Learn Excel basics, formulas & functions, dashboards, data analysis, and VBA programming in one complete course!

Our take
Based on the ratings of 875 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in April 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
The course is really five shorter Excel courses stacked together: basics, formulas and functions, visualization, data analysis, and VBA programming. It runs 78.5 hours over 296 lectures and 54 sections, and about 26,000 students have enrolled. It starts from zero and ends at Power Query, Power Pivot and macros, so it suits someone who wants a single purchase to cover the whole Excel path instead of hunting for separate courses.
Reviewers mostly praise clear, well-paced explanations from Skillademia Academy, which is a team rather than one named teacher. Of 875 ratings, 496 are five stars and 284 are four. The complaints are specific. One student says a new instructor and a different format appear partway through. Another finds the narration flat. A 3-star review says there are no practical exercises or tests, and the syllabus shows no quizzes at all. An older review says the astronomical modelling lesson only worked until June 2023, after Microsoft's deal with Wolfram ended.
Because it is five courses in one, expect overlap. Basics and formulas come up more than once, and the data analysis section even opens with a review of the basics. The last update was April 2026, and the syllabus includes XLOOKUP, FILTER and dynamic arrays. It is a solid pick for beginners who learn by watching, as long as they build their own practice files alongside, since the course will not quiz them.
Pros
- Reviewers call the explanations clear, well organized and easy to follow, even for people with no Excel exposure
- Covers a huge range: pivot tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, dashboards, 2D and 3D maps and VBA
- Capstone project runs about six hours, so there is some applied work near the end
- Kept current: last updated April 2026, with dynamic arrays and Excel 365 functions in the syllabus
Cons
- No quizzes, coding exercises or practice tests, and a reviewer says it lacks practice to solidify the learning
- Stitched from several courses, so one reviewer reports a new instructor and a different format midway
- Some overlap between the basics, formulas and data analysis sections, plus one reviewer finds the narration dull
The Excel course was very well organized and easy to follow. The instructor explained each topic clearly and provided practical examples that made the lessons engaging and easy to understand
Rated All Levels, but it really fits true beginners first, then intermediate users who skip ahead to analysis and VBA.

Microsoft Excel is one of the most powerful and widely used tools in the world. Whether you're managing finances, analyzing data, building dashboards, or automating workflows, Excel is an essential skill across nearly every industry.
This course is designed to guide you step by step through everything you need to know, without overwhelming you. You’ll start with the fundamentals, learning how Excel works, how to navigate the interface, and how to create and format worksheets. You’ll understand how data is structured and how to work efficiently with cells, rows, and columns.
Once you’ve built a strong foundation, you’ll move into one of the most important areas of Excel: formulas and functions. In this dedicated section, you’ll learn how to think in Excel. You’ll master essential functions like SUM, IF, COUNTIF, and AVERAGE, and progress into more advanced tools such as XLOOKUP, FILTER, INDEX & MATCH, and dynamic arrays. You’ll also learn how to clean data, handle errors, and combine multiple functions to solve real-world problems.

Next, you’ll dive into advanced data analysis tools used by professionals. You’ll learn how to work with Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, and predictive analysis techniques to handle large datasets and extract meaningful insights.
Finally, you’ll explore Excel programming with VBA, where you’ll learn how to automate tasks, create macros, and build custom tools inside Excel. You’ll understand programming concepts such as variables, procedures, and object-oriented logic, and apply them directly to real Excel workflows.
Throughout the course, you’ll work on practical examples and real-world projects, helping you apply what you learn immediately. By the end of the course, you won’t just know Excel, but how to use it to solve problems, automate processes, and make smarter, data-driven decisions.

I like the course so far. However, when the screen is maximized the lesson is quite blurry. Because it's small, maximizing is preferred.
By Gail Schechter on 12/18/2025
I have some basic knowledge of Excel, so some of this early content is review for me BUT I am glad to be learning everything from the very beginning. I feel like I have sporadic knowledge of Excel and hope this course irons everything out and allows me to gain confidence with using Excel.
By Chidimma Maryann on 10/13/2024
It was a great lesson. From the first teacher down to the last one. Even though it became tougher in the end, it was worth it.
