Course Description
React is a hugely popular front-end library and React developers are always in high demand in the web dev job market. In this course you'll learn how to use React from the ground-up to create dynamic & interactive websites, and by the time you finish you'll be in a great position to succeed in a job as a React developer. You'll also have 4 full React projects under your belt too, which you can customize and use in your portfolio!
Throughout the course you'll learn exactly what React is and why it's such a popular choice to make interactive & dynamic websites. You'll learn how to set up a React website from scratch, how to create React components, how to use state to manage component data & how to work with interactive events such as click events & form submissions.
You'll also get hands-on practise with the React Router (which is used in React to create website with "multiple pages") and you'll see how these are actually known as Single Page Applications (or SPA's for short).
We'll dive into React Hooks such as useState, useEffect, useParams & useHistory and use them to help us create 4 full React projects from scratch - a memory game, a recipe website, a finance tracker & a project management application.
You'll also learn some more avanced topics such as the React Context API to handle global state & reducers (including the useReducer hook) to help manage more complex state.
Once you've mastered React, we'll take our websites to the next level by integrating them with Firebase - a backend as a service. You'll learn how to add services such as a real-time database & authentication into your React sites as well as how to allow end-users to upload files from their computers with the help of Firebase Storage. Finally, I'll teach you how to build & deploy your React sites to the web using Firebase Hosting.
By the end of the course you'll have a solid understanding of React & be able to make your own production-ready websites!

A Little About Me...
Hey gang, my name's Shaun and since a young age I've had an obsession for nearly anything tech-related. I've been coding since about the age of 15 (half of my life, now...phew!) and work as a full-stack web developer and online instructor.
I also run a well-known development tutorial YouTube channel called The Net Ninja with nearly 1 million subscribers. So feel free to browse some of my latest free tutorials on there if you want to check out my teaching style :).
My specialities mainly gravitate around one central language (and my first love) - JavaScript. I've been programming with it for around 12 years and - as with any long-term relationship - have had the pleasure of seeing it's ugly side as well as it's beautiful side. So I know the pitfalls to avoid when using it, and pass these on when appropriate in my tutorials.
As well as teaching, I've also helped to create many very popular, UK-based eCommerce websites, as well as a large amount of smaller, independent websites as well.
Other languages & technologies I use and teach are - Node.js, Vue, React, Python, Ruby, PHP, HTML & CSS.

I have almost completed the course. Enjoyed the learning path as a beginner. Explained each topic with example & fun. Also enjoyed the projects. Though he added update guide at the end, but I think some parts need to be recreated now (especially router and firebase). I had to explore and practice these these topics before starting larger projects. Waiting for his fullstack course (like mern).

I like the projects in the course and the explanations are amazing. I would change to 5 stars if the parts on Firebase and React Router are updated.

This is an exceptional course. The sheer number of project walk-throughs meant that I was ready to fly on my own when I got to 75% through the course. The teaching style is perfect and of course anything complicated can be replayed as many times as you want. In fact, what I loved was that the modules are so short. It means you can fit them into any spare time during the day and walk away having progressed in a painless way. I'd buy more courses from Shaun because this one was so well explained and fun to do. I went in floundering and came away confident in React.

Amazing course! Explain 4.8/5 In the first chapters you will think i didn't learn so mush, but after repeating in many projects you will get it. Well after finishing this course i understood a lot of things. The only thing that i didn't understood that mush was use context. If you can repeat it more in other projects with another functionality. I don't know if that is possible. For the rest everything is perfect! Arrangement of videos 5/5 You get new information one by one smoothly. You don't get all information in one video. You will learn the new information by repeating with many beautiful projects. Video quality 5/5 perfect quality! Global: Thank you for the amazing course ^^

Shaun is a natural at teaching, and his passion for it shows in the courses he offers. He's also very evidently a skilled programmer, with plenty of knowledge to pass on. He could easily offer these courses for more then he does, but he once told me himself that he's committed to keeping his courses widely available (many of them are free), which means poor students like me can still take advantage of the content within. (: I've had the pleasure of taking 3 of Shaun's courses so far, and I have no doubt there'll be more I'll take in the future! Thanks Shaun!

Excellent course! ! My own process of replacing firebase8 to firebase9 and router to router6 has deepened my understanding even more. I hope that Shaun will give a MERN course, and I also hope that Shaun will give an angular course, as well as typescript, ci/cd, devops, kubernete. . . . . . . Am I being a little greedy? Shaun made me hope that he taught me everything I wanted to learn. Also, I'm an international student, but my English isn't really good, I barely got 6.5 in IELTS, which surprisingly didn't affect my understanding of the course content at all. His expressions are always so precise and easy to understand.

Hands down the best React course I've taken. I learned a lot (and still learning). Net Ninja is a great instructor! What made this course great: - No prior React knowledge needed. (Javascript is a must) - Instructor is very hands-on. Explains everything in great detail without padding out. - Provides insight on how React works internally. - Excellent file organization. - Course is well structured. - Challenges provided are fair and makes use of everything taught up to that point of the course. - Provides a Javascript section which is ideal for reference. - Projects are fun to do! Each project gets progressively more complicated but never to a point of feeling overwhelmed. - All code is available on Github. What I feel can improve this course: - Some lectures could have benefited from slides with bullet points for emphasis. Would strongly recommend to enable captions and take as much notes as possible. - Some lectures the instructor copies CSS code and you have to manually go to his Github to view these files. Would have liked a direct link in these cases although I bookmarked his Github. I’m very happy I took this course - 4.5/5

Great teaching style, Shaun tells you just enough in each step for you to understand everything without getting lost and to feel that you're making progress with each lesson. This is in contrast to some other courses I've taken where the instructor probably starts out trying to do the same, but ends up telling you everything there is to know about about something in one go, or otherwise races on coding at lightening speed where they're more showing you how they code rather than teaching you how to. I highly recommend this instructor.

This is the first course I did on Udemy. I have seen Shuan's free playlist on YouTube which is why I decided do this course from him on React. I think this a great course to bridge the gap from a beginner to moderate understanding of React. This course doesn't cover it all of course. You will need to learn more sophisticated state management or some other hooks like (useMemo, useCallBack, etc...) to become a more advanced React developer, but this is probably enough to get going. As far as Firebase in this course is considered, I actually have a few complaints. I don't like the way Firebase was taught in this course. I would have liked it better if he went through the documentation of Firebase, which is really good and easy for beginners, and then showed all the methods and whatnot. By no means, this is a Firebase course. There is loads of other things you can do with Firebase that is not shown here for obvious reasons. Aside from that, this course did held up to my expectation. I have followed along with course by doing similar projects that has at least some additional or fundamental difference from his ones. I think it's very important for anyone doing this course to do the same. All in all, you should get up and running with React and have a few projects to show for in your portfolio without learning any concrete back-end and data base solution. Good luck in your journey!

I started watching the netninja youtube channel to learn html&css 9 months ago. The way he teaches truly amazed me, after feeling confidence with my html&css knowledge, I decided to buy his Modern JS and React courses on udemy. This was the best decision I made. I truly enjoyed his videos and I even felt a bit sorry after finishing. Fast forward to now, I landed my first frontend developer job. I can not thank him enough for the time, effort and care he puts into his work, but still thank you Shaun.
