absolutely super course, 4min and 7min videos are gr8, I learnt edgeloops previously and was wandering how to get the topology around the eyes and lips tat in character modeling, but, got that answer by doing this course via the soda can modeling and the full modeling workflow. i really enjoyed playing with vertices, edges, scaling, inset and making a series of edges in straight line using scale + y axis after the ctrl+R (edgeloop). must learn :).

When I tried to take this course as an absolute beginner, I couldn't follow because I didn't know anything about Blender, the shortcuts, etc. So I took Introduction to Blender For Beginners (https://www.udemy.com/introduction-to-blender-for-beginners/), which taught me a lot but was a bit too much for my brain all at once. So then I came back here and was really able to follow along! I recommend the combination of both courses for absolute beginners.

While the subject is deceptively simple, the instructor expertly teaches the hidden challenges in modeling a soda can and in the process, the student learns some good modeling practices that can be transfered to other subjects. It's a good introduction to hard edge modeling for beginners and the teacher comes from an excellent and established blender school so the course is very competent. This is a good course for any beginner or person seeking to get more blender experience under their belt.

Great course and Mark is a very good instructor. I would highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to learn more about how to easily model an asset similar to this with simple and well thought out planning. I would suggest students have a slight understanding of how to un-select all (the A key) as this is used quite often, but not pointed out. Overall, I would love to take more courses from Mark if made available.

It is a very nice course and really useful for both beginners and intermediate students. The tutor has introduced techniques for making modeling easiest. Great. But the last section of texturing is outdated because it was made in blender render. So i think that is not a big problem, one can practice something by own. at last thanks to Udemy.com for providing this very useful Modeling course free.

I've seen other tutorials on soda can modeling, but this was the best and most detailed explanation I've found. From start to finish, Mark did a great job of explaining what was going on in a way I found easy to understand. Now I have a 3D asset I can use in whatever projects I choose, and I have a better understanding of UV mapping so that I can create and apply different label textures as the project dictates. Great course!

Enjoyed the work flow, didn't go into detail on cycles materials which I thought it would, (Aluminium can with the metal showing through the label, having the label design spread up to the can's neck) plus the detail on the ring pull was lacking, I was interested in how he would achieve this, up to that point I enjoyed the presentation, style and tone, I was just left wanting to know more.

It's a great, short, and to the point tutorial in making a can in Blender. As far as explanation goes, I think he goes the most in depth with the texturing at the end whereas the rest of the tutorial is a step by step to getting the can rendered without much of a dive into the hows and whys. BUT, I entered this course expecting to get a crash course in texturing and that's exactly what I got. Absolutely excellent as a free course.

Why do You say »actual« a million times? It is hard to follow if You do so.

I think for a beginner the course is excellent better than a few other beginner courses I gave it only 4 stars because do not feel we completed the project since we did not go into UV unwrapping the remainder of the project. The push tab normals were in the wrong direction which if rendering in Cycles could present an issue little details like that caused me to remove the one star. Overall I would still recomend this course the project paced style was very appealing
