Our take
Based on the ratings of 690 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2019. No course pays to be reviewed.
Mike Wheeler's course is a guided walk through Salesforce Classic for people who have never logged in. It follows the sales cycle in three stages, Attract, Attain and Retain, so marketing, sales and service each get a section. Reports, dashboards and the Salesforce1 mobile app come after that. The syllabus shows 54 lectures and about 6.5 hours across eight sections. The audience list also names admins, analysts and project managers who want to see how end users work day to day.
Reviewers like the teaching. They call the explanations clear and detailed, and one says Mike's thorough explanations made them feel safe working in Salesforce afterward. The complaints are consistent. Everything is shown on the 2016 Classic layout, and the last update was in 2019, so newer orgs look different. One reviewer says it is all lecture with no tasks to try, and another calls it high level with little depth. A third found the narration a bit fast.
With 5,253 students and a 4.6 rating from 690 reviews, 365 of them five stars, it has held up well as a first look. Treat it as orientation to the concepts and vocabulary, not a current click-by-click manual. One reviewer notes Lightning is covered in a separate course. It runs about 6.5 hours, so the time cost is small. It suits someone who needs the big picture, as long as they expect to translate screens if their org is newer.
Pros
- Covers marketing, sales and service in one pass, plus reports, dashboards and mobile
- Reviewers say Mike explains each screen in detail and is easy to follow step by step
- Needs no prior Salesforce knowledge and shows how to set up a free account
- Short at about 6.5 hours, so a beginner can finish it in a few sittings
Cons
- Teaches the 2016 Classic interface, last updated in 2019, so newer screens differ
- Lecture only, with no quizzes or exercises, which a reviewer says makes it harder to retain
- Reviewers call it high level or cursory, and one found the narration too fast
This course is listed correctly for students who don't have much (if any) experience with SF. I'm enjoying it and finding it pretty easy to follow.
Truly beginner level: no Salesforce experience needed, and admins or analysts can use it to see the end-user view.

This course is listed correctly for students who don't have much (if any) experience with SF. I'm enjoying it and finding it pretty easy to follow. Since I'm on a newer version of SF not all screen from Mike's course match exactly but I am not having any difficulty finding what he is talking about on my free Developer instance.

Mike is really experienced and he has comprehensive knowledge about salesforce, i do not get bored when i study his courses and at the end of every course i feel that i want to study more courses with him, i have studied two courses with him so far and i believe that i will study more with him. Thanks Mike.

Extremely thorough, going through SF's main functionalities, with an excellent lesson structure that follows a typical sales process -- from Marketing to Sales to Service to Analytics and Reports, thus putting it all together in a consistent manner. Clearly explained, with samples at every step that help students/users build operational knowledge of SF.

In preparing for my Salesforce administrator training, I wanted to completely understand the user perspective. Often, admin courses show you the how but not the why. Mike's course was PERFECT for accomplishing this. I previewed 5 other courses and Mike's delivery and level of detail (and lack of difficult accent) helped my decision to choose his course. I ran the lectures at 1.5 times speed and experienced (though didn't practice) the aspects of the user interface. Mike's real-world explanations of how the features solve real-world business issues was spot-on. I will now sit down and go through Mike's administrator training (more slowly) and hope to have as good an experience.

Since I had zero experience with Salesforce, Mike Wheeler went through the course clearly form Marketing through service section. Now I feel somewhat confident to tell my latter employer about my experience with sales force accessibility ; so that on job I can lear more as and when I start to handle opportuinities, accounts , contacts and more

The course pace is fast but not too fast. Course material repetition and recap strengthens your core knowledge. The depth of instructor knowledge comes across in the tutorials. The amount of material covered is excellent. It was a very enjoyable course. Thanks to MWM. Now on to the next course... Can't wait to see if Lightning strikes twice, which just so happens to be my next course!

presentation is excellent, crisp and simple, easy understanding. If there are some options to address alternate workflows in sfdc, need to search in between, if there is an option to post a query it would be helpful. Over all it improved my understanding of the platform a lot

Very good course. Probably the best one for a beginner user like I was. The course worth all the money i have spent for it. Unfortunately I have also to say that from my point of view, there is too much theory and too little practical cases. A little footnote for the teacher, you are very well prepared but you have to exercise more on the presentation. Try sometimes to change your voice's pitch, volume and rhythm. I promise you that your students will be more engaged !

Mike organizes his courses very logically and intuitively. He is easy to listen to and breaks things up into their component parts so as to minimize the potential for confusion. This is a trend in all of his courses and they have proven to be money very well spent.

Excellent content. Good approach to a beginners course. Giving the course a business flavour helps the developers to build a mind set of thinking from end user perspective before designing the solution. Looking forward to subscribing to more such courses from Mike
