Course Description
Flutter is a fantastic framework for creating cross-platform applications (mobile, desktop & web), using the Dart programming language.
In this Flutter Masterclass course, you'll learn how to make Flutter applications from scratch (no prior Flutter knowedge is required), including all the basics (such as widgets, layouts, images and styles) and how to make custom themes and how to set up multiple screens and routes.
You'll also learn how to make data models, how to handle forms & user input, manage global state (using Riverpod) and how to integrate a Flutter application with a database and authentication service (using Firebase).
On top of all that, you'll be learning how to animations to your Flutter applications as well, to give them a sleek and natural feel.
As an added bonus - there's a whole chapter near the end of the course about the Dart programming language, which we, as developers, use to make Flutter applications. So the only requirement before you start, is basic knoweldge of essential programming concepts - loops, variables, functions, control flow etc.
Along the way, we'll also make a fully functional mobile application - and by the end of this course, you'll be confident enough to make your very own Flutter applications from scratch.

A Little About Me...
Hey gang, my name's Shaun and since a young age I've had an obsession for nearly anything tech-related. I've been coding since about the age of 15 (half of my life, now...phew!) and work as a full-stack web developer and online instructor.
I also run a well-known development tutorial YouTube channel called The Net Ninja with nearly 1 million subscribers. So feel free to browse some of my latest free tutorials on there if you want to check out my teaching style :).
My specialities mainly gravitate around one central language (and my first love) - JavaScript. I've been programming with it for around 12 years and - as with any long-term relationship - have had the pleasure of seeing it's ugly side as well as it's beautiful side. So I know the pitfalls to avoid when using it, and pass these on when appropriate in my tutorials.
As well as teaching, I've also helped to create many very popular, UK-based eCommerce websites, as well as a large amount of smaller, independent websites as well.
Other languages & technologies I use and teach are - Node.js, Vue, React, Python, Ruby, PHP, HTML & CSS.

Instruction is well structured and clear. I would have given 5 stars but the course is 2 years out of date which creates some SDK and emulator dependency issues as well as code deprecation issues. I think Udemy should include a date which signifies how current the course is. e.g. current at at December 2023 etc.

I have tried a $130 course and i have tired free YouTube videos. So far this is the only video to troubleshoot my problems as i go and has actually been able to help setup Flutter and supporting apps. Very happy so far.

The jargon was a bit too technical, which I think can make it hard for first time developers. Heck, I am not a beginner but I did find myself lost at some points with some of the explanations. Other than that, this was a great course. I understand flutter way better than I did before and got some real value out of this. Good on you, mate!

Shaun is a brilliant mind reader. I love the structure of this course. Even though you might need to explore more into Dart basics and advanced docs before you try the Flutter sections. If the goal is UI building, this is the most up to date course on Udemy.

Shaun takes you through the basics of flutter development at a good pace. He give's plenty of good explanation and makes difficult to understand concepts easier to understand.

I needed Riverpod section a little bit more advanced. It would be useful to mix Riverpod state management with getting / persisting data with Firebase Firestore. Anyway I learned a lot. Thank you!

I initially thought this course only covered the main topic. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that it also includes all the supplementary content—like Forms, Riverpod, Animation, and even a Dart primer. Net Ninja courses are simply the best—clear, concise, and straight to the point. Native English speakers who don’t waste time with filler or fluff.

I think ninja is one of the best in explaining things, also his courses are not very slow pace which makse progress faster and greater, I most likely finish his courses while it's so hard to stick with others.

Jan 2025: Very detailed video explaining step--by-step what needs to be done, with up-to-date content on setting up environment (i.e. Flutter, iOS, Android Studio Code)
