Course Description
Why I decided to record this course? You can master retouching and have great knowledge of skin retouching. Though, at the end of the day the colors are something that makes Your images unique.
What is Color Harmony?
Color harmony is theory of combining colors in design, fashion and photography that – in simple words – are working well together for the eye. Color Harmony stays behind almost all of the color designs in the industry, such as comic books, posters, photography, web design and many others.
What You will learn in this course?
I am going to start very simple, so even You are starting Your adventure with the colors, You will have a basic understanding of the Theory. I believe I am easy going person, so friendly approach of the course will make it even easier for You!
We will have an introduction to color wheel. And after You get enough theoretical knowledge we will start our practical work with different color harmonies. Through this course, You will learn how to define different color harmonic over few different sections. Since very beginning we will start developing different ways of approaching the color, and different techniques of color grading.
I will be slowly developing techniques though the lessons, starting from very basic tchings like introducting color adjustment layers into more advanced ways of working with them though the creative ways of working with masks, just to get what's best n Your image and draw attention to whats important on the image.
Course Plan:
1. In the first section we will work with Complementary Harmony:
Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel are considered to be complementary colors .The high contrast of complementary colors creates a vibrant look especially when used at full saturation. This color scheme must be managed well so it is not jarring.
In this section You will learn:
Adjustment layers that You will use in the future for Your Color Grading in Photoshop
Basic Workflow Techniques for Complementary Colors
Working with Gradient maps
More advanced techniques, such as working with masks to have full control on the color, different methods of working with colors
2. Then we will move into harmonies with more colors like split complementary and triadic harmony:
The split-complementary color scheme is a variation of the complementary color scheme. In addition to the base color, it uses the two colors adjacent to its complement. This color scheme has the same strong visual contrast as the complementary color scheme, but has less tension.
A triadic color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel. Triadic color harmonies tend to be quite vibrant, even if you use pale or unsaturated versions of your hues.
In this Section You will learn:
How to plan composition on the image
How to define Color of the image
You will know how to set the perfect color balance and tones for the image
How to set saturation for an image
How to work with masks on advanced level to keep control on very specyfic areas of the image
How to work with lights on specific color
3. After that we will move to the section with Analogic colors, and we will work on the portrait of Misha, where we have great example of this sort of harmony, and also very challenging one.
Analogous color schemes use colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. They usually match well and create serene and comfortable designs.
Analogous color schemes are often found in nature and are harmonious and pleasing to the eye.
In this section You will learn:
How to plan You work with analogic color harmony
how to built contrasts around the image and work with lights and highlights to draw more attention to the object
how to to color grading using advanced techniques we learned, on image with analogic color
Over this two sections we will be developing really advanced ways of work on two images with different composition.
4. in the last section we will have a walk through some other not so popular color harmonies, just to make sure You will be prepared for any color challenges You will have in the future.

A good course. If you never have had an experience on color grading before. The course took you to how to color grading so as to balance the overall image. He showed techniques and practices such as masking, gradient map which were unearthing to those who're new to this like me. However, he didn't teach you how to retouch (remove blemish in the photo) He demonstrated how to do it, but at some point, you gonna wonder why he did it, but he didn't explain in the deeper level.

Watched this when I first began learning color work. It was way over my head. But after a year learning color theory and ways of working with color I came back and watching it again. Excellent course. Not only about color theory and color harmonies but how to produce masks with Apply Image (tones) and Color Range Selection (colors) and the best blend modes for tones and color work. Plenty of learning. Practicing just what is in this course will make you a master with color grading.

This is i think my 3rd or second course with Marcin he has taught me by the far the best methods to do everything about editing color grading and so much more (color harmonies) for this lesson. But again thank you sir Marcin Mikus for teaching me!!

Let me start by saying that it is evident you know your subject and that I am grateful you are willing to share your knowledge. I would like to offer you some ideas that may help you enhance the quality of your courses: - Have a script and follow it without rambling and without digressions. Sometimes it is difficult to understand what are you referring to - When you do somewhere on your screen instead of saying “I will select here” or “I will select this”, say the name of the area or object you are clicking. For example, say “I will select the hair” - When you select a tool or blend mode, clearly show it and explain why you are choosing that specific tool or blend mode - Once you finish editing an image, show clearly the “before” and the “after” image, pointing and naming the areas you modified and how you modified them. Give the students (your customers) time to absorb the differences between version of the image so they can appreciate the benefits of spending time learning and executing the editing process Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Structure seems to be good and relevant for a course on color harmony. I think that's the most in-depth course on color harmony available anywhere. Although its again on the premise that skin is orange color. I think base on the primary color, he should have shown cases where skin can take greenish or pinkish tomes as well.

Fantabulous course! Learned amazing techniques that I'll certainly be using in the future. This course made me realize the huge difference color harmony can make. Now I want to learn even more about colors.

A good introduction to colour but for more advanced users some of the applications are incorrect. Marcin fails to include the skin colour within a lot of the colour schemes which means that you're not actually adhering images to a colour scheme completely. An example would be red and green in an image as compliments but the person also remains normal skin tone. In order for this to be a true colour scheme, the skin would have to be red or green if it was a strict complementary etc. It's a solid course choice for intermediate learning just be aware that higher levels of judgement (which is client and audience dependent), won't accept the colour schemes as "correct". Check it out, take it with a pinch of salt, it's still a lot of great information for you to learn from.

I learned a lot about how images can be in a perfect harmony and how to find the proper colours. My images really became much better with the understanding of colours and harmony. Very well explained and clear to understand. This is of course a post production course, don't forget, if you mess up your shooting, all this won't help much :)

Intro not all watched - knew already from text what was going to be covered. But then, nice overview of different colour harmonies. Working on images, it would have been useful to actually refer back and see the positions on the colour wheel a bit more for us who are new to this. Later sessions seemed very tightly focussed on portrait retouching detail which was of less interest to me as a photographer and digital artist. Also, the tutor could see component colours much more clearly than me: I had never thought of Caucasian skin as yellow tone, for example. (I think Photoshop gives RGB info but to date have not taken much notice of this. Maybe I will now!) More about colour in composition would have been good as well as how to actually, practically use the Paletton tool mentioned (or similar). I learned a fair bit though - apply image, luminosity layers, how to start to think in color wheel terms so am not unhappy with the course. Now I am off to have a closer look at Paletton!

It was okay. It got through the main idea about choosing the right colors, but I expected more. Only 2 photos were given as a material and one of them was not the one used in lessons. it repeated itself over. Also would have been great to see the command that were used since not all of them were explained. Overall an average course, it should have included more information or made shorter.
