Build a Stock Market Web App With Python and Django (Udemy.com)

The only thing that kept this from a 5 star was that John introduced a delete button in a table displaying stock data from the add_stock page, said that implementing it correctly would be a bit confusing, then introduced a ridiculous way of deleting a stock where the implementation is unrealistic in the real world. When he was asked in the questions how to implement the delete the way he originally introduced it, he said "that's not covered in the course." To me, he could have and should have taught the concept the way he introduced it. It would have been more realistic and thorough. He also should not have copped out during the questions. It made the end of a good tutorial seem rushed and sloppy...disappointing. As an aside, if he happens to read this review, he could go back and answer the question of how to implement the delete stock button from the add_stock page from within the stock table. That would be a very big save.

The course delivers what it promises. Very practical, to the point, and the chosen strategy to build the app consuming an API was a catch for me. Kept my interest throughout the whole project. I also point out that I was able to understand the very basic flow of Django through simple, but effective examples. The URLs, Views, Templates and Models links and flow are not misterious and difficult to understand as it was before. An excellent start to Django by example. Lots of fun.

I loved this course. For a long time I wanted to learn Python and Django and create a workable website :). I had enrolled a course which had full stack web development in its curriculum but it was quite overwhelming. This course actually helped me understand a lot of core concepts with a simplistic approach. The one key thing about this course is the flow / sequence which John has used to pass on the knowledge because Python and Django can be quote overwhelming at times. He made the learning experience quite good. Since this was a 4 hour course, I took it up on a weekend and was able to finish it in approximately 6 hours which was great. Thank you John for this great course. Please do post some 4 hour code along sessions on different domains as well :)

Didnt finish up by showing how to actually deploy the app to a webserver or how to use a production level db.

I was taking a course on python django and it was awful . This has really helped me start to understand the framework and relationships much better

Doesn't show much for the mac and linux users who may have different commands or directories to reference

Excellent course, the project shows you how to create a Django webapp from start to finish. The code itself is really concise and you mostly end up copy pasting most of the code, which myself as a lazy programmer really appreciated. I would recommend this course for people that already know how to program and/or ambitious students willing to learn all of it from scratch but beware the learning curve might be steep without previous background.

Love project style courses from John. He gets right into the project and build the project while teaching, so you know it works.

Tutor's teaching skills are good and explained all the concepts of this course clearly and you must have some basic knowledge in Django to understand them as this is not a tutorial for Django but a project course that expects you have some knowledge in Django to implement them practically.
