Course Description
No previous drawing knowledge is required to start. This course is designed for the absolute beginner in mind so we will be beginning from square one.
In this course you will learn to think like an artist and draw a cartoon guy named Tommy Toon by building up simple 3D shapes. This will give you some firm groundwork to begin learning how to design your own characters and draw from your head.
Drawing cartoons is a great first step in learning to draw without fully mastering anatomy and texture detail. Using the rubber hose style made popular by figures such as Max Fleischer and Walt Disney, you can achieve a 3D figure that can be posed dynamically, colored, and shaded.
If you like this course and want to dive further into the topic, look for my "Ultimate Cartoon Drawing" and "How to Draw Dynamic Stickmen" courses where I teach more advanced techniques that build on this method. Let's bring your characters to the next level!
Don't forget to claim your FREE Workbook PDF inside! It has many printable pages that will allow you to follow along with me as I draw in the course.
I'll see you in the course!

So far i am enjoying this. I ttok up drawing a year ago and i basically, watch a how to video and copy. I now want to learn about drawing and be able to draw without watching a video. I stated drawing to help my mental health and i found it s a great tool for me. now i want to become my own artist. Find out my personality in my drawings.

This course is exactly what it says, drawing for absolute beginners, which is what I was looking for. Some other reviewers complained that the instructor was not super exciting, fair enough. But not every one in an entertainer. The outside links didn’t work and I couldn’t down from one section. But I give five stars, because I’m in an hour I learned a lot which is what I was looking for.

Like most students, I've tried my luck with cartooning before, and have run into problems because there are some fundamentals missing in my palette. This short course delivers important basics in the construction of characters using geometric shapes and makes this method accessible to the student. It won't instantly make us accomplished cartoonists, but it points us in the right direction.

My purpose of taking this course was to learn the basics of drawing techniques in a short duration and the course served this purpose quite well. The course was easy to understand and follow through. In my opinion, drawing techniques and artistic approaches are often a bit difficult to convey through words. But, the instructor in this course has very aptly described the drawing techniques according to the beginner's level.

Excellent introductory course, and he makes a good point about art start with simple shapes and add detail to it. I learn this when i first started to learn 3D modeling, how did those people create those characters or props for the video game. They started with simple geometry then use tools to add details to them. So in this case start with simple geometry and add details to your drawing. And yes the eraser is your friend, i forgot which artist it was but they said when they did xray and other analysis of the oil painting they found another painting underneath.

I took this course as a part of his paid course which I'm about to start now. I think this course is good and I would probably give it 5 stars if it hadn't said here that 5 stars mean "above expectations". Maybe I'm being weird about it now, but the course gave me what it promised and what I expected. I would recommend it to anyone starting out like I am. And I would recommend buying one of his other courses after that for the things this course didn't include.

I think this course just wasn't a great match for me. Unless I missed something significant, the presenter never told us how to draw Tommy Toon's face. (I really need help with expressions and body language.) And I'm already pretty good with perspective (which he spent a lot of time on). Also, he spent a lot of time on professional art materials, when I just draw with mechanical pencils from the drug store on whatever paper I have at hand. Professional art materials will come later (I suspect MUCH later).

Great Introductory Course For ANY Beginner Artist... The Instructor Takes The Basic Concepts Of 2D Shapes, Shows How To Shift Them Into 3D Shapes And Then Shows How That Applies To Creating Cartoon Bodies... If You Follow Along With A Pencil In Hand, You Will Have Begone To Draw The Character... I Feel Good About Drawing After This!

This is a really great introduction into drawing basic shapes for drawing. Good break down of how to dissect your drawing into more simple shapes to give you a foundation for the rest of your drawing. I like how you start with simple shapes and then expand into how to link those shapes together to create bodies and structures.

Very good introduction to properly drawing a cartoon character! The instructor shows the student how to think of a character not only in 2d shapes, but more importantly in 3D forms which will help the student avoid flat and disproportional looking figures. The over the shoulder approach works very well as you can grasp immediately the concepts shared and it also gives you inspiration and confidence to try it yourself since he breaks it down into easy steps. By the end of the course, you'll definitely learn how to make a good looking and properly 'built' drawn character.
