experience).
