I’m Phil Ebiner, an educator, photographer, filmmaker, and founder of Video School and Photography & Friends. Through my online courses and creative community, I’ve helped millions of students around the world learn practical skills in photography, video production, design, and more. My goal is to make creative skills feel accessible, useful, and encouraging, whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or looking to take your work to the next level.

My teaching style is clear, supportive, and hands-on. I break complex topics into simple steps, explain the “why” behind each technique, and share real-world examples you can immediately apply. As a photographer and filmmaker, I believe great creative work is not just about gear or settings, but about storytelling, intention, observation, and connection. My goal is to help you feel confident, inspired, and capable of bringing your own creative ideas to life.

To much emphasis on reviews. Enough towards I had to leave a bad review

By HARISH PUTHUVEETTIL on 6/15/2026

it was just a supportive video for them

I really like that this course focuses on camera confidence because it’s something a lot of people struggle with, including me. Even within the first few minutes, I could already tell it’s going to help me overcome my camera shynes

By Jacqueline Del Río on 7/26/2020

I think it would be better not to show those funny images, of that actor, because in my opinion take the serious aspect of the course, as a matter of fact I think it would be good idea, either one of you, to show in camera while Christian talks, how it can be done, the movements, what postures are to be used better, the sound of the voice that we should use, how to manage the volume in front of the camera, maybe to show what exercises can be done to help people relax before we talk to the camera, and when to lift the chin or either when to lift the head or tilt it down I little bit, the same way you guys reporters, and speakers do.

I have always been a very shy person in front of the camera, and just from watching these few episodes, I have actually learnt a lot of new ways to build my confidence a bit more, and they seem quite fun.

Good general tips on how to get better at seeming confident on camera. Does not dig deep into why confidence lacks in the first place. Repeats basic advice (practice, talk louder, pretend you're speaking to friends instead of a lens, dress better), and throws news report clips in as examples without explanation of what to observe.

By Jesus Alfonso Rodriguez on 3/5/2017

I started taking an online course on Sign Language, and the tests involve using a camera, either live or recorded. Since I've always been very camera shy, I thought this course would be a nice complement. It's given me very good tips that I can start using right away.

By Matthew Colman on 1/16/2017

Clear, concise and useful tips with good production values and as you'd expect, engaging hosts. It's nice to have a free taster course with enough substance to avoid it feeling like you're sitting through an extended advert. Nicely done.

By Paula Gepner on 1/4/2017

there was only 5 tips what to do to feel more confident on the camera, I expected something more from this course, probably paid version touches the subject more carefully and wider

By Dena Giselle on 11/19/2016

The information is very easy to understand and apply into my daily practices. The instructors have a pleasant way of extending the information. It is quick, fun and useful. I see much improvement in my video presentations. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
