After Effects CC Masters: VFX, Motion Graphics, Animation+ (Udemy.com)

I’ve take several courses presented by Phil Ebner, and each one is detailed, thorough, well-resourced, and exceptionally planned to help complete beginners shake off their reservations of Adobe products and learn them to a professional level. In my own job, I have consistently used knowledge gained from Phil’s videos. I am far more confident in my skills and am excited to learn from him. I highly suggest taking his courses.

Phil is a good teacher, and many of the lessons were very useful for a beginner and has helped me tremendously. The use of repeated simpler techniques, the trim paths, masking, shapes etc, to complete wildly different effects has helped me practice all the skills learned constantly in previous lessons without feeling like I was repeating myself, so that was really appreciated. My issues stem from the fact that many of the later lessons seem to be taken from much older versions of After Effects, before 2017, and now in 2026, more features have been added, so these lessons probably should be updated for the most recent software, or something as close to it, as difficult as it may be. It also came off a little lazy using lessons that were clearly created for a different platform to simply add them at the end of the course without really planning how they would work with the skill level of trainees at that point. Some of the resources were also not provided so it made a couple of lessons difficult to follow along with. Overall, the course is very good and worth it, creating ways to practice the skills and implement them in new ways, ensuring strong foundational skills, but it seems like it needs to be updated to the most recent software with a more committed lesson structure and plan that has all the resources required.

a lot of things like u can mask shape layers in not updated,overall course was pretty as a lot of key learnings that sets the workflow were there including taper,dashes etc though i was hoping for more advanced knowledge,even then for the price it was still solid!!! Thanks.

I started this course as a complete beginner, and I must say, Phil is an amazing instructor. He breaks down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand lessons, making the learning process seamless. I highly recommend this course to anyone with no prior experience in After Effects or motion graphics. Phil truly delivers quality education and ensures you grasp the fundamentals effectively.

The Course is great, Phil is a great instructor you can learn everything It is best suited for beginners who don't know anything, and by the end of the course, you will have confidence that you have learned it. The only thing I was missing is that Phil needed to explain how to edit video styles like Ali Abdal and Iman Gadzhi using After Effects and plugins, which make the workflow even faster Apart from that, it's a great course Thank you.

It is a really great course for beginners in motion design! You will learn all the basic features and tools of After Effects and create interesting projects. After finishing this course I felt more confident with After Effects. Phil is explaining topics in detail and I like his teaching style. The only moment why I chose to rate the course 4,5 is because the graphic style of some designs is outdated. On other matters, this course fully met all my expectations about learning the basics of After Effects. I must also acknowledge that for students with more experience in motion design, I would definitely recommend choosing other courses on Udemy with an emphasis on morphing, character animation with Duik, and other deeper topics.

The course is very clear and structured with a step-by-step process and tutorials. Although I knew the basics, I had lost touch for years. It is an excellent course for beginners, and I really appreciate how much I've gained from it. I also went through all the bonus tutorials, even though they were a bit repetitive. They served as building blocks and refreshed my memory of what I had learned.

It's more than an amazing course. This course covers up every aspect of animation from cool transitions to kinetic typography and a lot of other techniques. As a beginner, I was not at all familiar with all these animating tricks but Phil has got the way to tell everything in a smoother and efficient manner. After this course, I got confident in my animations and I also got an internship on video editing. Thank you a lot Phil Ebiner. There are no words left to describe how rich this course is. Hey Phil! I took your Motion Graphics & Animation course about 6 years ago, and I just had to come back and say — that course genuinely changed my life. I was a pharmacist. No design background, no animation experience, just curiosity and your course. The way you broke down After Effects made it feel approachable, and your teaching style kept me hooked all the way through. Fast forward to today. I'm a full-time remote animator earning $2,000/month, doing what I love. A career I built from scratch, largely because of the foundation you gave me. Phil goes thoroughly over many of the same things again and again but honestly it just helps to cement those things even more and give you a really good basic understanding of AE. I work at an Explainer Video company and with the knowledge from this course I've been able to expand my expertise in my career. Obviously there's many things that Phil doesn't cover but with what you learn here, it's pretty easy to figure out or search for methods on doing different things, or in my situation I just ask my colleagues. Also this course would be great if Phil could maybe also focus on some of the great free plugins that are out there.
